This is an interesting documentary, but it was bias. What do you expect the Russians were supposed to do once they got into Germany, they wanted revenge for all the crimes they committed in the USSR and Russia! So, I feel no pity for the Germans!
HE IS VERY CORRECT IN THIS AND IM GOING TO NEED WEEK TO SHAKE OFF WATCHING ALL THE EPISODES if you allow yourself any modicum of suffering be so warned .........it does impale you
What about the destruction by the Germans when they invaded the USSR??? Did they not rape russians?? What is that called? When Russians raped in their vengeance against the germans it is called barbarism.. What was the activities of the germans called??.. This documentary is purely biased...
Like dmacid says, this is very biased garbage. As much as many of the things said are true, they are inflated. Too much emphasis on soviet''agression''. Irony is that without the russians, we would be speaking german, well i wouldn't even be here to speak. And finaly, considering what russian families went through under the germans, I can't judge their retaliation. Just look what the americans did to the japs, and how much less they suffered against the latter.
he overcooks his case at times. Like the US aid to the USSR he talks of squadrons of US fighters ready to attack at Kursk, but the footage shows T6 Harvard trainer planes. US built aircraft totalled less than a fifth of the Soviet total.
the allies had to do what they had to do.Axis powers set in motion the barbarity & was quite natural to pay back in kind. All the axis loses put together are not even 1/5 of what the Russians lost!!
This could have been a good documentary, but Ferguson's constant harping on the fact that there was evil on both sides is irritating and insulting - does he think we really don't know that? Any reasonably intelligent person who is interested in World War II already knows that it was far more complicated than Good versus Evil. Ferguson acts like he discovered something new. Juvenile!
The Japanese had far more respect for the U.S.? Uh...not really. The Japanese didn't like that the U.S. was cutting off oil shipments AND they generally resented any Western country in the East. That included the United States. And just because one guy or a few guys say that, doesn't take away from the fact that they still declared war on the United States. That really doesn't show a lot of respect, unlike how Hitler respected the British and tried to make them an ally...for example.
@Dr1Canuckchuck Many soldiers do think for themselves. And they think OF themselves when they're faced with a difficult order. Weighing the consequences of shooting a child (or worse) against being shot as a deserter (or worse), men usually make the free choice to obey. It's a tough choice but, if you were in the spot, you'd probably make the right choice too.
@doctim11 This just in... it was a movie line... no one said anything about a sleeping anything... Though I do believe that Yamamoto was one of the sole voices that didn't think the attack was a good idea. One guy... not a nation... and no sleeping dogs... giants... tigers... or wizards... According to wikipedia he may have said something about a rabid dog. Peace.
@doctim11 Japan didn't say that... Isoroku Yamamoto said this, "[I fear we have awoken a sleeping giant]" That was one guy not the entire nation of Japan. If Japan's leadership did have a healthy degree of respect for the US and agreed with Yamamoto before hand... maybe the corrupt war mongers in the US would have had to try a little harder to get the Japanese to attack Pearl Harbour. ;)
It never ceases to amaze me how easy it is to convince people, via propaganda, that not only is another race of man NOT a fellow human being, but is an animal. And, having accomplished this it is even easier to convince people that BECAUSE he is an animal he needs to be exterminated in the most brutal means possible. The result is to treat their fellow man in ways they would NEVER dream of treating an actual animal. Will man ever bother to think for himself?
Why are all of your videos focused on pushing political propaganda? You block comments on the videos that you don't wish to receive a rebuttal from, and leave open the others that contain other lies but less conspicuous? Which government do you work for? Fanatical enemies? Whatever. Transparency at its finest!
At the end of this episode Ferguson mentions the rape of 2 million German women by Soviet troops however he fails to mention that many German women were raped by British and US troops too. There are plenty of accounts of raping and looting by British servicemen. I cannot understand why Ferguson doesn't say this even though he accepts there were humanitarian failings on all sides.
@leekmuncha i'm sure it happened. but i am sure that it did not happen anywhere close to 2 million times. i am sure it was orders of magnitude lower than the Russian numbers. The Russian rapes were condoned from Stalin himself. the Germans themselves definitely preferred to get out of the Russian quarter and get into any one of the allied sectors of Germany when they could.
@leekmuncha The poor guy has said so much... he can't say it all. However, it was mentioned for the sheer volume and intensity of the rapes when the soviets steam rolled the Germans at the end of the war. It was an epic rape-a-thon Russian penises must have been warn to the nub. How can I just say something like that. I have talked to the wives of two of my patients who experienced it... one wrote a book about it... I read it. It was brutal. I agree though all sides raped and murdered.
@leekmuncha because for every rape carried out by a british, american, or french soldier, there were a thousand rapes carried out by red army soldiers. 1000 to 1. do you understand the difference in scale of these crimes? basic math.
@leekmuncha It is the victors of war that get to write its history. Robert McNamara put it best when he said "If it were us (the allied forces) who lost the war, we would have all been tried and hung as war criminals.
history is written by the winners.
always biased.
