@LiimLsan Hi Liim, and I don't mean any offense; you just brought a smile to my face in a kind of Yogi Berra way as I am trying to figure out how to halve a trio? Or, are you referring to just how spectacular Jack Bruce's bass playing and singing is that you give him a two plus Clapton a one and Baker a one for four? There are many who would agree with that assessment. Personally, I am such a big Winwood admirer that Blind Faith got a four alone just with him.
yeah, i know what it was about. i know who they drafted. that comment was some guy talking about how the govt only sent blacks to Nam and i told him this is protesting the draft, not just the drafting of blacks. so, i know who they drafted. my uncle was almost drafted until they discovered he had flat feet.
the "4th" is an interval - you take the 4th note of the major scale of the key in question, for example, the major scale of E goes...E - F# - G# - A! So guitar in E, use "A" harmonica.
if it's in the key of E blues, then you use an A harmonica. It works like this: the harmonica you use for a blues song would be in the key of the fourth scale degree up from the blues key. Unless you're bob dillon; "hey bob, you sure it's in the right key?" "eh, it's a harmonica-"
@titostacos song's scale key is in A major, so you'd want to use the IVth of the major scale to figure out which harmonica to use in most blues like this. The IVth of the A major is D, so you would use a Harmonica tuned to D major for this song, in order to get the same phrasing as Jack is getting. There are other ways to go about it for blues playing, but using the IV is the easiest.
The song here is played in the key of D. Otherwise you are correct in saying the key of the harmonica would typically be in the IV (4th) of the key the toon is played in. That would put the harp for this toon in the key of G'. When I say 'typically' however, not being a harp player, I wouldn't be surprised that because this is a 'major' country blues toon, the harp could be in another key altogether.

A blues harp is always a fourth above the key the band is in. I haven't checked but this sounds like E so the harp would be in A.

@titostacos I was trying to figure that out as well. It's three chords: D, A, G. I would guess a harmonica in D.

@titostacos G since it's in the key of D and you'll need to play crossharp.
