0:11 kinney michaels is the kid clapping his hands in this video. formerly gottlieb michaels. anyway, he would like to hook up with anyone who wants to talk about woodstock and relate the stories. it changed his life and im posting this for him. shiprockers at yahoo dot com is his email, please drop him a line if you want to chat about it with him he would love it!
0:09 The hippie with the bandana playing the guitar is Country Joe McDonald. He went there that day just to check it out and see the party. Him and his band Country Joe & The Fish were to play the next day. The people in charge of the music acts needed someone to fill in for a person who was presumably stuck in traffic. They found Joe and asked if he could be that man. He didnt have his own guitar, so they gave him someone elses that only had a string as a sling. He got tossed on stage and BOOM!
The proliferation of drugs among leftist movements was a deliberate sabotage by capitalist influences to weaken, distract, and 'dope up' the protesters, who were perceived as a threat to both capitalism, and to American global interests.
@nastakooza considering how many attended, with all the drug usage and lack of water , toilets , food, remember this was the 60's , no cell phones , bottled water didn't exist, and the crowd was huge
My parents couldn't get out there so instead they partied at home on a couple of hits of acid and made me instead, I was concived the weekend of woodstock.

People criticized the hippie generation for being filthy, having no expectation in life smoking weed, having sex all the time and many other things... but now it´s considered cool to be a gangster and kill each other in the streets... Bring back the 60´s and all about its culture and peace and love mentality PLEASE!!!!
@Euclides287 I hope you realize that this whole hippy carnival was a deliberate detraction to prevent the movement from ever achieving any real socio-economic or political change. In the end John Lenin condemned the movement and supported Mao.
"Love and Peace" is the last thing the world needs when unchecked corporate powers have made every politician a prostitute, controlling not only the media but the military and even the writing of laws. Workers are still treated as a disposable commodity.

@GalacticApple The world is way to greedy for something like this to happen nowadays. All people care about it money. And the music industry is absolutely rubbish besides a few like NeverShoutNever. I wish I was born in the 1950's. ):
@GalacticApple You are so right! My generation enjoyed the dance music of the late 80's & nineties. It was like the 2nd 60's but the Music & generation today is flat & very boring with their manufactured R&B with White girls sticking their buts in grow bags so they can emulate black Women. It's a very sad time in the History for young people! I'm glad I grew up when I did!
I'm with the guy below. I hope rap and hip hop and all people associated with it crash and burns. I hate this time in life. I would give anything to be born in like 1950 or something so I could just be able to witness firsthand this era. What a life people had!
@worldskater31 Yep youre on the right track......... For once, in this case, the hype was overwhelmed by the reality. All the great happenings occur by accident. If it broke the backers bank accounts to stage Woodstock, then it was a small price to pay for creating a genuine and natural historic moment. There was no choreography here.....
@worldskater31 If you really look into hiphop you'll see that 50cent and Snoop Dog don't represent all hip hop - Would you accept that kid rock and marilyn manson represent all rock music? Of course not. I agree that there is a really ugly side to Hiphop, but some of the most innovative music around is missed because of the bad reputation certain idiots have given the style. Hip hop started as a peace movement, and is meant to be about inclusivity and self expression, so don't wish it away!
@worldskater31 jesus you're a walking contradiction. "I hope rap and hip hop and all people associated with it crash and burns"??? Wow, what a really peaceful suggestion..
@worldskater31 i like rap music and hip hop. i will always like rap. but u are right. i wish i could gop back to the 70s when rap and crack wern't the same thing. listen to nwa express your self. that is real rap. and wood stock will always beat any rap concert ever. the rap now a days sucks. 50s 60s 70s is when music was music. from rap to contry to rock.
@worldskater31 despite the awsome music that the 60s had, the world was surrounded by alot of racism and violence. The Vietnam war and the civil rights movement wouldnt be that fun to be around. Imagine having an outright corrupt government. it may seem like a fun and interesting life, but in reality there was alot of hardship surrounding woodstock.
@worldskater31 dude i love 60s rock and all things Woodstock but dont curse out an entire genre because the 60s have come and gone. Modern Hip Hop artists may have spawned a ridiculous culture in the mainstream nowadays but there are plenty of incredible albums and artists to come out of the hip hop genre. No one has to enjoy rap if they aren't into it but to curse out an entire genre out of love for the 60s is a absurd.
@worldskater31 okay no, not one hippie would say that. You are a fucking poser. I love underground rap and respect other music and its culture. If you dont like something, stay away from it, its that simple. Geeze what a fucking child.
@BluntsNBeats well apparently 60 people thumbed up. im not saying im a hippie.. im trying to say that look what we used to have! what a life! something happened and now we are stuck in a hithole full of synthesizers and gangsters that think talking fast about how many "bitches" or expensive cars they have is music. no, i will take no part in it. i do stay away from it but for living in the united states of america i preserve the right for free speech. i may say what i please.
i don't know how you feel about what went on at woodstock 69 but that was a awesome, awesome event. there could have been as many as a half million fans whose intent was to get high on drugs, alcohol and music and share peace...gone but not forgotten.
This affected my father so deeply that he organised and held South Africa's first 24hr pop festival held at the rand Show Grounds, the very next year. Nearly every band in South Africa played. We didn't have a powerful enough sound system in RSA in those days so Laney flew over the complete sound system free of charge. I was about15 years old at the time and this changed my life forever.
I wish i could of been there...nothing like that will ever be done again. And if they do, it wont even be comparable because of the artists of our generation. Our souls wouldn't be drifted away like in that time.
I HOPE THIS GENERATION OF RAP CRASHES AND BURNES BRING BACK THE GROOVY START A YOUTUBE REVOLUTION THUMBS UP SO MORE PEOPLE SEE IF YOU DONT LIKE THIS YOU DONT LIKE WOODSTOCK

I was about15 years old at the time and this changed my life forever.

gummybear8914 1 year ago 3
I wish i could of been there...nothing like that will ever be done again. And if they do, it wont even be comparable because of the artists of our generation. Our souls wouldn't be drifted away like in that time.
