@HONAKERproductions Actually, there are, and they are remarkably few in the film. Women of color were actively excluded in first wave feminism, and the story of black suffragists is all but absent from this film, as well.
It's amazingly unbelievable that women actually had to deal with all of this just to be able to vote/gain more rights. Back then, men were idiots (there are some like that today)
not only does this movie show the hardships women went through for voting, but also it shows that women are strong headed beings who will stick with their beliefs. amazing movie
qualcuno mi sa dire i titoli delle canzoni che ci sono in questo film. Naturalmente non quella che già conosco degli Vertical Horizon e quella di Titiyo. GRAZIE
I loved this movie...it really "spoke to me" in a powerful way. Those women were incredible. It's because of them that I have the right to vote today. I will forever admire them, their determination and courage and their accomplishments.
Too bad women will vote en masse for the same party that oppress-ed/es them. Minorities, too - the 13, 14, 15, & 19th Amendments and Civil Rights Act of 1964 were ALL pushed forward by the Republicans. The 'peaceful Dems' started WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam ... and commissioned and dropped the nuclear bomb. Watch this film and see how Wilson 'took care' of those who opposed him. I'm not big for Republicans, but women - WAKE UP! Pay attention to why poverty, STDs and abuse is up for us!
Before I saw this movie, I would say that I would never vote for anything, now that I have seen this I feel horrible for saying that. These brave women went through so much just so we can vote, and most of us don't even care.

Giving women the right to vote allows them to vote for wars that only men will be drafted to fight. It is my misfortune to live at a time of women's empowerment.
@tornadotouchdown since when has war been decided by vote? you have no say in who your country goes to war with thats your governments decision. but yes you will fight it.
@tornadotouchdown Only Congress can vote for the U.S. to go to war, and only 17% of Congress is women, so it is still really the men who are making that decision.
we're doing the suffragette movenment in history; we watched a clip of this movie, over the song "cant hold us down" and ive been trying for ages to find out what film it was from! i never knew america had a suffragette movent too; i guess i thought women just got the vote by magic...
I am so glad to hear that schools are allowing that this film be shown in classrooms. I've been fighting to show this - as I think it is the only film that shows what these women, and the men who supported them, went through, and highlights what they gave up. We only live one life, and they gave it all. I just have yet to make my superiors take this message seriously. However, it is uplifting to know that others have been able!
We just showed it at our high school, and it assuredly changed 99 percent of students' perspectives on the whole movement. None of us ever thought of the movement as that violent before.
I'd love to see the whole video: I'll get the DVD out from the shop! Love Hilary Swank. Can't believe women in the USA didn't get the vote till 1920! Wonder when all men (not just property owners) got the vote?
You might wanna look up when France gave women the vote! It's not just the US. And it's not over. We're still fighting for equality on many fronts all over the world :-|
Gives resonance to a statement Naomi Wolf made in 'FIRE WITH FIRE' about how every worthwhile Movement needs a radical, obnoxious fringe to validate its seriousness!...'push the boundaries'
@cherubicnerd actually there is.

I think it would have been an interesting story if they hadn't turned it into a stupid soap opera.
As it is, it looks like just another overwrought, flashy-trashy made-for-tv piece of garbage. I never watch crap like that.

legitimately it is one of the few films that can really capture the struggle of women's suffrage and convey the pain oppressed women endure.
