You don't make sense. If 2 step is only used to build boost why do all motor cars have 2 steps? I have the option to use the 2step with or without antilag. I also have what my software calls full throttle shift. Fts is like and antilag that builds boost between shifts. Do you own a turbo car????
@92redhatch amen. ive had so many arguements on youtube about the 2step without turbo kinda crap. i know so many people that run 2step without boost. and these people on youtube insist its a waste.i beg to differ cause its purpose with a turbo is to build and hold boost for launch. but if your N/A its still works as a extra rev limiter which you can set for your perfect launch on your car.
Is "anti-lag" the same as "2-step" ?? This sure seems like a 2 step (like the description states, "anti-lag 2 step neptune")
-I always have thought they were different, not one in the same.
-In a super generic description, Don't Anti lag systems spray fuel pre-turbine to keep the exhaust wheel spooling between shifts? The systems are never specifically installed to build boost off the line, like a 2-step i/f cut is used for.
And anti-lag systems do more than just spray raw fuel pre-turbo.
I have heard that it hurts the turbo and engine and I've heard that it doesn't. I really don't know but I use it for the race track. I just test it out on the street from time to time to make sure I'm building enough boost to launch on my slicks when I go to the race track.
I build 12psi of boost with my anti lag set a 5500rpm my rev limiter is 9800rpm. I can disable the antilag if I feel like it and just have a 2 step. I know everyone has their theories but it is an antilag
@92redhatch Why? Thats exactly what it is, a soft cut rev limiter. I think maybe you should look it up. Antilag isnt a rev limiter and it doesnt make this rapid backfire sound. It's only operation on overrun [when the engine revs are falling] Antilag bypasses air through an idle speed control valve, and retards ignition to stop the revs increasing. This ignition retard means you get backfires. The force of this backfire and extra air thats traveled through the engine keeps the turbo freewheeling
@92redhatch But what you have is a soft cut rev limiter. Either at the high end redline RPM [where the engine will not increase in speed] or you've got it set down lower, which is used for launch control [a secondry limiter set at like 3500RPM just to launch without spinning.] The backfires here are just from where the ignition is cut and the fueling isnt. A hardcut rev limiter cuts both fuel and ignition. So at the end of it, this video isnt of antilag at all.
Check my other videos out I have a new setup with an uppipe out of my hood from my turbo. I have had antilag/2step for a few years without issues. The reason I call it antilag/2step is because that's what the maker of my tuning software calls it.
nice launch control though and dyeguy is wrong all pro rally cars are turbo and have been since the early 80's and have been using 2 step and anti-lag since then when F1 invented it. dye your probably not a noob but you also don't know much about rally cars. sick video be careful not to crack your turbo or manifold thats the downfall of retarding your timing and making a bomb go off in your exhaust system.
This is launch control the oher guy is right. look at some world rally racing WRC footage to get a better idea. This step launch control might have anti-lag properties but again anti-lag setups are 4 when the car is moving and retards timing at zero throttle to continue moderate boosts pressures during shifting or slowing down. most people on the forums are using the wrong terminology and its getting old. true anti-lag setups are not really 4 drag but more 4 autocross, rally, and track racing.
@dyeguy239 you are a rude "noob", and considering how cocky you are with your "knowledge", it just makes it all just a little more entertaining.
Face palm yourself, and then go read some basic technical/mechanical differences between the forms of "Anti-lag", and just where a "2-step i/a" falls into place. "Anti-Lag" is a fairly broad title, but in general terms, it goes a little something a like a this:
@dyeguy239 A 2-step just alters the ignition cut RPM for building boost.
Anti-lag systems can be very complex, spraying fuel pre-turbine, adding air pre-turbine, altering timing... not at all just used for building boost off the line, like a 2 step is used for. (anti-lag-systems were more often than not used in rally cars/engines and old F1 cars/engines in the days of the F1-turbo4.
i found it funny how people are telling you what you have and dont have, anyway nice setup
