How insane it is when people stick up for what is wrong. Not only are they oblivious, they also have to stick up for criminals and mafia type billionaires. That is unacceptable. I guess the only reason I can think of why they do it is because they are intimidated into looking up to rich capitalists. Or looking up to movie stars, the same principle. It's mental submissiveness what causes people not to think for themselves and even to stick up for their idols.

Stickam and similar technologies, I think, will prove to be like the TV is today. Yes, TV does enlighten us and bring us things we would never see, but it also homogenizes people, makes them feel impotent and is overall, a waste. Virtual technology makes all this communicating easier, but I think in the future, we will see more of its negative effects, especially in the increased isolation and use of this technology for frivolous purposes.

My initial response to hearing about youtube was a feeling of suspicion. I thought, "great it's gonna be America's home movies. Who gives a shit about your wiffle bat armed brat hitting you in the nuts".

But in this short time since youtube's birth it, at lest to me, and this is a grand statement, has become one of the most important things to ever happen to humanity. (hear that? that's the sound of a thousand eyes rolling)Youtube and websites like it are more important every day.

It really gets on my nerves when people try to write off the internet as a virtual reality. The internet is a communications tool not some spooky realm powered my magical devil dust.

I can't get my head around the logic that says someone leaving you a video message on youtube or talking to you over stickam is less real than leaving you a message on your answer machine or sending you a fax.

Am i less real than that guy who just walked past your window because i live 3000 miles away?

I would just restate Verens' question: "Have you ever changed your mind about anything since you started [your campaign]?" Is so, what? Since your goals are very clear, it would interesting to have a number of your subscribers making videos expressing their take on your ideas just to see if we really understand.

The extension of communication via the internet is tranforming society. Many of the people on YT making vids on epistemology, postmodernism, etc. -- are extending their discussions over to Stickam.

How is this bad? It's a virtual salon, living room.

There's philosophical discussions dealing with religion, politics, the meaning of life, and there's even that hirsute Inmendham. ^_^
