  • I know this video is years old, but this reminds me of that time last year where the officer told me a number and wrote another one on the warning. Didn't get a ticket, just a warning though. Caught me and said I was doing 133KPH (in a 110KPH zone) and wrote 140KPH on the paper.

  • The 18wheeler was even going faster than you.

  • define deserving it...If you are going with the flow plus or minus, who's Right is being infringed? The problem is the state believes they deserve the fruits of your labor.

  • In NC if you don't move over or really slow down for ANY emergency or work vehicle on the side of the hwy, you WILL be pulled over, ticket and probably get points on license. They do this so Officers arent hit.

  • I just want to know why you would get over in the lane right next to the officer using the radar instead of staying in the lane you were in. by law you either have to be one lane over from the officer, or slow down to 20 mph under the posted speed limit. it IS a ticketable offense.

  • @boxersrock1 Where do you get the 20mph thing from? Where in Ohio Revised code is 20mph referenced?

Ohio law states that I must move over (or "proceed with due caution" where moving over would be unsafe) for a public safety vehicle that is displaying flashing, rotating or oscillating lights. Neither cruiser had any such lights on. (Would warn speeders?)

No violation of law occurred here. Your state law may be different.

Check out Ohio Revised Code Section 4511.213(A)

  • @Scruit the second police car that had the car pulled over did in fact have flashing lights. you can see them and even the ones inside the back window were flashing.

  • @boxersrock1 I don't see what you're seeing. All I see is a sun glare that appears to be a white rotating light in the middle on the top of the second car. Of course OSHP don't use rotating lights like that. They have red (left)-blue (right) with the center section being a black cover, on top of a row of white strobes.

I see nothing in the rear window. I saw nothing on the day either.

  • @Scruit

Indeed in Florida - it's called the "move over or slow down law." And it applies to ANY emergency vehicles, including Tow Trucks. And yes - if you can't move over, you MUST slow to 20 mph UNDER the posted speed limit.

  • @boxersrock1 The original Ohio "Move Over" Law took effect 01/01/2004 and was in effect at the time this video was created/ The 128th General Assembly made minor changes to 4511.213 under HB2 which took effect 07/01/2009, however those changes involved expending the scope of the vehicles covered by the law. The version of the law in effect at the time still required drivers to move over for vehicles displaying emergency lights.

  • love how car getting ticket at :22 arrow states Pwn3d....pwned....get it.,,,lol....good stuff....

  • I actually have a system in my car that transmits my GPS coords and associated data (speed, heading, altitude, etc.) into a newtork via Amateur Radio called APRS. The data is relayed and intercepted by any number of stations (world wide) and the data is posted to the internet. I was pulled over for speeding once, cop said I was doing 71 in a 55. When I got home, I pulled the data for several points leading up to where I was pulled over. [continued...]

  • My max speed was 57, and at just about at the point where he said he tagged me (1,171 feet away, I asked to see his radar)

I took this to the court, and the judge flat told me he didn't care what evidence I had, and basically that the city wanted the revenue. In Oregon, there is no appeals process for traffic court, and a judge's ruling is final.

I was PISSED! And in my own home town, too... what douchebags!

  • I'm trying to find a way to do this without having to use an external datalogger/overlay device. I record everything through my laptop, and my laptop has a GPS- but I can't find any good software to overlay my GPS info onto my webcam video.

  • Try Aver MOB1304NET DVR(built-in GPS function)

Or use an analog video source for your laptop (using a video capture card in teh PCMCIA slot instead of a USB camera) and run the video signal through a GPS overlay first. You will get a better choice of camera this way. Auto-iris will give you better extreme light handling (ie sun in shot)

  • You'll have to write your own video capture software and overlay the text yourself. If you are using windows then you can get a video capture "control" (plug-in for a development environment like InterDev or Visual Studio) (be prepared to pay for it) and write your on WB or C# application. The video capture control has an easy API with exposed commands for "connect to video" "record video" and "overlay text". If you're into Linux then you're on your own. ;-)

  • Yeah, because we all get pulled over so much for going the speed limit. If you weren't a criminal breaking the speed limit, you wouldn't need this.

  • It's also useful if you get in an accident and the other driver accuses your of speeding.

  • Yeah, that happens to me everyday. I get into a accident and wish I had a GPS logger......riiiiiight.

  • Only takes once.

BTW, You mean "every day" (happens on each and every single days), not "everyday" (common), right?

  • It's a waste of money.

  • Personal choice.

  • lol

  • Good idea except I am not sure I would always want them to see my max speed.

  • LOL Very nice!

  • Ah. You got gps overlay now. So do I as you know . Good to see. Hope your not going to tell the officer that the knots speed is mph though LOL.

  • I have had the GPS overlay for abot 6 months. I split the front-facing camera signal into channels 1 & 2 of them 4ch DVR. Channel 2 runs through the GPS overlay device. That means I get to display the GPS data if I want, or I can show the video without GPS if it's not relevant.

  • WHERE THE HELL DO YOU GET SUCH A GOOD CAMERA VIEW DISPLAY WITH GPS SPEED READOUT??? Your's has EXCELLENT display with crystal clear ecording- even better than what cops have!

Must be a handy thing to have to throw in a cop's face at traffic court or at a dealership or mechanic's garage to prove they're joyriding/ stealing from people's cars!

You should have one mounted under the hood to fight mechanics when they charge OEM part prices when they throw in cheap aftermarket copy parts!
