Maestros!

  • this George Harrison/Jeff Lynne version of this song is a sort of prayer for me, and a companion prayer to Nick Lowe/Elvis Costello's "What's so Funny 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding".

  • @revpgesq

And what a beautiful prayer it is, with Jeffs warm, wonderful voice and the outstanding performance of the others, and, of course, the amazing songwriting skills of George Harrison :-)

  • alguien podría decirme quiénes son los guitarristas? Gracias

  • What a concert

  • It is dawning on me that George has come up with possibly the best consistent original writing of the quartet, especially as a solo artist. It comes out structurally and in terms of lyrics when arranged faithfully on this level. "Abbey Road" has so much of soul in it, which probably gives it that transcendent quality that reaches beyond what you can really hear. Listen to the whole tribute concert and think about it. He was just a retiring personality by nature.

  • Jeffs effortless vocals are like liquid gold at times. May your spirit be free and and at peace George.

  • @ronnieneo

Jeff's got one of the best voices in rock, that's for sure.

  • @ronnieneo

    Well said

  • mistica... delicata poesia .. fantastica

  • i cant believe people fault this performance from the great JEFF LYNNE.This was a brilliant honour to do this for his best mate, George Harrison.Jeff lynne has a new album out this year, cant wait as it will brilliant as usual from this true Legend in every sense of the word

  • Beautiful guitars....

  • how can 2 people not like this?,clearly retarded

  • These songs don't last long enough!!!

  • Jeff is just great .. so as Marc Mann and the other lads.

  • George Harrison died of cancer: the chronic metabolic disease that has metastasized into the biggest hoax ever perpetrated upon the people of Earth, surpassing the carnage of war, earthquakes & car crashes.

  • George Harrison 4 ever in my heart! Thanks George For Your Music:,)

  • 10 years ago today since George left us, hope he has found peace :-)

  • simply amazing and so moving!

  • George me sorprende una vez y otra... hermosa canción. Gracias George Harrison y The Beatles por su música!

  • ...bonita cancion...

  • Help me cope!

  • Jeff Lynne sings this so well it's just beautiful.

  • @tobydarling

  • awwwwwwww hermoso

  • how did they rehearse for this?

  • a song addressing his dear Lord

  • Just discovered "The Concert for George" so sad an event with such great talent. Thank You for posting.

  • Kids today don't enjoy the melodies and harmonies that people like George Harrison and the writers composers of his generation gave us. Rap and Hip Hop has no tune you can sing in the shower. The melodies and corresponding harmonies they discovered were so sweet. I've thought for some time that harmonic melody is truly a gift from heaven. Before WW2 the Japanese only had a pentatonic scale to compose from. It was the Americas, Blacks and whites that created the blend so beautiful to the ear.

  • Jeff lynne mr Electric Light Orchesta :)

  • JEFF LYNNE

  • Jeff Lynne was George's best friend. I don't know how they can do this concert without crying. And looking at George's son is like he's there too. Jeeze what a time it was. It was a time. Being born 1950 and growing up with these greats!!

Thanks for everything guys. God bless George and Billy Preston RIP....

  • @Geoffrey2410 Aw no, that's awful...I didnt know that Billy Preston had died

  • @Geoffrey2410 I thought Eric Claption was Harrison's best friend. Well, he probably had a lot of best friends.

  • @Geoffrey2410 You make my cry !! :(

  • 0:17 who is that awesome guitarist! Anyone tell me!

  • @StereoLightz

He is Marc Mann.... awesome session player who played on many Harrison albums. He plays Georges solos note for note just like the originals.....He takes great care to preserve the Harrison sound on all the songs....Isn't he awesome!!

  • I love ELO, but Jeff sucks here.

  • @GohModley

Lol ...you should hear the original recording at the concert..........You are hearing a much improved studio vocal track here.

  • @777jonah888 Jesus!

  • @GohModley

    LOL..

  • @GohModley I thought he was great...what did you think was bad about it?...no offense, I'm just curious

  • @comanchio1976 I'm not a professional music critic. I'm just a disabled vet who barely passed high school. I can't explain right in words why I think he sucks. It just not as good as his ELO stuff.

  • @GohModley Fair enough :)

  • No me gusta la voz de Lynne.

  • En que año fue esto ????

    What year this ???

  • I love Jeff Lynne, but he blew the phrasing a bit here at 2:35.

  • George had a very good taste. That blondie back vocal is XXX-sexy.

  • listen to the bass line and you can sing along with the bass alone

  • Jeff Lynne really knows the lyricks, doesn't him? ;)

  • głoss jeff lynne jest przepiękny

  • jeff is the best

  • i love how HITMAN is in the back playing as well!

  • hairy motherfucker can sing !

  • HEY! please... <3

  • I bet lots of people wore glasses there, to hide the tears for George. I would!

  • Concert for George is all heart and soul!

  • Anyone know who the slide player is here?

  • @leedrennan - Marc Mann. And apparently he isn't just a great guitarist. He plays keys and produces. George loved his playing. It's odd, you won't find a lot of information about him on the internet, but he goes back notably to Oingo Boingo

  • @mjedgerley Yah, it is odd. I remember him from ELO's Zoom tour (which sadly never happened). I think he's also the guitarist playing on Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed "Summertime" here on Youtube (although younger... and without that cap).

  • I think he did great--reaching an audience that may have prejudice against the Beatles---God! help us with our prejudices! We are s-o-o-o blind!! If only we could understand-

  • with respect i think someone else should of sung this...sounds like hes struggling with the timing...

  • Any pickers out there...Can you tell me why Eric is capoed at the third fret, but Jeff is capoed at fifth fret?

  • @GonzoGuyy Probably has a lot to do with what else they were playing on those guitars and what chord shapes they were more comfortable with. Looks like they were both playing pretty standard shapes so probably both in standard tuning.

  • @GonzoGuyy Looks like Clapton is playing shapes that are a step up from Lynn, which would of course make sense.

  • so very fab! you are your music is so very fabalous ! thank you for creating it.

  • George!!!!!

  • Muito ótimo!

  • superb, you're superb! hehe : )

  • Great intro. And Jeff Lynne has many "different voices". Listen to "Rain is falling" or "Rockaria" or "21st century man" or this one. He adjusts his voice to the essence of each song.

Harrison really wrote great songs, with many gems and beautiful details. In this one - a great slide-show, for instance. And the syncopation at 1-10-1-14.

  • Voice reminiscent of John's ..

  • Jeff is just great. One of the producers of the Beatles anthology albums, plus he produced some George's and Paul's albums. John Lennon indicated that ELO (Jeff's former band) was what the Beatles would be after the Beatles. And he kept his hair style since the 70s, and those shades!

  • @ecfkm Sorry friend....Billy Preston was the fifth Beatle. Getting kicked off the rooftop with the other lads says it all.

  • I bet Jeff has a thick bush!

  • Great cover. And, once again...Tessa Niles. Oh yeah.

  • love that orange guitar!

  • jeff is God!!

  • Fantastic. Clapton pointing to Jeff at the end and announcing 'clap him' says it all.

  • God bless you Jeff Lynne. I have listened to your music since I was a kid growing up in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the 1960's. You're a national treasure.

  • I had to come back and listen to it a couple more times.

  • Beautiful.

  • I had to play this a couple of times. Excellent rendition Jeff Lynne!

  • its kind of cool to see clapton in roles that are not just the front man but part of a whole and they sounded awesome

  • well done Jeff, you're the best

  • Mark Mann is the slide guitarist

  • who playing slide guitar on intro ?

  • @TheBelfast8 Marc Mann (with a cap) and Andy Fairweather Low (an orange guitar) - it´s Double (slide) fantasy!

  • this is just plain gorgeous.....

  • My favourite rendition on the DVD. Music at its best.

  • Jeff is fabulous!!!

  • Jeff Lynne is the man!!!

  • @QUARTERPNL ....Yeah, but what's with the Yamilke on steroids that's on his dome?

  • nice jeff nice

  • Great job Jeff love your voice!!!

  • @ELOSHAZZY

Hi, hate to burst your bubble but Jeff layed down the vocal track in the studio during production for this song. The original is well, lets just say not his best by a long shot.....pretty sad.

Lynne would not release the song until his vocals were fixed.

By the way I am a massive ELO fan and saw them in 78 for the Out of the Blue Tour with the big spaceship and missed my graduation commencement to see them in Buffalo in 1981.....Time Tour.

    Take care...

  • @777jonah888 I believe you because i know he tries to be a perfectionist , that is why the album he has been working on is not finished. Jeff is not happy with his voice because he dose not have the same range as he use to ......I am sure most fans know that, but critic alway have been hard on ELO/JEFF even now they won't admit how good they were......... his fans and ALL the new artist sampling ELO,S song know how good they!!!! BTW I was at the TIME TOUR CONCERT IT WAS BEST CONCERT EVER

  • Loved this concert more than I thought I would. It was fantastic.

  • Fantastic....so glad you uploaded this!!!! X

  • Love this concert.
