  • 80's huge turtle necl at 3:30

  • Paco le da MIL PATÁS al meola.

    Paco the best.

  • @javidegarcia Vaya clase le da

  • I fully realize that this video was from the late 70s or early 80s, but Al Di Meola looks a bit comical in his white cowboy boots. Regardless, the performance was fantastic!

  • truth.

  • With those 2 guys never better!

  • I like this one over the Paco.. just better in al di s hands...

  • magical moment

  • who is the other guitarrist??

  • wath is the other guitarrist???

  • al di meola suena mal

  • che dire? spettacolare, vado a sentire paco a roma i primi di dicembre, ho preso i biglietti on line su listicket in tempo.menomale.

  • My parents were there. I'm jealous as hell :)

  • Takes me back a bit! Flamenco v Pick? No comparison. Both have there attributes, but I'd prefer to watch flamenco for an hour. But muted pick sounds nice.

    Thanks for posting!!

  • Paco is the best!!!

  • Paco is champion the other guy is a rock and roll player thats all folks.....................................ééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééééé

  • al di meola is a jazz player, paco is a flamenco player...together, the outcome is that very impressive show

  • i dont know what paco can do with a pick :O , kick assss dude.

  • nothing beats white cowboy boots!

  • wow, ive never seen paco that "on",

  • Al seems overflown in some parts, though he is really really great, but Paco can leave anyone else back with nothing to do but stare and enjoy.

  • Simply incredible!

  • incredible than paco pays without pick

  • Pacoooo GENIO

  • This is such an amazing version!

  • quiero aprender esto

  • Comment removed

  • 8:00

  • 3:20 3:40 3:10 sublime

  • como se disfruta esto por favor!!

  • Paco el genio de la guitarra

  • Paco is the best,he has an amazing tone and a lot of rythm.Meola is also great with the pick.Paco tiene SABOR.

  • that was bitchin how does he alternate pick with his fingers?it sounds like a pick

  • And I'd say John Mclaughlin is just as good :)

  • Yes,he is great musician,a master but, i dont like his tone, anyway he is great.Salud.

  • Mestres Supremos do Universo!

  • Great video!! but there are two songs Mediterranen Sundance(Meola) and Rio Ancho( Lucia) whith improvisation! thanks to post in!!

  • one of the Mount Everests!

  • SIMPLY WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • EXCELENTE!!!!!!

    Saludos desde Sevilla.

  • Dios estaba allì..le oì!

  • EXCELLENT

  • First of all this song is called Rio Ancho, with much improvisations by both of them. Rio ancho is a song that came on 1976.

Mediterranean Sundance is a recorded improvisation by Al Dimeola over Paco's song Rio Ancho.

    Cheers.

  • where can i get the version of al dimeola?

  • In Aldi Meola's cd Elegant Gypsy. The song its played by paco and Meola.

  • oh. thanks man

  • high energy music - yes those are right words to describe

  • EXCELLENT !

  • Al di meola and paco de lucia the best guitarists

  • 7:21 is this from entre dos aguas?

  • haha yeah it is

  • al di meola is very fast and very good guitarist but paco is a mashine gun...................just this

  • i like when paco accelerates at 7:22. i feel a eargasm

  • Al and those boots!...lol....these guys are as good as it gets. They are the guitarist's guitarists.

  • 3:44 - 3:56 Legendary sound.

  • Even playing with steel strings, picks or with fingers... this song is an epic one from these Masters. Everybody talks about this masterpiece... We all are agree that those minutes we are listening to this song, means gold

  • GUITAR GODS!!!

  • im so used to classical strings that the metal strings are irritating to me in this song!!!

    thats just me...anyone else???

    but stillgood...jus different sound....

  • Not me donrobertoni. I first heard this song on the classic album "Live in San Francisco", and Al Dimeola is playing this tune on that album. Have to agree that the nylon gives that eerie majestic quality quality which I find so appealing in Paco's playing. How on earth he gets those right hand fingers to pick so quickly I'll never understand!!

  • Anyway I have such question. Is it real to play clean and low on such speed without nails? Of course I mean finger technique.

  • Nails help improving the sound a lot, even more then making it more comfortable. If you want to take your playing to a high level I would start growing them.

  • I like the white boots of Al. My cat is called Paco after Paco.

  • paco should be proud

  • Sounds so plastic with the pick, Flamenco is naturally with the fingers, and thats it.

  • Paco plays with fingers. Dimeola plays STEEL STRING. You dont' use flamenco or classical technique on steel string instruments usually.

  • @marRicardo

No, even if it is possible ( justin king flamenco strikes on steelstring) U usualy play it with nails. And nails and steelstring do not mix. unless you have concrete hard nails.

Amazing song. Learning sundance atm, well trying to find the time to learn it.

  • IMO its not the pick, its the stupid ovation that sounds horrible. Regardless if its steel string or not (because steel string also has its lovely sonic properties) but John McLaughlin uses a pick and sounds every bit as good as Paco.

  • Excelente el maestro Paco de lucia!!

  • figuring paco de lucia is playing with his fingers is just scary!!! he hapens to be the only one i know able to play this this way! am i wrong?

  • It is amazing but he is not the only one. There are a few rock players like Mark Knofler of Dire Straits that play with fingers. There many Jazz players that do also, and of course anyone playing with a nylon string guitar like Paco also plays with his fingers. However, I think he is the best in this style.

  • Knopfler's finger picking style is completely different than this. Paco uses picato

  • I know, I just noted that some electric guitarists too use fingers to play

  • Pooritech, Paco de Lucía may be one of the best (and by a lot of people's books, *the* best) flamenco guitarists in the world, but flamenco guitar has existed for a while, quite a few people play it well (like the guy who upped this video!) and they all use that finger-picking technique. Makes for a much nicer sound, and a lot more you can do with it :)

  • Amazing.

  • 6:26 I really like what Al does here. It makes for a nice change-up. I'll have to practice that myself! :)

  • al is so much better on acoustic!

  • wow.... absolute insane improv session from 2 masters of guitar. t

  • actually fantastic cover

  • its not a cover... Al wrote it and originally played it with Paco.

  • The intro is Al's but the main theme and overall structure of the tune is Paco's...see Rio Ancho and Entre dos Aguas, it is sort of a mix.

  • al's boots are ridonculous

  • que Genial

  • God given talent....Love it.

  • hahaha and you are the best clown in the world... xD

  • its been awhile this clip, but they r 2 giants

and they're having a whole lotta fun, thats what its all about.

And also Al is great in this piece.

    tks for sharing.

    greets.

  • enorme!!

    español en vena!:D

  • im gona start to cry... paco decidedly number one guitarist!

  • One flamenco guitarist who is very technical like Paco is Jose Maria Bandera, he is Paco's nephew but unfortunately you never can find hardly anything on him. Check out Paco playing zyryab with him, i think it's on here but yes Paco is one of the best guitarist's in the evolution of this planet.

  • This is just sick... I cant even move my fingers so fast in the air, and they are doing it on their guitars... Crazy

  • Check Paco at 5:35. He is a damn monster!!!

    Ole gitanillo!!!

  • They lose compass around 4:47.

Paco's fingers are the fastest in history, no doubt!!!

  • Joab321: I agree man. They lose grip for a few seconds. Even pros make mistakes. I find this comforting 'cause I make mistakes every few bars. lol

  • Naw. Al leaves a space there, but you can clap through and see he comes back in correct. I think Paco was laughing because he played some weird notes in that spot, not expecting such a big pause in the rhythm backing.

  • As brilliant as he is Al looks really girly with those boots and waistcoat.

  • paco es el mejor del mundo

  • amazing!!

  • Greatest s0ng ever wr0te, no comparisons,

    peri0d.

  • No. For starters, the aficionados were horrified. He did it for fun, and to learn about other music styles. He learned a lot from those guys, but it was a big sacrifice.

  • god dam

  • just so fucking awesome... :))

  • manific

  • see my and subsequent comments

  • Jazz at seville, was a concert of many guitarists. Such as George Benson, paco de lucia, John Mcglaughlin, Al di Melo, Carlos santana, Eric Clapton etc etc.

It was over a weekend about 14 years ago, open air in the cool of the evening. It was broadcast on TV.

    A great concert

  • This is a much older, and hard to find historical concert. Not sure what the point to make a comparison is????

  • The Germany concert was 27 years ago. The Jazz at Seville was only 14 years ago! Therefore, easier to find information on.

As for the performance....my point being that the Seville performance of this particular music was better at the seville concert than the German one.

  • Well, that is your opinion. I disagree and think they were their best at this time period, as far as this fusion music goes.

  • Not being an expert on their music and history, I bow to your knowledge.

I just enjoy this particular piece of music....whenever they played it. Their virtuoso skills are timeless.

  • This performance is not as good as 'Jazz at Seville'...but still pretty damn good. Accept it for what it is..rumba/samba...who cares...still great music and musicians

  • I have never heard of Jazz at Seville,

    what is it?

  • great great great

  • Rio Ancho is a rumba of course, but this is a fusion, Al di meola's presence removes the true "rumba" flavor. "Mediterranean Sundance" is a fusion, not a true rumba. Paco is strumming like rumba, but that is about it, and even still he changes it up a lot.

  • I think its one of the 10 most hardest to play classical pieces ever made

  • classical piece?!?!?!?!?

  • to see so much talent and passion is just amazing. love it!

  • big deal, he's using a pick, so fucking what, so, they shit now?

    twat,

  • Al's boots make him look like a devious leprechaun.

  • paco kicks ass and rules

  • beautiful

  • the best song ever!!!!!!!!

  • the best solo of al is on this version, i guess.

  • for this song i mean.

  • love the way Al headbangs at 4:41!!lol

  • simply amazing... Especially Paco De Lucia who doesn't use a pick to play so fast

  • Al is using a pick. His picking technique is highly developed and rhythmic.

  • Oh my bad My friend said neither of them use a pick.

  • Al uses a pick, he plays on steelstrings.

  • Awesome

  • i love this song ;)

  • Rofl nice boots Al ! If he could dress like he can play Al would be the man :)

  • How did you manage to check his boots? I could not let my eyes out od his guitar!

  • It might be the finest guitar playing i have heard.

  • Exacto :)

  • Cuttzor paco is not very good at jazz stuff and improvising al is the man at that

  • Yo tambien soy fan de Al =D

  • copión

  • from 8:00 its just incredible.

  • I am a great fan of Al Di Meola, but when you compare him in this version of the song with Paco Di lucia, OMG sure Paco is the one. This song is killing me, does anyone knows when was it originaly released

  • Paco de Lucia and Al Di Meola...amazing guitar duo. Paco is one of the best spanish guitar players of the history (for me the best was Andres Segovia).

in october paco de lucia comes to Argentina, im very happy :D

  • Paco is the best not only spanish but world guitar player of history. Assume it.

If you like more another one is another thing. I like more Tomatito than Paco, but Paco de Lucía is and will be the best guitar player of all history.
