Honestly, even being a Canadian here I RESPECT Ron Paul more than Obama comparing their political history. Obama, while a sweet guy, seems to be much the Manchurian Candidate, wooing the electorate (+ you), while Paul recognizes the role of the American government.

What we need most is liberty, not democracy. The founders recognized a democracy in its pure sense as a tyranny of the majority over the minority and/or the individutal. Ben Franklin is attributed to the following: "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb deciding what to have for dinner. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote."

This is why the founders gave us a REPUBLIC, and not a democracy.
