too bad i've actually played at a national level, but had to stop because of studies. I'm a defender but before i was a goalkeeper and it's not coincidence that I, who has watched and refereed football for 20 years, have not heard of this goalkeeper until now. Why is that? I HATE ANDY GORAM, simply because he broke every Celtic fans hearts with the outstanding saves he constantyl made, but as a footballing fan, I HAVE to comment on the ability he had. He is the best goalkeeper that Britain has ever produced. Andreas Thom was a great player for Celtic, chances are most European fans havent even heard of him, and chances are their are great playera out there that I havent heard of.
tearlach is spot on here - Andy Goram was a complete cnut - hated few footballers more than him - but he was some fuckin keeper. They say there were only 2 Andy Goram's due to his bipolor disorder and sometimes it felt there were indeed fucking 2 of them in goal - he was just very hard to beat.
he underachieved as did the team in those days. the attacking play was brilliant mind you.

Thom was a very disapointing player, or should that be frustrating player.
One week he'd be outstanding, the next 3 he'd be a hiding somewhere :)
Goram was a great keeper, but he too had bad games. (Ithink it depended on which pub he got thrown out of the night before :P)
