omg...I thought i was good until I saw your flawless performance of that solo..beleie me i watched hard for a mistake....couldnt find one.....kudos to you my friend....
DAMN!!! Where are my doors??? They've been blown away! You are an incredible talent, I hope that this fickle world sees fit to reward you for it. Incredible man, thanks for posting.
That, without question, is the best Solo Cover I've ever seen on YouTube. Even Steely Dan can't play it right any more, and you totally nailed that puppy!
This guitarist is absolutely phenomenal. To see actually being played in real time is great. It makes us realize that the electric guitar, used in its many ways and variety's, is one of the 20th centuries greatest musical inventions.
I believe that if Mozart were here today, he would be equally amazed to see a such a variation of a stringed instrument in his time like a Violin turned into another instrument, the guitar, to create such a new music and sound.
i'm having a really hard time learning this but i'm almost done memorizing it all, surprisingly. your video is a great help though, because the notations are hard to read if you don't know what you are gonna play sounds like..
Not takin' nothing away from you man, I loved it ( But, I love Steely). But, what really boggles my mind is the dude that came up with that stuff, wild.
Yeah, was it Denny Dias or Skunk Baxter, because it sounds like the same lead player the whole time on this song. Tone sounds like Dias, style sounds like Baxter, so I'm kind of stumped.
That was Skunk, and he got wicked sustain/tone with a custom guitar, a Roland Gr-505 with a plexiglass (yes, plexiglass) body. He also had his own pickups, he called them "skunk-o-sonic" pickups.
Wow, very detailed, lol. I thought I was the ultimate Danhead. Well, anybody who's playing Roland's definitely knows what they're doing. (Skunk is my favorite pre-Carlton Steely Dan guitarist)
anybody want to buy a guitar.. cheap

Thanks Emmetwhitey..
Oh, that's what I meant to say..SG, as in Gibson's Spanish Guitar designation.
The ES series means, Electric Spanish. Mr. Web of Web's Music told me that years ago as an Gibson retailer franchise owner.
I always wanted one even though I had my own Les Paul cherry sunburst.

From what I understand, Baxter did everything except this part, which was Dias.

JohnMonn76 2 years ago 2
He is good at covering others, doesn't make him the best guitarist. The guitarists creating their own music are by far much better.
Aytan72 2 years ago
Yeah, right. By the way Aytan72, let's hear some of your stuff. Covered or original is fine.
