I was debating seeing this film but bad pacing is one of my pet peeves in movies. I can deal with bad acting. Whatever. I was very sad to see that the Green Lantern was, like you said, suckage. However, I thought the film had another redeeming quality to it: about 90 minutes of Ryan Reynolds. Not bad. :D
I love watching your show and for the most part agree with most of your movie reviews. I just got back from Watching this and i liked it. I have to agree with this review. I was so disappointed in this movie. I also think the villain should have been Sinestro. But I guess they're holding their wad on that. Regardless, they should have blown a big Sinestro load on everybody as he was the best part of the movie.
Thank you! This was an awful movie on every level. What is really sad is to know how much time, money, and skill was involved only to see it turn askew and implode on itself. Sinestro was laughable. In fact every time he appeared on screen there were snickers and chuckles across the theater.
It COULD have been better, but i still left the theater pretty satisfied. Better than most superhero movies usually turn out to be. I'd give it an above average rating for it's genre . Plus the end of the credits easter egg was pretty sweet too

Yeah I saw this and thought the same. I'm a huge DC Comics fanboy and I really hope they don't continue to make complete crap. The batman movies are good, but if they screw up another Superman Movie, I'll be pissed. IMO the last good superman movie was Superman II.

I respectfully disagree, Ryan. I went into the film with little expectations and was pleasantly surprised. And I thought Ryan Reynolds did a decent job. Did it rock my world like Superman or Batman did? No. Was it a perfect film or story? No. But it was a fun popcorn flick.
Do you think that you disliked the movie more than you would have just because you had such high expectations? I agree with you about almost everything, and yet I still left the theater with a meh rating for it. I'm thinking it might be because I intentionally left all of my expectations really low because I didn't want to get burned.
I think this is a hit or miss movie depending on the person. This is one your really have to look at the Audience rating. On rotten tomatoes it got a 61% from audiences which means more than half the people that watched it liked it. It obviously didn't do well with critics (Ryan obviously falls into this category) because they gave it a 26%. So I suggest you go see it for yourself and make your own decision.
I didn't neccessarily think the movie was that bad but I do think it has huge potential to be a hit or a miss. I just like Green Lantern so I'll take the bad film until a good one comes out (just like the Hulk and Incredible Hulk movies).
I can totally see where you're coming from with the review but I think that it at least deserved a "Meh!" rating. Suckage is a little too harsh. There were a lot of elements of humor in the film that really worked for me, both as a filmmaker and a comic book fan. Humor doesn't excuse everything else, but I think it bumps it from a "Suckage" to a "Meh!" at least.
I didn't think the acting was that bad. I liked how they made fun things they couldn't avoid without pissing off fans, like his mask, etc. Overall, it was better than I thought since I thought it was going to be really bad. I left the movie feeling satisfied. I woulda gave it a 6-7 out of 10 when I thought it was going to be a 4-5.
I didn't like it either- the effort on the effects were good but because they made a huge effort on the effects, the final boss battle sucked. I was expecting a big big boss fight with all the other lanterns to help him. And the rest of the lanterns didn't show up that much on the movie. You'd expect them to fight the bad guy because they're meant to be protecting their universe.. big disappointment :L Great Review Ryan! :3
From the moment I saw the first trailer I knew this was gonna be major suckage. The effects--which is what most people found to be the redeeming quality--don't even look good. They DEFINITELY chose the wrong actors to play these characters, and the fact that Ryan Reynolds was playing it funny instead of serious just put me over the edge.

I respectfully disagree, Ryan. I went into the film with little expectations and was pleasantly surprised. And I thought Ryan Reynolds did a decent job. Did it rock my world like Superman or Batman did? No. Was it a perfect film or story? No. But it was a fun popcorn flick.

Do you think that you disliked the movie more than you would have just because you had such high expectations? I agree with you about almost everything, and yet I still left the theater with a meh rating for it. I'm thinking it might be because I intentionally left all of my expectations really low because I didn't want to get burned.

I think this is a hit or miss movie depending on the person. This is one your really have to look at the Audience rating. On rotten tomatoes it got a 61% from audiences which means more than half the people that watched it liked it. It obviously didn't do well with critics (Ryan obviously falls into this category) because they gave it a 26%. So I suggest you go see it for yourself and make your own decision.

I didn't neccessarily think the movie was that bad but I do think it has huge potential to be a hit or a miss. I just like Green Lantern so I'll take the bad film until a good one comes out (just like the Hulk and Incredible Hulk movies).

I can totally see where you're coming from with the review but I think that it at least deserved a "Meh!" rating. Suckage is a little too harsh. There were a lot of elements of humor in the film that really worked for me, both as a filmmaker and a comic book fan. Humor doesn't excuse everything else, but I think it bumps it from a "Suckage" to a "Meh!" at least.

I didn't think the acting was that bad. I liked how they made fun things they couldn't avoid without pissing off fans, like his mask, etc. Overall, it was better than I thought since I thought it was going to be really bad. I left the movie feeling satisfied. I woulda gave it a 6-7 out of 10 when I thought it was going to be a 4-5.

I didn't like it either- the effort on the effects were good but because they made a huge effort on the effects, the final boss battle sucked. I was expecting a big big boss fight with all the other lanterns to help him. And the rest of the lanterns didn't show up that much on the movie. You'd expect them to fight the bad guy because they're meant to be protecting their universe.. big disappointment :L Great Review Ryan! :3

From the moment I saw the first trailer I knew this was gonna be major suckage. The effects--which is what most people found to be the redeeming quality--don't even look good. They DEFINITELY chose the wrong actors to play these characters, and the fact that Ryan Reynolds was playing it funny instead of serious just put me over the edge.
I knew this movie was gonna suck from the beginning. And nobody believed me....

@hinesward9 I think almost all DC movie suck other than Batman. The Dark Knight was the second Batman film, 'Batman Begins' was the first. But I definitely think the third will be just as awesome.
