Him and his band Country Joe & The Fish were to play the next day. The people in charge of the music acts needed someone to fill in for a person who was presumably stuck in traffic. They found Joe and asked if he could be that man. He didnt have his own guitar, so they gave him someone elses that only had a string as a sling. He got tossed on stage and BOOM!

We didn't have a powerful enough sound system in RSA in those days so Laney flew over the complete sound system free of charge. I was about15 years old at the time and this changed my life forever.
