umm i need to know, after the Eldazi spawns are sarifice for the one colourless mana, does it leave the battlefield after my turn? my friend said it does, but i disagree since it doesnt state that the colourless mana must be removed from play. Help please? :) thanks

Wait, can he sacrifice the eldrazi spawn the turn he put it onto the battlefield? Wont it be affected by summoning sickness and therefore not be able to activate it that turn?

@Jonedski Thats only IF you happen to have those at the exact time at which I decide to play those cards. Thats also only IF I decide to let you do that (which I wouldnt) and not counter it. Truth is, You can beat an Eldrazi deck if you zerg early on. If you dont. Youre a 4 year old fighting an MMA champion.

@Maraudernumber2 How would you actually counter anything with a proper Eldrazi deck? Fetches, Eldrazi Drones and some sort of mana-cycling would be good. And i got many more examples how a Vampire deck would kill those Eldrazi way too easy. The truth is that they are just stupid timmies that look awesome in your hand but mean a little in the battlefield.

All cards except tokens and land cards count as spells; Artifacts, Creatures, Sorceries, Instants, and Enchantments are all spells. That's why they printed 2 counterspells in the Magic 2010 Base set, Essence Scatter, which counters target creature spell, and Negate, which counters target non-creature spell.

Generally, you can assume a lot about the classification of cards from reading the distinctions they make on cards that seem nearly identical.

The only Eldrazi Creature with protection from colored spells is the terrifying Legendary Creature; Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. However, seeing as his mana cost is 15 mana, if you haven't won the game before your opponent casts him, you've already lost. That being said, while he cannot be countered, he can still be discarded to the graveyard from the hand, and exiled from the graveyard before his triggered ability, which shuffles the graveyard back into the library, resolves.

@akapyro Well actually even if you discard emrakul he still get's back to the deck cause it says "If Emrakul is put into a graveryard from anywhere, it's owner shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library" so not only emrakul returns to the deck but all the cards that were on the graveyard, this ability works even if he is discarded.

I'm saying you can cast a spell or effect in response to that triggered ability going onto the stack; it doesn't immediately resolve, and although it still will, you can still respond with an effect that will exile the creature, via either Cemetery Reaper's ability, or Withered Wretch's ability. In this case, Emrakul's ability still resolves, only Emrakul is exiled from the game before it jumps back into the library. . .

I'm not saying his ability doesn't "work" if he's discarded. In fact, it does. However, it's a triggered ability that goes onto the stack (like any spell or ablitiy you cast, activate, or trigger) and doesn't resolve immediately. In response, I could exile him from the graveyard before it resolves, and then the ability would resolve, and only the graveyard would be shuffled back into the deck, sans Emrakul. That's how you abuse the stack :)

@thatparkourdude actually one has protection from colored spells and its a 15/15 with flying my friend figured out how to play on the 6th turn so yes they are a pain in the butt. sure you could kill the ones that dont matter like the 7/7 but you'll have the 15/15 and the one that lets you take the things you annihilated...ohh thats fun.

Emrakuls Hatcher :D 4 of them in a deck is pretty awesome. 3 Eldrazi spawn tokens each and sacrifice 4 to get the 9 mana cost Eldrazi out without paying full cost.

Some pretty mean things will happen with eldrazi. Plenty of options out there for mana pool injections, I personally want to try a everflow chalice/conqueror's pledge/mana echoes combo to get them out, with some spawn. Cloudpost's may come in handy also.
