I just got some bug like this. I can't purchase anything from anyone. It just says "oh here's what I have" and the item menu never comes up. This happened to me after I spent a while messing with this guy that was fighting me to join the companions, I would use destruct flames against him and then run away over and over again and it up'ed my destruction points but once I got bored and stopped I left him there, now everything is fudged
@CowHoofOnAHotPlate Let me guess you have the console version? If your pc is capable, just get the pc version. I have a pirated copy that's not even patched and I've barely found any bugs. The pc version is a lot less buggy. And even if you do find some bugs you can debug it easily by reading an online guide. You can also use mods and the pc version has better graphics. I know I sound like a pc elitest but I'm just saying what's true, the pc version is superior in every way.

It's so getting on my nerves and am here on the old tinter net looking for a solution !!! and i did have a moment in the city where the thieves guild is of mindless destruction but then cleaned up my act and reloaded a previous save so all characters should be in place ... and all key characters can not be killed ahead of time anyway...

@chriztopia678 Hmm that's strange, I don't know what could have coursed it, maybe it was aglitch that happened when the game did not recognised one of your actions and then a safety precision was activated, it's just a theory.
i dled the patch, and loaded my hd so it was full, and it started to bug out again, then i went and deleted 10 saves so I have a fairly decent cushion for space, killed ALL auto saving, and NO PROBLEMS SINCE. I have probably put 30 hours into the game since then. I am up to 550 inventory weight and still running around marauding with a big party.

@budbudbadaf To fix the bug you have to first complete the staff quest, and defeat the guy, then he would be able to respond to you, hope this helps :)
@Claymore2408 lol lvl 11? wow i could not do it at lvl 22 lol, i did it at level 38+ and it would help with a helper, best if you go to whiterun and do some quests there to level up and join the companions so they could level up your skills without costing you money, cuz you can just take your money back, this is only possible after you finish the companions quests, good luck :)
@FlameRevenge Thanks, I think I fucked myself in the foot I put all my LIFETIME loots in the riverwood inn chest and I went back there and it's all gone LOL. I've been doing it since level 8 and i'm level 21 I had all my dragonscales etc... anyways I had this companion from Whiterun from the king she disappeared..did she die or something? And how do I get her back?
@Claymore2408 lol sounds like it, well les see, its best not to put your items in peoples houses thats not yours, cuz i believe the game would get remove it after a while if its not meant to be there, and also this happened to me, i lost the guy from riverwood that does archery, and i lost him,and i didnt know if he died or ran away, but if you go to whiterun and do the companions quests and complete it, so that way you can train up a skill and then take back your money :) good luck

to clarify i had ABSOLUTELY ZERO npc trading or dialogue capabilities, and i could not "activate" any torches or pillars or levers, none.
i was lvl 40, 530lb inventory, lydia is full as well. i am playing on a brand new not refurbished ps3 180gb, with a new unscratched copy of skyrim. system does not get hot, well ventilated, not dusty, nothing fishy going on. i should also mention this fucker freezes up on the regular. i guess i just have to keep tons of saves. way to go technology.
@giantspacesquid guess it comes with the game, they more the game has the more things would be wrong with it, they are being fixed, just let them know, and also they just brought out a new patch

my hd was maxed out, and i kept saving over previous games, with more inventory and more info. i am going to delete another 5 saves, already about 5 under the limit. then i am going to go into anslivund and see if i still want to set my ps3 on fire and cannon it through bethesdas front door. update coming soon.
this happened to me while questing in ansilvund cave with esborn and delphine and lydia. the game is on expert and we just run around slaughtering, well at some point everything got fucked up when we were killing bethesdas version of goblins. dephine got stuck, and i saved and rebooted, and thats when the problem started. i had to delete everything with the entire cave, my previous saves are solid. after seeing how buggy this game is bethesda can eat a fucking dick.
@giantspacesquid well you got to understand having a big game like that thats gives you allot of possible combinations to play the game, there will always be some sort of problems, look at this way, the more things the add, the more problems they get, but they are trying to fix all the problems people have, but ya it is frustrating when things like that happen, but its better happen to one than to thousands :)
I have a very similar problem, same NPC won't let me return a book he asked me to find as I already had it when I started the quest. I also can't become a Thane of Whiterun :( Hopefully a patch will come out soon to fix these type of bugs.

@Metalkid093 well my bugs have been cleared, i found out that with some bugs, you have to complete some quests first before the fix them selves, and others are fixed with the patch's
they should fix it up.

By completing quest The Eye of Magnus you'll be able to return his book to him.

I think it's fraudulent that bethesda released a broken and unfinished product.
if a supermarket sold rotten food, and made a lot of customers ill, it would be sued and prosecuted to oblivion. The store would be closed down.

Having problems now.
I at level 51 but can't get shops,people to open lists to buy/sell stuff.
Plus can't get new quests so game is useless.
Think this is ridiculous as so many people having same or other problems with skyrim.
Should be able to return an get money back,pissed off!!
