Very awesome !! Fedor #1..to bad the USA listen to Dana White who is all about money and refuses to recognize Fedor was the greatest at the sport that he tries to promote..shows how ridiculous MMA has become.
Fedor is treated like a God in Korea and Japan. He exemplifies spiritual and personal growth with his humility and sportsmanship. People with Shinto and Buddhist beliefs understand his greatness better than Americans. I am an American.
@Dreaklock yeah he did. Fedor is amazing as a fighter, but he is a legend because of his calm and respectful attitude. Refreshing to see fighters since him treat it more as a sport, and less as a brawl.
i know fedor and his brother are putting on a sambo show for the audience but it's still eerie to see fedor tap out from that ankle lock! surreal really!!
Igor Vovchanchyn, the one who taught that looping punch style to Fedor. Not to assume that he doesn't have his own style. It's just, that's where he got that style, to my understanding.
nice video sambo is such a adaptive sport i didnt know you could get out of such situations like they do.looks like there almost dancing..but more deadly
but he employs a really unorthodox style of punching. i've never seen anything like it. he lobs very swift, whip like punches. does anyone know what style of punching that is? i've heard it was something from Systema (a Russian martial art).
I'll kinda agree with that, It has the ground grappling/wrestling aspect, an extensive leg lock system that you won't likely find being taught in most BJJ schools and lastly it covers clinching/throwing which is also not too emphasized in most BJJ schools. I find most BJJ guys learning Judo or freestlye wrestling somewhere else to supplement their takedowns.
I'm not sure when, but it was in Korea. I'd say it's about 2-3 years old or so, since that's the amount of time I've had it on my PC. If I remember correctly, it was fairly recent when I got it.
wow, awesome vid, never seen it before. I was a wrestler for 6 years, but I wish had also trained in Sambo growing up, then I could've made the transition into MMA or something. Oh wellz...

What an awesome group of fighters. It is rare to see a fighter as a role model but these men make the sport of fighting proud.

The real brothers of destruction.
Can you imagine if they stared tagteam in MMA, that would be insane....
They make Sambo look so easy, taking the takedowns like nothing, the smaller older gentlemen is no joke, he's thier trainer....great team.

your right ,i thought the same thing when Fedor tapped, its something you never see !

Ya Igor and Fedor are good friends I heard..
And you can clearly see Fedor's and Igors punching similarity the difference is steps.. Fedor has better footwork and more complete game.
But Igor is the man.. He still holds the biggest winning streak world record in MMA

sambo is the best martial art for MMA!
even fedor says it! :D

Yea but he wouldnt have got anywhere in mma without combining it with boxing.

edmun09 2 years ago
I dont know where it came from, but Ive tried it on the heavy bag, and you can punch much harder using his technique
Gplex 2 years ago
how do you actually execute the technique? I've tried imitating him, but I almost always do a hook :S
edmun09 2 years ago
It is a modify hook, but it straightens up at the end.

Can anyone explain to me the difference between this and MMA? I know they are wearing a Gi in sambo...
Joel139 3 years ago
Besides the Kurta [Gi top] not much. For all intents and purposes Combat Sambo is MMA with a Gi top.
