I think that the pastor was what everyone thought would be the logical pairing for Christy and so did she for a while when Neil left. She was always in love with Neil but loved the preacher in another way.
@DigiScrap34 Since she was close to comatose with an extremely high fever, so he didn't know she could hear him. He was angry at GOD for so many years, you can't be that angry and not believe him on some level.
i'm so glad she married neil, i didn't care for the preacher guy, can't put my finger on it but he just doesn't appea l to me, maybe its that scottish accent that i love neil
I know there are a lot of Neil fans, and I like him, but that preacher from the series was so the man! And considering "Christy" really married the preacher in real life, I wish it would have went that way.
I know what you mean, but Cathrine Marshal wrote this 'based' on the story of her mother's life. The story between Christy and Neil is very romatic, especially since he comes to know Christ. Either way, it's a powerful story. :D
But in the book Catherine Marshal has Christy end up with Neil, David was never right for Chirsty and that's pretty evident in the book. She got the idea for the book based from her mothers stories - but the book is fictional, its not exactly her mom's story.
@Koschnitzgirl I couldn't have married thought of marrying the David from the book. Now maybe the series and movies, but the David from the book was mean and condescending. The author also stated what you said as well. It was a fictionalized account of her mothers life, but with changes as are most fictional stories based on true stories.
@TVwriter23 I agree - the David in the book is not the sweet preacher in the show - he was as groapy handed as a teenage boy at prom, whereas the doctor was ALWAYS a gentleman
@Koschnitzgirl Based on a true story doesn't mean it has to turn out like the true story. It's just using real events as inspiration for a fictionalized story. That's where writers get their stories from. Real life whether through family or through news papers.
Is there a part in the movie where she goes to Neil and tells him that she wants to marry him?

"Time heals all wounds" for me it really hasn't. But God does heal all wounds.

It's really weird to get used to the "new" Christy - but thank goodness Dr. MacNeil is the same!

Not according to Leonora's decendents. In real life, she married the preacher, Mr. Wood.
