I think everyone is confused by the statement "change my batteries" I'm pretty sure what he meant was "re-connect his controller".

Your batteries aren't fully dead the first time you lose connection. The remote just simply loses connection to the xbox console due too lack of sufficient power. All you have to do is turn the controller on again and you will be able to play for a while longer.

Also if you bang your controller too hard the battery pack will lose connection.
