Whatever the benefit from doing cool wheelies is, the risk is too great for me. :) If I hit the ground at that speed, I'd be out of work (self employed) and no work means no money. @obamasamonkey the 250 is a starter bike, I live in the netherlands if your 18-21 it must <25Kw thats 33 bph aka a 250r. A R6 is a 97 bhp. you cant compare the 2 bikes. The 250R is a great bike to learn.

I love my 250 <3. It's nimble, light, and enough to have fun on without going crazy. Riding mountainous, curvy roads is my thing, so the bike is perfect for that purpose.

Im going to get my first bike soon. Im 16 so i will probably only be able to get a 250 because of insurance costs. It will be all i can afford. Would you recommend it as a first bike? How fast does it go in km? I didn't think it would have been powerful enough to pull wheelies. I have been riding dirt bikes since i was 7 so adapting shouldn't be a problem.

@Northernsharpshooter if you want to stunt don't get a 250. CBR600rr and CBR600f4i's are both solid starter bikes. Ive seen 2001 CBR600's for right around 2.5k. Throw on a stunt cage and a 12 bar and your set.

i dont know about the ninja 250s but the 600,750,900,etc,etc  wheelies arent a good idea to do for long "over a few secs" becuz the oil pickup is in the very front of the motors and wheelies causing the oil to not be picked up and no oil humm not good idea.. just so u know

@Ninjakid920 Look into getting new jet's they are cheap and easy to change out if you have a bit of know how, they will lower your mpg a little (50-55mpg instead of the 65) but you will see about another 4-6 hp out of it, and up the size of the rear wheel a bit, you will get a huge increase on your top end.

@DetectivePayne if it's your first bike you can't beat the 250 ninja they are amazing, even for the seasoned rider they are a blast, but stay FAR FAR AWAY from a 600, they are nice and fast but way too much power for a new rider, I would say a 650 would be fine though due to the fact they aren't in-line 4's

@lbpshananigins change the swing arm. you can install a ninja 500 swing arm on the 250. you have to replace the rim also but then you can add a 180/55/zr17.

@Genoxide85 i actually bought it from a guy who had it put on there and it had no marks from the flex whatsoever but after i put about 300 miles on it, i started noticing marks from the flex so i lined it up perfectly and tightened it and i haven't had problems since.
