  • I think the Magical Quest series was amazing. All three games. Even if we didn't get the third game until the Gameboy Advance came around.

  • i always like watching (re watching hvgn) videos for fun but i always come back to this one lol i like when he sings the goof troop theme ITS CATCHY!!

  • I'm thinking of starting my own retro game review channel. I already have Nintendo Power posters on my wall, a collection of NES games, and now I just need to practice cursing in every sentence and I'll be all set.

  • Adventures in the magic kingdom was fun when I was a kid. I wish I had it now. :)

  • Does everything Scott Pilgrim related count as 'something with Launchpad in it'?

    :U

  • 9:16 thats my last name..FUCK YEAH!

  • Most all disney games are great, I know this wasn't capcom, but aladdin on the sega was great! Made by virgin I think.

  • ok, Tailspin on the Sega Genesis is actually really fun! i used to play it all the time when i was a kid!!!

  • these videos are informative and helpful

I can't quite get my head around being this big a fan of Splatterhouse, but this guy seems to know what he is talking about and care about it, and that is very good

  • Darkwing duck V.S Rick from Splatter house?

im pretty sure Rick would walk up to DwD and rip his head off...

  • WHAT IS THAT INTRO THEME!!!

I RECOGNIZE IT BUT CAN'T PLACE IT.

  • As much as I love guys like AVGN and NC it's great to see a guy talk positively about stuff.

  • @johnhamilton08 agreed

you can tell with AVGN though, he really loves those old games and he's a fairly careful and genuine critic behind all the mockery--and his videos don't end up seeming mean-spirited in the end, because of how hard he works to pull off his hokey gags

but myself, I just want to learn about some awesome stuff; if I want comedy or schadenfreude I'll go to... well, just about anywhere else :(

  • @Bananadine Yeah again those guys clearly love what they talk about other wise they wouldn't hate the terrible stuff.

  • Mickey Mousecapade sucked, and so did Adventures in the Magic Kingdom. The rest of them were good, though.

  • gggggggggggggggaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • I actually really like Mickey Mousecapade. I didn't even know that people complained about it.

  • Comment removed

  • I've had Mickey Mousecapade for as far back as I can remember...and yea...it's pretty bad. I'm still kinda proud that I own it, though XD

  • finally someone talked good about adventures in the magic kingdom!!

i had this game when i first got my nes and i loved it, the haunted mansion was awesome and not to show off or anything but i beat it when i was 7.. it was fucking hard but i fucking pulled it off

  • Say what u want, I'm still sticking to the Kingdom Hearts franchise as the best licensed games ever for my opinion hahahah yeah I know Im troll

  • I'm dissapointed he didn't say Devil May Cry.

  • HVGN, The Genesis TaleSpin is worster than the NES version.

  • Adventures in the Magical Kingdom. My first nes game, and I loved the freakin thing. Played Haunted Mansion until the ghosts started to say "Aw shit, hide, the kid's come back with his damn candle".

  • Darkwing Duck is great game! i enjoyed it since I was a kid. And dude u suck at Talespin BIG time. I recommend that game to any retro gamer but I think even AVGN would not bash it as much as HVGN. This episode is just biased. Get ur shit together and stop whining and bashing good games!!!

  • Did you just pull a Kenji Eno on us?

  • Of course AitMK has good music, it's by Yoko Shimomura of Parasite Eve, Chocobo's Dungeon, Mario & Luigi/Super Mario RPG, and Kingdom Hearts fame!

  • From which mega man game is the part where mega man shoots the robot cat?

  • @TheNintendo101 its from megaman 3

  • @lophatjello

Great vids man. Have you heard about "KONAMI WORLD part 1 and 2" ?

  • used to watch DWD :D so many memories! "They called me mad, they called me insane! And they're right..." lol

  • WOW! DWD brings back sooo many memories!

  • 0:19 OH SHIT 1943!

  • dude, mousecapade is one of the greatest you are a moron

  • @shawnio I enjoyed that game too. Not sure why everyone is so harsh when grading it.

  • @joedaman55 its because we probably grew up on it, this guy was a complete loser until he was 30 until he decided to spend his life fortune on nintendo games, he seems like he didnt play a game in his life until he started this channel. what kind of man drinks wine by himself? jesus

  • @shawnio no need to take personal shots at a guy for not liking a game I just personally disagree with his opinion on that game. I don't really know how people like the Legend of Zelda and I think that game gets way overhyped. Thats one of my opinions that I've been ripped for by certain fans of the game. But to each their own.

  • @joedaman55 wow, did you guys used to date or something?

  • @shawnio lol

  • My favorite capcom game is Okami.

  • of course he can duck :D

  • Capcom developed Oracle of Ages/Seasons. Nuff' said

  • Almost turned into AVGN on Tailspin. lol

  • The Little Mermaid is my older sister's favourite game. I loved watching her play that game when I was younger. I actually bought it for her with Rescue Rangers a year ago for Christmas.

  • happy nintendo nerd ur cool

  • It's funny how Derek mentions a hypothetical fight between Darkwing and Rick, seeing as how Jim Cummings did the voice of both DW and The Terror Mask.

  • @hall9111

    cum ing

    hmmmmm shi,,,,

  • I can't choose between Capcom and Konami. They're both amazing companies.

  • I'm amazed in the fact that ona can still play a NES nowdays without problems but in the other side, you got the red ring and yellow light of death in xbox360 and ps3 just for only moths of use. Gaming now days is so prostituited -_-

  • @omarsattack To be fair, the YLOD is considerably rare. the RROD however, is almost guaranteed for anyone who buys an original 360.

  • Capcom is a really good 3rd party developer, but they lost a lot of my respect when I played Street Fighter 2

  • @RLmike1234 Street fighter 2 is awesome.......

  • @techn0FTW In YOUR opinion

  • @RLmike1234 Actually, ask any serious gamer, most of them will say that SF2 is great. But meh, no big deal anyway.

  • @techn0FTW FINALLY. Someone with some sense that says it's no big deal

  • @RLmike1234 Yeah. Fighting about games is pretty pointless anyway, so in the bigger scheme of things, it really doesn't matter.

  • capcom ftw! definetly the best 3rd party developer (with midway being a close second.)

  • FINALLY someone gave Adventures in Magic Kingdom the respect it deserves!! I feel the same as you HVGN - I got that game for my bday when I was a kid, and loved it, and still play it.

I think too many people like to complain and get angry about games b/c they think they're being funny and want views (like Irate Gamer & Aladdin). But it just annoys me when they do it to a good game. You're right - they never mention the candles or star purchase ability.

And no one gives MM4 any respect either!

  • Rick would definately win

  • I have little mermaid for genesis :)

    don't hate

  • You're like the Bizarro AVGN

  • Comment removed

  • Darkwing Duck........CURSE BUSHROOT'S STAAAAGE!!!!

  • @lophatjello What do you think of the SNES Bonkers game?

  • Think you hit the nail on the head with Darkwing Duck - really like that game but I've never been able to beat it pretty much for the reasons you described.

  • Comment removed

  • @briancurtiswalker It's not that hard to beat

  • The problem with Darkwing Duck is no Negaduck. Come on, Steelbeak is the final boss? Where the fuck is Negaduck?!

  • I actually love the Little Mermaid...Still have it on my NES, can't wait to play it with my daughter one day... I love Adventures in the Magic Kingdom...I never had a problem with it when I was a kid...

  • DW does look fun, and I think I wanted to try LM for the game mechanics.

  • Darkwing Duck ending theme sounds similar to Protoman's theme from Megaman. Did both games have the same composer?

  • I FRIGGIN HATED the SPACE MOUNTAIN level... F THAT!

  • HVGN is really nice, he even states AVGN is his inspiration, really good!

  • I really liked Adventure in the Magic Kingdom. I played it for the first time about a year ago. Solid game if you dedicate time to it.

  • The only complaint i have about Duck Tales for the NES is that it's too short, i mean only a 6 levels...

  • @applemetatin1 Will you SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP you fucking whore! Stop posting your stupid ass retarded comment about that no talent rip-off irape gaymer on ever single HVGN videos!

  • I always loved that Magic Kingdom game as a kid. I honestly couldn't figure out Space Mountain until I was 9 or 10, and I was never crazy about Thunder Mountain, but I loved the rest of the game, especially the Pirates of the Caribbean one. This thing needs to be on the Wii Virtual Console so bad.

  • Wow, I used to own Mickey Mouscapades and that game was total crap. Worst game ever! And to think I wanted Mission Impossible, but my stepbrother didn't, so we had to settle on that garbage. Thanks bro'!

  • Of all the great Capcom franchises, how on earth could you have failed to mention Breath of Fire?!

  • Funny, I remember playing Adventures in the magic kingdom as Mickey.....

  • triton : ARIEL!!! DID YOU KICK SOME ASS WITHOUT MY PERMISSION?!

  • Incredibles reference ftw.

  • OMFG I LOVED MOUSE CAPADES!!!! That gave me some kind of flashback seizure.... wow.

  • I disagree about talespin being shitty. It's not a classic, but it's enjoyable enough. I must have beaten that game like 15 times when i was a kid.

  • it's too bad that campcom doesn't seem to have much pride in their work, how the fuck do you explain the HEAVY censorship on Final Fight? A fucking transvestite instead of Roxy, a guy that says "oh my car", removed names like Sodom and Damned etc...

It's sad how easily they sold their asses to the censorship. They would have to take me to court if i was the producer.

  • looking at that table with the consoles along with the n64 controllers in the background of that shot I want to ask, are there any forgotten gem n64 games that might be reviewed in the future.

  • POTC was in the 1990s? Who went back in time and told Disney about this?

  • @Chaosscouter137 It was a disneyland ride before it was a movie.

  • Why is irate hack in the recommended videos?

  • Comment removed

  • NOW I LUV DARKWIND DUCK :D

  • Well, from what I know, if a good game company pairs with Disney, epic games come out of it.

  • 8:10 or so. He says, What were they thinking! "They weren't". They werent was the best fucking line in this video! The delivery was beautiful!

  • PLEASE REVIEW MASTER BLASTER!!!!! I just want to see it again because I havent played it since I was practically an infant.

  • The only Disney/Capcom game I didn't really care for was Mickey Mousecapade.

  • ever consider joining the nerd on Cinemassacre?

you'd be an awesome addition to them! that or like eurogamer360 said, screwattack

  • @RangeTE17 He already has site RETROWARE you should check it out

  • good

  • Mickey Mousecapade was a really fun game in my opinion. It was the first game I owned (grandparents bought me NES, cousins gave me Mickey Mousecapade) so I admit to having some bias. I am going to start collecting the Disney Capcom games and probably more Disney games in general.

  • dw only guards the knife...Rick punches it!..probably meaning he would punch darkwing

  • 7:50

    Game maker here...

How they could have fixed that problem is, give the player 3 shots... 1 at each of the 45 degrees.

This would mean that, changing angles wouldn't prevent you from hitting the "y" matched enemy. :)

  • do brutal paws of fury yo

  • do brutal paws of fury yo

  • lol the incredables

  • i see what you mean about the controls i played it

  • I've never played Megaman, so I don't have that problem with Darkwing Duck. =p

  • 3:20 ROFL

  • tee hee, that Edna Mode joke never gets tired... NO CAPES! ;)

  • Haha, I love the Edna Mode reference!

  • lol, that was nostalgic.

  • VERY cool video man.

  • As one of the greatest Disney fan of all time i salute you! But still the greatest Disney game ever is Pinocchio for SNES

  • Darkwing Duck actually uses the same engine as Megaman

    So does Ducktales

  • Disney+Sega= Some very awesome classics like Castle of Illusion and Quackshot

Disney+Virgin Interactive= Aladdin, one of the most innovative games for its time

Disney+Traveller's Tales= some very hard (and good) games like Toy Story and Mickey Mania

  • Dude, I respect you, I can even... almost understand that you likes Little Mermaid, but when you said that Talespin sucks, I actually shouted out loud "FUCK YOU!"

    Talespin Rules! No discussion!

  • @goldug

Hey,its called an opinion, and lets be real, the majority of people who have played talespin say its garbage, but if you had the patience to play that game, more power to you,not everybody can love the same game that you do,especially one that has been critically panned.

  • Tailspin for the NES was like my favorite game as a kid after Duck Tales ad Megaman. Apparently, my child self had questionable taste.

  • PRIMUS!

  • one great licenced game i remember goldeneye 007

  • I actually liked Adventures in the Magic Kingdom as a kid. It was extremely hard, though I didn't find the pirates stage or the haunted house to be hard. The hardest part was the damn space flight, it took some serious coordination and reflexes! I beat it once together with my brother, but only that one time. But still, a good game. You're not supposed to be able to beat every game out there. Not everyone can beat Megaman, for example.

  • Speaking of Capsom's great games, the Phoenix Wright series is my favorite game series ever.

  • @19Szabolcs91 I like Capsom too! They've never made a srap game!

  • Speaking of Capsom's great games, the Phoenix Wright series is my favorite game series ever.

  • I was born way to late. I'm trying to master Darwing Duck right know.

  • i remember playing adventures in the magic kingdom i didnt like it but i was young then

  • Darkwing Duck is, like, my life. No lies.

  • I loved that game as a kid

  • WHERE ARE Little Nemo?

  • @canibalento

You mean "Were IS little nemo"

And he made a seperate review for that game.

  • I never played a mega man game.... (sob*)

  • ive only played 2 on virtual console

  • Great video! 5 stars! Play the capcom games on your nes they are great!

  • for those that might not catch it, when he says "what were they thinking" is a nod to AVGN

  • @NoamTube I like HVGN. He much more unique than other AVGN inspired reviewers and seems to be completely original while slipping in a few references like the one you mentioned!

  • Greatest third-party developer in my humble opinion as well. Hell yeah!

If I may be so bold as to suggest for a future review one game series you didn't mention at the beginning there; Breath of Fire, an excellent RPG series developed by Capcom that got sorely overshadowed by Final Fantasy.

  • damn strait! although konami is really awesome as well

  • darkwing duck is fucking hard i find , the jumping gets so annoying lol

  • capcom rules

    konami is cool too

    namco

  • wait til epic mickey that should be cool

  • Awesome!

    Capcom+Disney = WIN???

    INDEED

4/5, Great stuff, HVGN. AVGN is probably proud.

  • I don't think Mickey Mousecapade is that bad

It's an early NES game, games that early were all like that

  • Adventures in the magic kingdom. Oh boy. I remember playing taht game when I was 5 or 6 years old. And I kinda liked it, i dont really remember a lot from it, but i rember that mirror level. I really want to thank you for taking a look at this game. I always wanted to play it again, but just couldnt remember the title of it. Thank you.

  • Everytime i hear that intro, i expect drums to come in and hear "this is what it sounds like, when doves cry"

  • @dreadgir lol

  • "...Probably Rick Taylor."

Oh, of course! Rick can punch a knife, fist to blade, and win! Sorry Darkwing. We all love you, but Rick is 80 times more bad ass then you.

  • lol

  • @DreadGir Yep, its good when you're like a cross between Ash (Evil Dead) and Jason (...really have to explain this one).

  • 3:22 Music kinda reminds me of the ending of MEGA MAN 3

  • Disney+Capcom=Those games you see on this video.

    Disney+Square Enix=Kingdom Hearts series.

I just wanna point out that. Yeah,I'm Captain Obvious.

  • Disney + CApcom > Disney + Square-Enix

    Oooh, controversy?

  • @IJustWatchVideosHere disney+anyoneelse=mostly bad games

but maybe epic mickey will be an exception

  • @IJustWatchVideosHere all awesome games!

  • Good, although I'm not sure about the line at 6:26...referring to when the hell movies like Little Mermaid and Beauty and Beast are good. I always really like those movies and I watched them growing up, even in my teens.

  • Mh, I just remembered the Disney Sega classics. They were win.

  • hvgn, avgn and wiireviewer make the best nintendo reviews

  • oh and also Capcom is the only developer who knows how to use the Marvel Comics license! (im looking at you EA and Activision!)

  • capcom is also the only game developer left who interacts with, and cares about the opinions of, their fans. Super street fighter 4 and Mega Man 9 were directly made because of fan feedback!

eat that Nintendo, Square, Konami, etc!

  • I thought it was because Street Fighter 4 had some serious imbalances and they decided to add some new characters to make it less monotone. Capcom has actually lost my respect after they stripped Resident Evil uniqueness with that lame action-hybrid, destroy everything at sight with 1000 bullets formula and completely disfunctional plot.

  • @900Iluvatar

RE has been a joke to me since it left the ps1. Gears of Evil 5 sucked ass

  • I can see where you're coming from with Resident Evil, but I'm sorry, the first game is BORING. The 2nd and 3rd were good, but the controls were wonky and I was disappointed I was solving puzzles rather than shooting zombies (thought I did get used to it).

RE4 addressed these concerns and made a game that was BEYOND exciting. The first quicktime event made me jump in my seat and made me pay rapt attention to the cutscenes. I loved it.

    ...RE5 on the other hand...

  • Best review ever! 5 stars!
