@Mariluvsyouu : Tango is danced in a staccato movement, with very serious facial expressions. Slow - Slow - Quick - Quick - Slow (repeat) is the rhythm. They danced this properly, but you will never see this on a regular dance floor as it is gold level choreography dance.

@marianalancelot : Folks, there is American Tango, International Tango, and Argentine Tango, and many more variations thereof. Please read the Wikipedia Tango page. Just because it was not the Tango your instructor taught you does not mean it is not tango. However, it may not be an Argentine Tango if still a tango. Even in American Ballroom there are 3 different schools: Arthur Murray, Davida, and one more that I forget.

Erin and Evan who were both in the top 3 with her have experience in dance and choreography as well so people should stop singling out Nicole. She went to school for music - and only did any "dance" when she joined PCD back in 2003-2004, which she had to learn quickly because the rest of the girls in the group were already great dancers who had been part of The Pussycat Dolls for years. PCD moves are far from ballroom dancing anyways. They've had others on the show with just as much experience.

She joined the recording artist group to be the lead singer, and she has been singing all her life. Her background is performing arts and acting and musical theater. She has the most dance experience but in no way has she been training all her life. It's obvious with her hands, back, legs movements, so awkward.

@moomanchu817 I agree. One of the best, the steps are so intricate. Another one I thought was as good was Vincent Simone's and Rachel Stevens. Their steps were extremely difficult as well, one false move and they would have either fallen or look ridiculous.

Great performance, but you know half these "injuries" on the show are faked for dramatic effect. Every time it's the same. They can barely move in rehearsal and suddenly churn out a perfect performance getting the audience even more excited. lol I love "reality" shows.

@HunterstonB Argentine Tango is not an "improvised dance". There are no improvised dances. Any ballroom or latin style can be improvised. If you dance salsa or jive at a club you improvise. That doesn't mean they are improvised dances. Even the best dancers use choreography when they compete or demonstrate. I don't know how you are so sure that "they would both be hopeless". If you know so much about AT, you should be aware that such an attitude is totally against the spirit of AT.

Look up 'West Coast Swing' Jack and JIll. The most demanding form of dance is improvised dance to unknown music with and an unknown partner.

Choreography is for poor dancers who are musically deaf.

It's rather like saying you are a great poet because you can read someone elses poem out loud.

The same people would do a choreographed dance for a demo or a competition to impress spectators/judges. They simply 2 different applications of dances. Just because a dance is choreographed you can't assume that the dancers are poor and musically deaf. That's all I have to say. Anyway, you are totally entitled to your opinion.

We are talking about 'The elephant in the room' here.

90% of people, and that includes most people who think they are dancing can't 'hear' or 'identify' musical structure.

The 10% generally avoid mentioning it as most people simply don't understand what they are trying to achieve in dance. Given 90% of the dance judges and competitors are also musically deaf its very much an 'inner circle' thing that has nothing to do with competition or popular acclaim.

I never understood why people made such a big deal about Nicole having previous dance experience. The show is called DWTS....she's a star, so what if she knew how to dance. The type of dancing she is used to in NO WAY translates into ballroom. Totally different world than she was used to! She produced memorable performances!
