  • Pero no hizo los pasajes mas dificiles del 2 movimiento ni una parte del tercero

  • you're amazing and all but it irks me that you put your age on all your videos... does it matter that you're 11? does that have anything to do with your music?

  • @Fredank all young musicians put their age. People want to know.

If one doesn't put it and they see a child or a teen, they keep asking for the age.

  • DUDE!! NO WAY!!

  • You are so talented! When did you first start playing the cello?

  • Congratulations!

    Lindo mesmo...

    Parabéns.

  • how many hours do u play per day??

  • One to two hours

  • i feel like crap now lol

he's soo good it's bringing me doown.

  • I mean, I can't even play the Vln 2 part for this song. I don't even know what the rhythm is...

  • te pasaste

  • Jesus H. Christ . you gotta be shitting me! you're not human ! none human can play that well piano AND Cello !

  • Wow, what amazing talent!!!

  • Good grief! There is so much talent in you Oliver. Congratulations on an excellent performance. If you can play this well at 11, I can't imagine the wonders you will make the future! There is so much ahead of you. Good luck.

  • I heard that he's New England Conservatory. I played with a cellist that's going there and he played this piece for an All City Performance.

  • No he is not an NEC student. He was there for a few months and appeared on From the Top while there. Oliver lives in WA state. He studies privately.

  • congratulations, you play very well! I like that you play, nice sound, you are a big talent!, can you see muy videos in youtube?, I´m Santiago Cañon and I play the cello too. I´m sorry, my englis is noy good, I´m from Colombia and I´m 12 years old now but in the videos I´m 11 years old. I wnat to be your friend!

  • Padddy75 i love you

the kids not even that good... i mean he knows what he's doing for his age but...just...no..

  • Wow Mrs. Aldort why don't you be a little bit more cocky about your son...and if you post videos on the internet, people are going to comment on them, expect some comments to be negative...and why dont you just let your son's playing do the talking for you, your making yourself and your son sound mighty conceited.

  • Thank you.

  • I do have to agree with wkdoem. Your son is a very talented young boy, but let his music do the talking for him. Don't be a stage mom. Just sit back and smile at the gift you have brought into the world, that is what you need to do.

  • nice

  • wow! this is amazing!

  • He communicates his thoughts and ideas masterfully. I can't wait to hear him when he's older!

  • In my opinion, ANYONE WHO WOULD INSULT THIS KID SHOULD RECONSIDER WHAT THEY DO FOR A LIVING!! Oliver is 11 years old and already plays better than some college undergrads. Most of us at his age still sounded like dying cats. I dare say we may see another blossoming like that of Jacqueline du Pre. So I say to Oliver: God speed, Maestro Aldort.

  • wow, I wish I could have gone to the concert, I know about the newton symphony!

  • That is great, I want to here him:) godd luck for Dvorak:)

  • I think, as you're beginning to find out, youtube is infested with these musically inferior kids who try to boost their own pathetic egos by criticizing not only legendary musicians like Heifetz and Menuhin, but also talented prodigies like your son. I wouldn't worry much about the knuckleheads though, they'll criticize everyone, no matter how good amazing they can play. Why? Because they know they couldn't dream of playing nearly as well.

  • Thank you RaginBull. You are obviously right.

  • Oliver your too young for Dvorak, and Shcumann?... ah , your have great tehnics but u dont have music (yet!) ant the music is the first thing. Enyone can have a goo tehnic and can play enithing. But wiouth music?.. Oliver u have music to but... u understand? your a good cellist but i think u shouldnt play Dvorak. And im not jealouse. Godd luck . P.B Áron

  • wow this kid is REALLY good I mean wow hes 11? Im learning this and im 14 but wowowowowowowo im speechless. Congrats to you and your parents

  • What nonsense. Are you jealouse or what? You are a kid yourself and wish you sounded as good as Oliver. Oliver played Sanit Saense concerto with a few orchestras a is praised by the top teachers of the country who know much better than you. Check his site OliverAldort.com and see the reviews. He is now booked for the Shcumann and Dvorak concertos for 2007 and 2008 with other orchestras.

  • FYI the composer of the concerto your son is playing is names Camille Saint-Saëns and not Sanit Saense. We French can correctly spell the name of the few American composers I would appreciate if you could do the same for ours.

  • What-efer

  • Don't boast too much America actually produces quite a lot of kid like yours most of them fall into oblivion as they grow over 18. I've been to your website and Yo Yo Ma certainly does not have anything to fear.

And no I'm not jealous personaly I don't see Oliver as a threat since I defeat him in every way.

  • Why would a collegue be a threat, anyway?!?

  • I can send you a recording of a Cello Professor that probably can't out due Oliver here..

  • That was very, very, very impressive. One of the best vids on Youtube

  • Listen, I've been watching people on this site upload their personal performances for a while now. Your son is truly something special. Polite compliments aside, Oliver has better hearing and better technical ability at such an early age than just about any non-professional musician. I'll be subscribing to his future performances. Once again, phenomenal stuff!

  • Thank you RagingBull. I appreciate your vote of confidence. I too see a great promis in Oliver. But, I am a mother. For your information, Oliver's site is www.OliverAldort.com

  • well done Oliver! wow that was great. You certainly have no problem with the technical sides of things and u seem to play very naturally. You were born to play the cello hehe! Anyway I hope you keep up the excellent work and hopefully get a good guidance throughout so that your musicality will continue to develop. But what a great start...how exciting! And congrats to you to mum! you must be so proud and all.i just hope he's enjoying life as any 11 year old should be...espcially after that!

  • Thank you itsyoshi. Oliver enjoyed your warm support. He is practicing the Shumann concerto as I write... a bit late at night but he wants to finish. He will perform it with an orchestra in March. He is also working on the Dvorak concerto. Oliver is now 12.

    Thanks again.

  • I appreciate your comment. We live on an isleand in WA state. I have been driving very long distances indeed.

The cello was awarded to Oliver as a loan from the Charelson foundation in Seattle.

Mom, Naomi Aldort. Author of Raising Our Chidlren, Raising Ourselves.

  • wow, i know people are quick to lend their "helping comment", but this kid should be very pround of himself. I was a jr in highschool before I could play this with an orchestra. I hope he keeps up the cello. Also you should be pround of yourself mom. Someone has to drive him around and buy cellos, rosin, bows, etc. Very Very Very good.

  • very very good! impressive for your age. on the imaginary harmonics the second to last note was squeeked but you fixed it.

  • Thank you.
