I've been to Stockholm before. You know what they make you do there? For the record, MSNBC and the 'liberal media' aren't indoctrinating children either, they're giving a one-sided view, just like PJTV, there lies the hypocrisy. Saying that socialism has never worked is a fallacy for instance, the Nordic model proves this. But what contrasts our model with theirs is that we promote reliance while theirs promotes family and autonomy. Hence the best education system in the world. But as with anything there's always room for improvement. Being the best isn't enough.

If we were as efficient as Sweden, I'd estimate about a third of our population would be unemployed; we just wouldn't need them.

Socialism works in countries with low population densities and high median incomes. It fails in countries with moderate population density or low median incomes.

It's worth doing actual research into this rather than simply claiming that population density has an effect of the efficiency of socialism. It either works or it doesn't - what allows it to work on a municipal level is that it's easy for people to move or work in a city and live in an other to 'evade' the uncompetitiveness (taxes, services, etc) of the city of employment (or surrounding cities). It can be clearly established that it's how Finland implemented it that makes it work.

Finally you're saying that Finland has bucketloads of natural resources and has been tapping into them efficiently, implying that they're using resource money to fuel their social programs and such. It's my belief that you're mistaking Finland with Norway in this case. The only resources they're tapping are ore and forests... As it's the case with most developed [and non-developed] countries. The efficiency of the tapping has nothing to do with it, either.

No society works the same but the economic principles work the same regardless of where you implement them. By telling people to rely on themselves rather than government and promoting the nuclear family, Finland's got it right, and its population benefits from this line of thinking. It's a successful model, just like you've got a 1/X chance of having a successful business model (by successful I imply allowing you to grow exponentially).
