  • Beautifully done

  • Nothing is lost in destruction, while nothing is wasted in creation... - A person that I'll never be able to speak to

  • An hypnotic and beautiful video for a great music. I love it!

  • I dedicate this to The Most Resplendent Star in the Cosmos -- My Eternally Beloved Wife, Barbra. I love you beyond Space/Time. I long to be with you again (and for Eternity) My Darling of Heaven and Earth -- My Eternal Soulmate, Barbra. I pray it is you, and no mere angel, who returns for me when my life is over. Take my hand and lead me to our home in Heaven, My Darling Love -- My Forever Love -- Barbra. This music (and Clare de Lune) will be playing for us when we get to Heaven. I miss you!

  • I love the visuals that you put with this. Quite humbling.

  • i just felt so sad after listening to this

  • That's the saddest song I've ever heard...and still very poignant...it touches your soul deeply....

  • iIf you dont get moved by the music and visuals in this piece, then your made of stone.

  • someone know the lyric??

  • @murdemo Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem.

  • 911 "tribute"?

  • who clicked dislike?? seriously!

  • beautiful. Always calms me down.

  • listen and feel the energy of the universe

  • is there a version that passes without ANY copyright?

  • This is the best version I could find. There was another video with this same choir, but youtube took it off due to copyright. I hope this one is safe because I listen to this song all of the time. One of the greatest in my opinion.

  • It's.. beautiful.

  • wow. just wow. without a doubt one of the best musical works of all time. brings tears to my eyes every time i listen to it.

  • Anyone know where I can download this exact version? Most amazing rendition of this song I've ever heard.

  • @gnarlycharlie666 There's a great website called Listen to Youtube dot com. I used it to get this song. Copy the link to this video, then go to that website and paste in the on it's home page. It will give you a MP3 download of this video's audio =] When I heard this version of Adagio for Strings I had to have it too!

  • @ColibriAnna08 Yeah, last time I used that website it wouldn't let me finish the download until I agreed to "win a free Walmart giftcard".....haha. I'll keep searching though, thanks for the advice anyways!

  • @gnarlycharlie666 Really? Hm, that never happened to me. Are you sure it wasn't a copy cat site?

  • @ColibriAnna08 It might have been...I'll try it again.

  • @gnarlycharlie666 Use youtube to mp3 converter ;)

  • You may sit still but your mind will travel.

  • This song is like the echo of exploding stars vibrating through out the entire universe.

  • @philonous09 Not just an echo, but a beautiful reflection of that universe. It's as though all of creation culminates in this one piece of music.

  • @anthonyP43 I know!!! I like rap and that stuff, but this has to be my favorite peice of all time!!!!

  • Epic!

  • amazing music and video! *-*

  • i want this at my funeral

  • This is where Tenga Toppa Gurren Lagaan got its inspiration from. Higaara.

  • everytime i listen to this it makes me have goosebumps, not to mention the tears rolling down my cheeks. I don't think there's any other classical piece that can make me do that.

  • Comment removed

  • Anybody who owns a pulse cannot help to be moved by this masterpiece of musical genius.Yup its that good, lol.

  • this is peace of music is meant to have the most emotional impact to the human ear...

  • wow

  • What a trip... to the infinit...

  • i swear, if people who listen to heavy metal, and all that crazy stuff,

and the nlisten to this they would think again..

  • @babiccool Fuck you man! Why all the ignorant person thinks that "heavy metal" is shit? If you listen to deathcore or technical grindcore, you should recognise the structure of a sonata or a rachmaninoff song, and in neo classical metal you can listen the same style of music in a different way. For me Classica and metal are the best genres in the world, becaouse they have a sort of.. progression, I can't explain it in english (I'm italian).

However, if people like you begin to listen to Born

  • @babiccool Of Osiris or Veil of Maya, I think metal will be revalutated.

  • @babiccool I enjoy metal, but I keep this beautiful masterpiece in a special place of it's own in my heart and soul.

  • @ryanjurek ditto. also i feel exactly dah same as lucapuma

  • @ryanjurek metal is trash music. just screaming mindless shit

  • @TheCornguy Not sure if trolling or just stupid. What about an instrumental metal song? There aren't screams, and anyway also this is metal: watch?v=zLmspcgrYrY

So, before talking, try to know something more about the thing you are going to argue ^^

  • @babiccool actually, I listen to the ''most heavy' metal bands, and you are wrong there. Actually, I might call you incompotent. Did you know that a lot of bands, to explain a metal genre, cover a lot of classic song? Or bands like Dimmu Borgir who sounds beautifull with their orchestra on the background. That we listen to metal does not mean we -only- listen to metal. I prefer metal and classis above all other music genres, because I love artists on instruments.

  • @Inaste666 Lol i am only joking around.. i was having an eargasm ;L

    I do agree though... :)

  • it doesnt get any better than this.

  • whats the name of the song from platoon?.. is it a version of this song?..

  • A co tu pisać, tu tylko słuchać i patrzeć na również piękny film.

  • Barber's Adagio For Strings is the one that does it for me. I can't listen to it without crying, it makes me feel so sad, and yet.. hearing it gives me an inner peace that nothing else comes near. The video is also sensational.. and goes well with the music.. We are but a small drop in a very big ocean..

  • mindblowing, totally mindblowing, stick that on your x factor, britains got talent here today, gone tomoro shite,Mr S Barber you were a genius for giving the world this piece of class, thank you

  • Lol I heard this while watching the South Park where they do the special olympics and when i heard it i shazamed it and found it. GREAT song.

  • Stunning, Simply beautiful :)

  • Just... Amazing.

  • stunning

  • the voices r so crystal clear. The words are nothing I can understand, yet it still speaks to my soul. It's haunting, purely haunting...

  • Perfect visuals for this music! Thank you.

It would be great if the volume was a little louder.

  • Humanity is all but one part of a huge system of species.

I have one question to ask...

If God made everything....Then Who made God?

  • @Turian100 God always was. He was never made. Silly idea? Those supporting the big bang say everything MUST have come from nothing. Based on very hypothetical ideas and at this point zero evidence. So which idea is more silly?

  • @Turian100 The creator...creates. Aristotle spoke of the unmoved mover by which all things came from and as trying to get back to...

  • @Turian100 a creature is not at the same level of understanding as the creator

if you create a ball can the ball have babies? It is beyond the creature's understanding abilities it is a different world :) God can only be admired and you can feel God's greatness through what's around us (humans) space planets ourselves from the smallest to the greatest things

  • @Moroccan01 The request was to prove a God. To say this entity created all things one must dis-prove, the centuries of established, provable scientific data that has been accumulated. The question of who created this God is quite valid. Also, a ball, of which you did not specify it construction or material, is not a biological organism. the only thing that a baby and a ball of any material share are common atoms that originated with the big bang.

  • This is hectic

  • Very powerful and simple amazing.

  • Simply breathtaking.

  • Rob21282 - The end is near??? Jesus, you're a very up person aren't you?

Nice "cosmic" video... Not the end of the Universe though :)

  • The end is near

  • @rob21283 The beginning is near. Get on the bus

  • staggering. Amazing song, simply amazing.

  • this is the creation of God, we are part of his creation.

  • @ivan98747 stfu ignorant retard

  • I love this song, visually stunning images. Great job!

  • Sinceramente sublime!!! Extremadamente emocionante... Las imagnes complementan en forma genial a esas imagenes.. te abstraen del lugar en el que estás. Felicitaciones!

  • Esta musica me pega más para algo triste que para el nacimiento del universo.

  • So beautiful

  • *applaudes* one word - beautiful

  • Simplemente extraordinario!!; de proporciones Beethovenianas; hermosisimo!!

  • God is a myth.

    The univerise is awesome.

And this music is absolutely beautiful.

All divinity is created by man, and this piece is divine... Thank-you for sharing it.

  • The first time I heard this music was at the beginning of Homeworld as well. Such an amazing scene, truly beautiful.

  • We are nothing....

  • We are humans, but as it small as a mote. I love the movies zooming out from a 'human scene' finally passing galaxies.

  • Was this music used in the film Platoon?.I love it!

  • yes

  • yes it is :) such a powerful song :P

  • So much better performed by a choir than with instruments! At least that's my oppinion :-)

  • ah, the one performed by choir is called "agnus dei"

  • Yes it was.

  • Platoon and The Elephant Man

  • Wow, amazing images which go so well with this music. I feel all spaced out!

  • God is Awesome !

    Good video !

  • Love the original as I do the radio edit to the William Orbit mix (which makes it alot happier, even though the original already had moments of happiness).

  • love this song!

  • hey isn't this in homeworld?

  • yep

  • Different choir though, but same song :)

  • i first heard this piece in the demo video for Homeworld... made me cry, and it still does... have kept the video just for that reason... one of the most beautifull classical pieces ever written...

  • @gurfus do you have a link to the demo video of Homeworld you are referring too?

  • this is so moving, With the space images its entrancing.

  • this is one of the hardest songs to play (i play violin and my high school orchestra attempted it last year), but it truly is one of the most beautiful pieces i have ever heard

  • this is..... weakening.

  • that was in the film platoon well good song

  • I'm 13 years old and a lot of people here probably think that I dont know how to appreciate music...but isn't this just the most beautiful, mournful and powerful song ever? People think I'm wierd because I like this sort of music but words just cannot describe this. It's so pure, It makes me want to cry. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME WHERE TO GET A CD OF THE DIFFERENT INTERPRETATIONS OF THIS SONG?

  • You are lucky to be able to appreciate this at 13 years old. This is a good sign. Good luck. Listen to Rachmaninov, Mahler, Malcolm Arnold etc.

  • PPL are stupid, specially when they are in crowd.

    Check this watch?v=y0EAL3vXZrM

  • Your not weird and don't let them convince you otherwise.

  • I had to play this song for my high school band. God, it was painful to listen to.

  • I have Samuel Barber's CD also.

  • what lyrics are they using?

  • angus dei, qui tollis peccata mundi (repeated). it means lamb of god, who takes away the sins of the world.

  • oops, forgot to add - miserere nobis (have mercy on us) and dona nobis pacem (grant us peace).

  • Adagio for Strings by Barber is one of my favorites. I have a CD where each cut is a different interpretation by a different artist and on different instruments. I can't imagine that many other melodies that I could stand to listen to over and over in a row and get something new from.

  • i argee... one of the best songs ever written

  • DJ Tiesto's version is friggen awesome!!!

  • where did you get that cd?

  • try dire strait's Sultans of Swing. its not classical, but if u listen to 20 different live versions of the song ull find not one is the same thx to Mark Knopfler's incredible improvisation abilities

  • solamente escucha, es increible

  • i love tiesto's version,

  • I hate DJ Tiesto's version of it.

  • I'll admit that the only reason I had heard Adagio for Strings in the first place was the game Homeworld. By lord, epic, mournful, and complex - fitting for such a space opera.

That piece of turd dance version misses the point, doesn't deserve the name, is an offense to all things holy, and is a glaring example of how far dance 'artists' will go to steal music and butcher it.

  • this isnt the original, if you would care to read the description it was sang by a choir in trinity college im cambridge so get your facts right you faggot azz bitchessss

  • i just heard this song on seinfeld n it reminded me of tiesto's version but the original classical work is sooo beautiful and never did i think of it as a sad song until now

  • the vid is OK, but the singing and arrangement are stunning. I've never heard it this way before.

  • the remixes are actually quit good but the original is way better...

  • Yeah, the remixes aren't that bad, but they don't capture the aesthetic mood and stuff that the original Adagio For Strings does. Then you add the Agnus Dei hymn to it and it just sounds indescribably perfect.

  • This track is pure perfektion, please no more covers of it (orbit/tiesto)...Why bother, nothing can top the original anyway

  • that is right this is way better than the remixes.

  • I think that this piece is so beautiful and dynamically sentimental. When dj "tiesto" re-arranged it he threw it's beauty out of the window. Classical pieces like this become classics and should be treated as such. I think your video has the visualization needed to concentrate on Barber's complexity and genius. It was better the way Barber intended.

  • you should listen to the william orbit remix. he keeps the beauty of this song and mix it with a little bit of electronica. tiesto's version of adagio for strings is a club song so that's why it lost most ot the beauty of the song.

  • LtKbron, the Orbit version is just as terrible. It would definitely be possible to do this piece justice in an electronic arrangement, but both Orbit and Tiesto made terrible dance tracks. Anyone trying to make this piece "uptempo" has clearly missed the entire point.

  • any deviation from the original idea of this piece destroys the beauty of the piece. this video, as well as any direct transcription is acceptable. anyone that has ever or will ever add "electronica" or make it into a "club song" or add anything to the simplicity of this piece should never go near or write another piece of music again; they obviously missed the point of this piece or have no understanding of music at all.

  • woah woah. Calm down there buddy. This is a very sad piece of music. It is intended to be used in sad situations. So if we wanted a sad piece of music we'd use the original. However, deviations of that are not missing the point by making it a techno song, they are simply using the music for what they want. obviously they don't want a sad piece of music. if they did, they'd just use the original. No one's trying to replace Samuel Barber with techno grooves...

  • btw gay video

  • It's just my opinion. I like Tiestos version too, but the Ferry Corsten remix is a true trance classic.

  • haha - yeah, right - don't even try comparing this piece of artwork to some shitty trance tune made by a playboy ;-)

  • lol

    trance advance this piece.

  • The man who did a GREAT job adapting this to the trance scene was Ferry Corsten.

  • tiesto

  • Such a beautiful piece...

  • shut up you stinkin stupit spammer! specially to this beautiful song.

  • Played in times of grief.

God gave man the power to communicate through music... Sadly, he also gave man the power to take life.

In times of grief, this adagio brings comfort to those who have lost life. 9.11.2001 R.I.P

  • dude, wtf? Completey random. Why bring up 9-11? Just enjoy the music.

God is not real and man developed the ability to produce music. Samuel Barber was a genius in making hauntingly beautiful works to capture the human emotion. Although in an interview somewhere he said that this music reminds him of a couple making love.

Funny how different interpretations lead us somewhere completely unique.

  • You can't prove God is not real, nor can we prove he is. Shut the fuck up.

  • liar

  • This is the most beautiful composition for choir... I cry everything I hear this

  • The hairs on the back of my neck tingle whenever i hear this absolubtely ,perfection

  • Seriously . ... this must be as near perfekt you can get.....

  • This is one for the soul...

  • Oh man. This is so pretty.

  • This actually makes me miss Star Trek.

ps: I already know that sound extreamly nerdy.

  • fantastic combination....puts us in our place within the universe

  • scientific yet also spiritual, i loved it

  • using space... What a brilliant idea! I loved it

  • forever beautiful...

  • You made my day...

  • One of the most perfect, Beautiful pieces of music ever written.

  • Perfect..

  • ...penso a mio padre.

  • Finally something that makes coming to YouTube worthwhile...

  • superlative,sublime,stupendous,supernal,salubrious.......................

  • wow just caught movie clips second time around, stellar in more ways than one

  • i love this song and...if the universe is everywheres then no matter how long or how far we go in one direction we will never come back to the same spot. We are ifinitely small in the universe and we will never be able to ever explore all of the universe or will we ever now if it has a shape.

  • This music moves me to tears

  • Me too.

  • Masterful.

  • One of Samuel Barber's best. I remember this mostly from the film/movie - Platoon. Sadly beautiful and an encrypted message concerning our misguided actions and those of authority. Our universe(s) demands our actions whether they are good or evil or if our inactions lead to good or evil. The universe moves on and keeps creating according to its laws whether there is order or disorder within any society.

  • When I listen this Adagio I'm near God through my heart.

  • beautiful....amazing...překrásné.... thanks :-*
