I used to type dirty words all the time or things for my Mac to say when I first got one 15 years ago, LOL. They've had text-to-speech with multiple voices (each with variable speed & pitch settings) since OS 7 or earlier. Fred is the first voice, the one you hear a lot on TV and in movies, although later voices that they added, like the one used here, have a more polished, human sound.
