  • A FANTASTIC SONG & SLIDESHOW.....THANK YOU !

  • GORGEOUS SONG!!!

  • 9th grade 1970 what memories 56 today...JESUS is coming soon

  • This Curtis Mayfield song was made popular by The Impressions in 1964 - the best version (IMO)... ;-)

  • @ocoee96 This version is by far the best!!!

  • Love it..................

  • "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" was brian hylands 1960 hit too.

  • I was 13 when I first heard this song in 1970. I didn't know at the time but it left an impression in me and four years later I met a girl with long dark hair and beautiful emerald green eyes who swept me off my feet. When I first met her this song came to my mine.

  • Hey can anyone here upload ALL the brian hyland songs from his 1970 album "Brian HYland" ?? I would LOVE to hear them! " Mail Order Gun" "Slowdown" "Lorrayne" "im without you" and "You and Me". I cant find these on youtube anywhere! So if anyone has them let me know! ") Thanks!

  • Beautiful and mysterious women and great song. Thanks for uploading.

  • Not the original but IMHO the best version of it....heh, it's great....!!!!

  • My favorite version too..Major Lance did a good version as well...

  • This is for my very own Gypsy Woman.

  • I love this song so much. I'm a 70"s fan. I was born in the early sixties so I grew up with all these songs. I can't believe I'm hearing it again!!!

  • great remake.5***** .

  • GREAT! GREAT! GREAT!

I remember seeing Brian in concert in Charlotte, N.C. sponsored by WAYS radio years and years ago. It was awsome.

  • i like this better than the original...nice!

  • I liked both this version and the original.

  • I love this song! This is fabulous! I was born in 1973, so this version is just 3 years older than I am!

  • this is for amanda nicole

  • tina turner improved proud mary?????????????????

  • GREAT SONG

  • @Tomsouthrock I cannot embellish on what you said except that this should be played and heard more often.

  • Hyland and Shannon took a classic from the Impressions and improved it just like Ike and Tina Turner did with Proud Mary from CCR.

  • @mayduck1 I agree!

  • This is music.

  • Recall the gypsies and Corporal Agarn on the 60's sitcom F-Troop.... ''Intresting

    -Very Intresting.''

  • 5 people have had bad relationships with a gypsy woman.

  • Good rendition, but tops the original? No sir ...

  • Brian Hyland with Del Shannon at the controls breathed new life into an already classic tune, Del Shannon in a recording studio was a bleeding Genius! Rest easy Del, you were one in a million! 74sodapop thanks for the upload and as always kudos to The Tube for the power and space.

  • OMG....So Many Many Memories!!!!

    Regards.....

  • i like to hold my next door neighbour's cat during the chorus of this song, swaying it lightly from side to side in time with the lyrics

  • gibeau64, Vocally WEAK? Wow! I'd better get my ears checked man, you must be hearing something I can't hear........ maybe it's like the dog whistle thing. I agree with the rest of your post though.

  • Cool as hell - can't believe it is the same guy who made those clown records some 10 years earlier

  • Great song! Thanks so much for posting and for the song having such high quality sound.

  • I remember the Impressions and their great version ... of Curtis' classic ...also remember the Jay and the American cover but Brian's cover ... to me is the best ... I even like his rendition from the early 90's ...

  • Written by Curtis Mayfield and first recorded with The Impressions, I believe.

  • is this a curtis meyfield song? Or originally by Brian? I'm also curious about "Sealed with a Kiss". Love both of these songs regardless.. like i said curious...

  • @GuitarristA1quimista def curtis

  • I AM a GYPSY WOMAN that wants Brian Hyland to sing this to me! He is sooooo sexy and soulful!

  • nice

  • Vocally, this song is weak, given the limited range of the barotone trying to sing tenor, but musically, it was the best version of this song. Still, he has a great of passion for the content of the song. I have always liked the tension and sex-appeal of the song, not to mention the feminine mystique imbeded in the story.

  • I was born in 1962, so this was the version I grew up with. Only in my teens did I first hear the Impressions' version. In my mind, both are superb, but this is the one that gives me chills.

  • Being Romany on my fathers side of the family,I must say for a Gido, Brian Hyland did an excellent job on this song.of course most us don't live this way any longer, but I remember my grandmothers family did, what an experience to meet them bk in 61'

  • They have a "Like" and a "Dislike" key, but they don't have a "LOVETHIS" key.

  • My first love song! I still love you wherever you are Lisa T.!

  • never forget this song. home on leave in 1971 at will rogers world airport in okla city. stoped by the 21 club waiting for ride home and played this on (jjuke box). what an evening with the cocktail waittress. she was a gypsy 'woman' thanx for the mems. sailor sam

  • i came home on leave from the navy in 1971 stoped by the 21 club at will rogers world airport and played this song on jukebox. loved it then love it now and the cocktail wattress in the club what a night thanx for the memories

  • I Love this song so much!! There is a picture of a Gypsy Woman with a black cat at 1:54 does anyone know the artist? It is so Pretty!

  • Really great song, it was the 70's and enloved...

  • One of the truly great covers. The original by Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions is arguably better and a little more haunting but this is so fine. Anyone who doesn't like this is "is an idiot" as I read so many write..

  • Great backbeat...great song of its time.

  • Love the song...there's just no controlling the Gypsy in the soul. I don't really want to.

  • Pesuassions version is good

  • "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini" was Brian's first Big Hit then it was "Sealed With a Kiss" and then "Gypsy Woman" . I thoroughly enjoyed working with Brian who was loved by his fans and he did a great job of leading the band onstage.

  • Hi. No, The Feelies were not....alternative....or what people about 20 years after that would call us. But, we were very progressive in our understanding of solid Rock and how we interpreted '60's and '70's music. We made the tunes we played....our own. We were....different. People loved our band. The Feelies. Thx. George Clark

  • Grate song, all ways good to hear it on the radio.

  • I backed up Brian in 1969 with my band The Feelies on a short tour in the Northwest including Burlington,Washington at the Burlington Roller Barn and we had a ball! The place was packed with teens who LOVED to DANCE! Brian and the band shared a beer together after the gig while loading up our equipment. Bryian Hyland------One of the nicest people I have ever met and wish I could back him up again! Georgeclarkdrummer

  • Definitely his best. Must be heard on a good stereo to capture the "depth" of the song........it's fantastic. The 45 RPM record did not do it justice. One of the best songs from 1970 for sure!!

  • I was 11 yo when this great song came out. music is the one and only thing that sparks my memory when it comes to remembering anything prior to 15 yo. gypsy woman was playing during the credits to a movie or series I was watching and a flood of great memories came to me. just when I thought I've heard every one of my memory throw backs, along comes another. Thank you! thank you! thanj you! Brian.

  • @keemo830

  • Great song-find a better with greater back beat....

  • What a song - it was meant to be. The slow, soulful flow is a sweet journey.

  • I enjoyed this video. Written by the great Curtis Mayfield.

  • This is a great memory maker from high school for me. It is one of my favorite songs from 1970. I hadnt heard it in a while until I receently saw Heart Break Kid with Ben Stiller and this classic was in it. Thanks for posting it.

  • Absolute perfection in production, passion and talented singing. Brian Hyland is so underrated and this is a classic. MESSAGE TO ALL RADIO STATIONS......... PLAY CLASS TRACKS LIKE THIS ONE.

  • AWESOME! THANKS

  • Thanks for posting this wonderful song! I saw Brian in Concert years ago - along with Dion, Neil Diamond and a few others. Brian sang his standards in the first half and then opened with this great tune in the second half of the program. I couldn't believe it when he was booed trying to sing Gypsy Woman! Made me feel terribly sorry for him - and angry at the audience! *****

  • @cjthemusicman

muchas gracias cj ! :))) it was a pleasure!

is it true that he was booed? so cruel - unbelievable...

  • Gypsy Woman - Brian Hyland ♪♫ is a 5/5 ★s

  • Great song and video!! Thanks for posting this, from a Great "Time" in music!!

  • Excellent song and excellent presentation!

  • @John1948One Glad you all like it. I love this song. Oldies Radio never plays it. They are lacking in vision.

  • @74sodapop: I think somebody contemporary has to re-record it; maybe it will be re-discovered then.

  • @74sodapop A few stations (the independent ones) do play this song, as well as other really great oldies. WDRC in Hartford, CT, is one of those stations.

  • One of his greatest hits, after Sealed with a kiss and Itsy Bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini. Hyland continues to tour internationally with his son Bodi, who assists on drums from time to time.
