We already put enough money in defense, and for roads at least around where I live all they seem to do during the non-winter months is do construction and expansion of roads...so obviously they're already putting a lot of money in to that. The debt you speak of came mainly from Bush. You right wingers are incapable of having a panoramic view on the issues. The spending was by Obama was stimulus plan; and if he didn't do it, you would be complaining about something else.
Most of the concern you have about "our nation and our future" come from inaccurate radio and Fox news talking points. Part of being a concerned citizen is making sure you're accurately informed, which you are not.

The debt I speak of was the result of Obama QUADRUPLING Bush's debt.
If the neither Bush's or Obama's stimulus had passed we might have recovered from this recession/depression right now.
The number I got for our debt, didn't come from Fox, or talk radio, it came from the U.S. Treasury. How can anyone see at that debt and think we are ok? How can anyone think that Obama is helping the economy. This is Obama's economy now, he could have made the right choices but he didn't.

Bush after 4 years accumulated a 2.4 trillion dollar debt. Obama in his first year has accumulated 1.7 trillion. That's not "quadrupled".
There isn't a man on earth that could have gotten elected in 09 and after the first year reduced our debt and saved the economy.

I watched a few video clips of Michelle Bachman and I have seen her interviewed once or twice but I don't recall if I ever heard her mention the deficit.
But, nevertheless, if Bachmann quoted that number she is right and she also got it from the U.S. Treasury.
I found it at USDebtClock dot org. And they site the US Treasury as their source. BTW we also have 107 TRILLION in unfunded mandates.
This path was unsustainable when Bush was in office. Now it might even be unrecoverable.

Keeping taxes at a constant, and letting the economy grow on it's own, and making the the gov. work on that rate will grow revenue larger and larger. The gov. taking more money out of the private sector causes the economy to slow, generating less revenue.
