  • Pandora Radio led me to these guys =)

  • I saw them live at The Independent in San Fransisco, I was close enough to the stage to touch it. They most certainly DO have an awesome live show. It was an amazing show.

  • It's...ok. Good not Great. I'm appreciate that she's not all pierced up. The energy level in this video didn't make it seem like they'd have stage presence. Like I said, good not great.

  • I discovered this amazing band thanks to ROXY -3

  • Yep, last.fm.

That's the way I found out 'bout these guys and girl too

  • Liz Powell, best female rocker today! One of the best human rockers in fact!

  • @mjnotso98 Three way with Liz and Karen O!! :O

    OMFG! That would be insane...

  • @America2470 Heh, that wasn't what I was getting at, at all.... but yeah can't say it sounds bad!

  • @mjnotso98 Hell no it don't sound bad! HIGH FIVE! :D

  • @America2470 I'll normally a guy who uses props to show his gratitude, but for you I'll make an exception. /HIGH FIVE

  • LOVE ITTT

  • buy a siriusxm radio, listen to channel 26

    and taddaaaaa!

  • found it on a music channle on tv and loved it so i found it on youtube and loved it even more un!

  • found it on a music channle on tv un.

  • if she didn't use the same vocal tone, it would have been better for me...

  • While this band has yet to "click" with me I still found this video unique and well made.

  • They sound a lot like this indie group called SALT. They had this really good song "honor me."

  • Hot indie rocker girl playing an SG? I'm sold.

  • Just all the Land of Talk Lyrics are amazing.

They're so perfectly put together, and poetic, but speak out for what should be done.

  • who ever comes up with the ideas for there music videos is a creative genius!

  • i discovered this song in a quebecer tv show named 'Les Invincibles' and now i can't stop listening this genius band!! Elizabeth have a beautiful and powerful voice!

  • AMAZIIIIIING!!!

  • speak to me, I've been missing you my whole life. Touch me now....

  • darkly beautiful

  • what an awesome band!!

  • why did she get a hair cut

  • What are some other good songs by them, I'm reallyyyyyyyyyyyy liking their sound.

  • i've recently got into them too.. very good stuff. get any of their ep's/records. songs to listen to: some are lakes, summer special, breaxxbaxx, it's okay... any of them.. listen to it all!

  • @UrSooperJealous 'Some Are Lakes', 'It's Okay', 'The Man Who Breaks Things', 'Swift Coin', 'Quarry Hymns' for starters. I realize this is an old question, but in case you still needed to know.

  • @Mineav Thanks a lot! :D I appreciate it

  • Can she really play those riffs and sign such a melody at the same time LIVE? If yes, than WOW!

  • you must be ignorant to think that Sonic Youth is less "awesome" than Fugazi. But then again, its just a matter of taste isn't it. Still i'd prefer Sonic Youth.

  • LMAO

    you are hilarious.

anyways...sonic youth comes nowhere close (and they will never be) to being as fucking awesome as Fugazi.

  • agreed!

  • The part at 3:12 sounds a lot similar to the chorus from Smallpox Champion by Fugazi.

being influenced is great but a direct rip off is crap.

  • slap yourself in the face the song is 3:32 so 20 seconds till the end and you try to tear it apart

  • haha that will be my new gimmick, ripping songs apart based on the last 20 seconds. I love it!

oh and the slap didn't work, still blatant rip off.

I demand that 20 seconds be removed.

I will be writing Ian and Guy about this matter.

and they don't have a sense of humor.

  • A direct rip off? The music is different, the lyrics are half similar, and the lyrical pattern is set at different speeds. Music is all about patterns, though, and it's impossible to come up with completely original patterns. A musician will inevitably copy a pattern from an existing one in any given song. Shall we discredit all blues and classical music because of the prevalent patterns in each genre? But you seem to worship Fugazi, so I'd expect a fanatical yes.

  • 0zwy's got the right idea. Originality is illusion, children.

  • TEACH ME MASTER

  • dear god it sounds exactly like it, even having the same vowel sounds....my heart is broken

  • I just now heard of this band about a month ago. I rly needa find a way to find good music faster <_<

  • @DrJohnsonMD Last.fm, gives real good recommendations

  • @DrJohnsonMD last.fm one of the best places to search.

  • @the1brippie Yeah, I've been using that and Pandora for years but I still seem to miss out on a lot of good stuff :(

  • @DrJohnsonMD follow your reccomendations trail and sift through the sub-par until you find something you like, ask people you admire for their tastes, look up soundtracks to adverts, films, and tv shows (whatever you think of them the twilight franchise and skins -american and british- all have great ones) listen to the radio (zane lowes 9pm slot on radio 1 is occasionallly worth listening to) you could also read nme but i wouldn't bother.. :)

  • @DrJohnsonMD Oh, and spotify.

  • Too cool for school...

  • So indie.

  • This is so ace

  • I've loved this song for a long time now, I'm so glad to finally learn who's responsible for this wonderfulness.

  • I think she would do real good in Broken Social Scene...Hope they come out with something new soon too!

  • She substituted for Amy Leslie and Emily on the 27th in Toronto, as all three main girls couldn't show. She was Amazing!!!!!

  • Liz Powell is not so much an Emily Haines wannabe, but the middle sister in the Broken Social Scene lineage. The complete little sister is still in the shadows somewhere...

  • i love this song!

  • I hope they tour California soon. :(

  • Pretty damn good =)

  • These guys are great, I saw them at Hillside a couple summers ago and they were awesome. I wish they were playing a show in canada!

  • i love this song but tbh yeah, i pictured an emily haines looking girl in my head before i saw this film clip.

  • I had the same :( but the music is still great

  • Elizabeth Powell is cooler and prettier than Emily Haines...

  • Who cares?

  • Just making a comment on what someone said...I'm allowed to...

  • But the fact that youre making these comparisons because they're females bothers me. You wouldn't compare Brendan Canning to Kevin Drew with their appearance.

Your comment was stupid. Besides, Emily would totally kick Elizabeth's ass.

  • I love Elizabeth, but he's right.

Emily is on an entirely different level.

  • If you've ever been to a Metric show or seen Emliy Haines play you would preobably know she is possibley the biggest bitch on earth. i liked her until i heard some of the stuf she said. At a show in my town she told the crowd they were the reason Kurt Cobain killed himself and stumbled off stage after like half a song

  • A couple of friends and I met Emily Haines after a Metric show, and she was really nice. I'd hardly consider her the "biggest bitch on earth".

I have heard that Kurt Cobain was a pretentious dick, though...

  • Completely depends on the mood she's in, to be honest.

  • Well, considering what other bands he was clumped in with on MTV, I'd probably come off as a pretentious dick being compared to Alice in Chains, and having everyone in my private life all the time. as well.

  • seen live, just awesome

and not poor man's metric... these guys bring something totally new to the scene, love them!

  • chorus is kinda cool

  • i love you

  • Good for them. Played a show with them in NYC a couple years ago before their current manager picked 'em up and got them going. Liz is looking great. Video doesn't do them justice, and this isn't their best song at all. Summer special is my fav.

  • she really doesnt have the voice for this. don't get me wrong she has a good voice, just not for this style. kinda sounds like pulling the claws off of a cat.

  • i saw these guys live almost two months ago when they opened for cuff the duke. you should all check out cuff the duke's new album.

  • her voice is sooo appealing to me

  • she sound just like the singer from die mannequin

  • fucking amazing live =] <33

  • Well done ***** Check Judy and I out from Vancouver Island Canada. Thanks

  • i dig it, first time checking them out, and boy did i "check them out" haha,

    cheers

  • amazing band!!!!!, great song

  • Nice song!

  • Yeah, I'm so glad they finally got signed. Congats Liz!
