oh myyyy gawwwwd! 19 mins of video time to tell us that you're going to incorporate animal products into your diet????!!! ok, i'm blaming it on your b12 deficiency
HEY NATASHA, YOU DID AN ENTIRE VIDEO ON WHY YOU CAN'T ABSORB B12 THROUGH YOUR DIET AND NOW YOU'RE TRYING TO EAT MORE B12. ARE YOU MENTALLY RETARDED OR WERE YOU JUST CRAVING A STEAK?
Natasha, Lots of positives can come out of this. The fatty acids from the fish you're eating will be of great benefit to your overall health. You do what you have to do.
Thanks for sharing your vitamin B-12 story. More people should share there vitamin B-12 stories with all the details to understand good health through a healthy diet. With what I have noticed with my research not everyone absorbs the vitamin B-12 the same. We have stay on top of our B-12 levels to make sure we are getting it. Thank you again. :)
I agree 100%, health first. Don't drink the kool-aid, and do what everyone else says to do. Follow what your body is telling you, since we are all different have have different needs.
I just found your channel, and after watching ~15 videos, this one is the best. I see how hard it was for you to start eating animals products. You are amazing! Keep doing what you're doing, and good luck.
Hi Natasha :-) I really appreciate your honesty. I completely understand what you are going through because I've been through similar symptoms as well. Everyone is an individual and the same diet is not for everyone! Have you tried "The Eat Clean Diet"? I've decided that this is best for me as an individual. I don not eat processed foods and eat about 80% to 90% vegetables with limited seafood & chicken. This is best for me. Do what's best for you & your health. Thank you for your honesty.
@EmberflyLayouts I'm vegan for 3 years, vegetarian for many more... and I've never had B12 problems but I've had anemia. But, I had worse anemia BEFORE going vegan. You can get vegan B12 from soy milk, nutritional yeast, miso, natto, kimchi, kombucha, and multivitamins. However, I don't know good sources that are both vegan and raw.
Hey guys leave her in peace with her choices and findings! This is her body not yours, let her free to think freely and act freely as per what is true for her. This is so valuable to have honest view points of somebody like her who try to hard to improve her health. I wish her efforts were more common. I'm not eating animal products myself and I supplement b12 but I respect her choices. How would you feel if somebody judged you from doing what you feel is right and vital for you?
Thank you soo much for taking the courage to research the truth and applying it to your life if you see this is right for you and thank you soooooo much for sharing your views and for continuing to help around. You are soo valuable it's incredible. Thanks again :)
Well jeez, I sounded so dramatic in previous comment...I was in a mood. I too went back to fish/dairy/eggs, but only occasionally, for a spell years ago, but came back to vegan, and so glad I did. And I do consider that lapse a sad period; I gained a lot of weight (have since lost it) and had other related problems. But it was a learning experience too. ...Not that you asked, but there it is :-)
Sad that you did this. I'm vegan 25 years and have taken B12 supplement and have no health problems, am very healthy. See my video on B12, it may or may not change your mind: watch?v=2NDl3tLN3ng
I love how you use logic, suggestions from others, and experimentation to solve your own problems. You are a wise woman! I love your blog, you have truly blessed my life. Thank you for being so honest! Best wishes!
Good on you for being authentic. I truly admire your strength of character in deciding to be true to yourself rather than reacting to peer pressure. You are an inspirational woman with a lovely soul.
Best wishes to you! An occasional fish, an egg… you may not need to eat any other animal products. Most of my food is raw. I do have a cooked meal each day, but it is not a Thanksgiving feast, just a small cooked meal.
Good for you for making a decision that was best for YOU. I'm sure this was a very difficult decision. Everybody has an opinion on what the best diet is, but they don't live in your body. You know yourself best. Good luck with your new diet.
Getting nutrients from food is always best. However no one is getting enough b12. I am so thankful for the vegan diet because it pointed me to become aware of the fact that none of us are getting enough b12. Even if I went back to being omnivore, I would supplement b12 for the rest of my life.
I think you are a siren, a sexy meat temptress. Ahh steer the boat away from that tropical island Odyseus! Wo to your men who are being lured to their doom.
What I find odd is that meat has so little b12 that you should not have felt any improvement given that b12 injections did not work for you. If you were going to incorporate meat for b12 you would eat clams alone because they have the highest levels of b12. Even then you would need to eat 70 clams per day 365 days per year to get the Japanese and European RDA of b12.
Also, I have never heard that b12 injections contain IGF-1. What is up with that?
Meat is not the answer. Deep rooted toxicity is causing this B12 issue. Meat eating will take you downhill. Its ridiculous to think that eating meat that rotts in your system and leaves tons of metabolic waste and acid is going to improve your B12 issue. Please wake up!! I repeat, deep rooted toxicity from your past history. I've been through serious health issues myself so I know this, If you can please message me.
Durianriders / Harley says that all the meat in the world isn't going to cure or even help your B12 issue. Why not try the amazing liver flush by Andreas Mortiz? Get all those gallstones out of your liver and gallbladder. Take chanca piedra to get rid of all the kidney stones as well. Go to Dan McDonald's channel and watch the video on detox kit from Robert Morse. God's herbs in google. Start digging deeper into your body to detox and everything should balance out. And, btw Jesus is Lord.
I have so much more respect for you after watching this video. There is no honor in being extremist or self destructive just because SOMEONE ELSE is telling you what is right. The best health arrives when you can listen and take direction from your own body!! Thanks!
I just started watching your videos tonight, and I just want to say you are AMAZING!!!, You are an inspiration to vegos vegans and meat eaters alike. the energy you are putting into the world will support you with this dificiency and you will be well. Thankyou for such honesty and love for life, and i hope you continue to be YOU!! Namaste.
One of the jobs of the HcI in the stomach is to kill parasites. If the HcI in the stomach is too low, it cannot kill parasites. There are some common parasites that cause the body to be depleted of B12. Please have a Medical Doctor check the hydrochloric acid in your stomach. Some ways to increase the HcI in your stomach are chlorophyll, acv, digestive enzymes and HcI pills.
Most people with B12 deficiencies and/or pernicious anemia are NOT vegans. Very few vegans have pernicious anemia. B12 deficiencies occur primarily when: 1.) Something is competing for your B12 (like parasites); 2.) Something is destroying your B12 (like cyanide in cigarettes); or 3.) Something is preventing the proper absorption of B12 (like inadequate production of intrinsic factor).
I commend you on introducing some animal foods into your diet. Its a fallacy that one must cut out all animal foods to be healthy. A plant-based diet supplemented with animal foods is the way to go. Look at the diets of the people of Thailand for a start. Look at the Okinawan diet. All are heavily plant-based but include animal foods like fish and pork. Take care Natasha.
:) the idea about being just like a diabetic is just a concept, a notion of the mind. drop that and all ur left with is putting your hand to a tablet and then to your mouth. as much time as taking a drink of water, and much less than eating :)
brian clement recommends everyone takes bacterial form b12 supplement.
if u stil wish to have vegan values as you mention in video one, but still have good health, the possibility of fasting might help too which helps absoprtion of b12 apparently. love!
@0wenfox along with all the other suggestions like seaweeds, bee pollen, kumbucha etc. best of luck on your journey. im only trying to help you. no judgment or anger invllved or anything like that RawRadiantHealth. i can only imaginehow diffiult all this was, as well as an OPPORTUNITY of continuing proportions :) lots of respect to you. Owenfox :)
I didn't understand one thing...Where you taking a B12 supplement all these years but couldn't absorb it or you just didn't bother about that and found out about the deficiency when it was too late to be helped with the pills of B12?
I am vegan for 6 months now and NEVER intent to deprive the life of ANY living being, I have been taking a B12 supplement(1 pill of 1000ug/day) and soon will run some tests...But I've heard of many many vegans that have no problem at all just with the pill...
Am sorry to hear about your B12 defeciancy, but I can see how well you are doing with it! Impressed how you accepted the change and are handling it wonderfully! Wonder when you are back up on normel level, will you continue raw 100 percent with supplementing B12? I mean do you plan that or look forward to that? LOVE
From the sources that I came about, such as School of Natural Healing, and Dr Christopher, we can get vitamin B12 from plant sources, such as alfalfa, kelp and dulse. Maybe you would be okay with a kelp supplement? It is still a whole food that you are feeding your body. If we look through a natural approach, where do the plant eating animals get their B12? Wouldn't it be plants?

i really didn't fully undertand what you were talking about...but now that i'm going through this myself i could cry when i see this.i'm so happy you are doing better
@RawRadiantHealth i know exactly what you're talking about when you're saying that you feel like you are getting your life back!!!! i'm going through the exact same thing right now.....i have never lost the control over myself like this ever before...and honestly if people haven't been through this they can't really undertstand what's going on.it's horrible...a few weeks when i watched this video
I also became anemic after 20 years of being a vegan. I started eating a little fish and also cured myself . I did this for four years then ,I felt I was eating to much fish so I went back to vegan .Now, if I feel like fish when my body needs it I eat it .
I do what my body tells me and try not to be so hard on myself .Good luck I think you are doing the right thing.
hi yeah raw food's vulnerable to not getting varietal support to spread miss @ spike problems but it's never this or that but healthy spectrum to be picked up, &thus then shallow such can be criticized. bio diversity inclusion's allowable as by gen 9 but not to extreme dependency nor overshadowin our responsibility via our resiliency w/ the land's. & when we tap into growth conditions versus market unless clearance even reminding lol fermenting's approx stage we may not just excrete assimilable~
If you feel you need more B12 then kombucha tea is a great source with many other benefits as well that will help your health issues.
Dogma means opinion. Terrifying an animal, putting it through unbearable pain and taking its life is not dogma.
B12 deficiences are often an absorption issue and flesh and dairy eaters have just as much of an issue with B12 as vegans. It is only that vegans tend to get tested more than meat eaters so it shows up.
Do you have statistics or literature to support your opinion please?
I'd be really curious if you could back this up as I feel the opposite is true. In my experience most of the vegans, vegetarians and raw food vegans I know, avoid getting blood work done, in comparison to those I know who eat animal protein as a regular part of their diet.
@BeYourPotential Ummm… nope, but I didn't state anything as though it were a fact. In my comment I talked from my own experience, made evident from the use of 'I feel...', 'In my experience...' and 'in comparison to those I know...'
I agree...people who eat meat also can have B12 deficiencies....since often it's an absorption issue....so eating meat is not always the solution...but it appears to be working for Natasha...
I do agree with other comments that there are non-meat sources of B12 that she could have tried, but perhaps in the country where's she's living, meat was easier and cheaper...
I am so glad you are happy. your decisions are for your own good. no one else can make choices for you. 80% raw is a wonderful sensible diet. Small amounts of Clean animal products, free of hormones and antibiotics is also alright. Your heart knows the truth. To help you digest animal products you may want to include fermented foods, the enzymes and probiotics are very helpful and offer a better nutrient uptake. Have a great healthy loving life. Sending your soul love and encouragement. Stay you
Thank you so much for sharing! You are amazing. I respect you so much for coming out with this and letting certain people know it's not about the Dogma - it's about our HEALTH. So glad you're doing better.
Thank you for your update. It's very important that your share it with us.
Could you tell how much of animal products in your diet now. You said: meet+fish+eggs+shrimps. It sounds like you eat small salads now and big stakes every day. So in a nutshell, how much of plant and how much of animal products. Is it 1/3, half&half, 2/3.
Coconuts - Wow. Just came back from DR, paid 2.50US/coconut on average. I was working on them like a crab, drink first then scoop its coco-meat out.
... Religion or belief should not dictate your diet, because that would overlook your health, which comes not first, in between, because it is necessary to have a healthy diet and life in order to have a good spiritual life.
Eating raw is certainly a good thing, but eating cooked fish or meat is not a BAD thing. So many health issues can be fixed by what you eat, and so, you should eat what makes you healthy. (Some people do need more of certain foods than others.)
But really, when it comes to health and religion, religion should promote health and health should promote a good diet. Certain practices in religion can restrict diet as a disciplinary action, but not as a belief. Religion o
Go to vegahealth -dot- org. It is a free nutrition site written by a registered dietitian. It has one of the best articles (easy, short) about how to avoid b-12 deficiencies without eating animal products.
You were a vegan eating cooked food for so many years and healthy re B12. Do you recon going raw is what caused the B12 to fall below acceptable levels as opposed to being a vegan?
@hfocus001 I don't believe the raw food is the problem and I do think that not being tested during 23 years of vegetarianism also means that you don't know if you were alright regarding B12. We start with a store of B12 when we are born and unless we get the right nutrients and keep the enzyme active in our gut that creates B12 we begin to deplete what our body still has in store. So it can take years to show numbers like Natashas. Get tested and keep an eye on it. Raw food is good for you. :)
Also, there is research that shows high levels of vitamin c and niacin that even a vegan could not consume in a day may prevent arterial sclerosis. It may turn out that whatever your diet vitamins may be required to prevent western diseases.. if that is your goal. I have found that small amounts of creatine can be helpful to vegans for mood and mental focus. This occurs only in meat so I will be buying the powder.
I like this video because it brings up a very important question. I have been researching b12 lately. The best natural source of b12 (besides sewage and soil) is clams. Each medium clam has 7.2 mcg of b12 with is about 3 times the rda in the US. However there is research that shows b12 is more important than though and 500 mcg is the best minimum daily dosage. At that rate you would need to eat about 70 medium clams per day. Bodybuilders take daily 5000 mcg shots.
The good news for vegetarians and vegans is that you do not need to eat meats. Vitamin B12 comes from only microorganisms in nature. It only ends up in animal products because they absorb it. I've been vegetarian or vegan for 20 years with no deficiencies, just by using vitamin B12 directly from bacterial fermentation-- the way a supplement is made. Once you get up into your 50's you can actually have problems digesting vitamin B12 out of meats anyway. My mother has eaten meat every
@EarthAwakener ...day of her life almost, and had a B12 deficiency. I respect what anyone chooses, but just want to say that it's wrong for people to fear B12 if they just do this simple thing. We're not out in nature picking it up everywhere. We treat our drinking water, rely on modern agriculture, and have such good hygiene that it's difficult. Even animals in agriculture can have their diets supplemented for B12. Cows have cobalt added to their diet to help bacteria produce B12.
@EarthAwakener : Large-scale farms feed their livestock grains which is unnatural for the animal and produces a less healthy animal. Feed the animal its natural diet and it thrives! Not rocket science. All cattle should be grass fed.
@auggiedoggy Hello. Grass fed, grazing cattle are also supplemented. It depends on what the soil is like, and even the season. They need the cobalt for B12. What I'm saying is essentially what you're saying. That is, when you remove animals (like us) from a natural environment, that's why certain nutrients end up missing. For a strict vegetarian, one of those is B12. Another, if you spend all day in a cave or home out of the sun, is vitamin D.
@EarthAwakener : Well, the soil quality has been on the decline for a long time. If grass fed cattle actually do get supplements that could certainly explain why. I live in Canada and vitamin D supplementation is a must for much of the year.
Have you tried Spirulina? The jury is out on whether the B12 in Spirulina actually reduces the capacity to uptake other types of B12 in animals. Apparently the non-active form can become active with Vitamin E, though the testing for exactly how this works is not clear yet.
I guess the proof would be in the taking and measuring.
I see the facade cracking. Please let go of this judgmental "purity" and "morality" BS and take the middle path if you are a Buddhist. This is like an irrational self centered mind game you are playing with yourself and presenting to others as a righteous and superior religion.
Why do you still "believe in raw" when you see what the outcome is- deficiency and illness? This is not a practical diet and i hope you come through this with more skepticism and clarity on what you have been sold..
OMG you are so sweet!!!! mega respect for your honesty! I am in the same boat as you, health is the most important thing. I too eat fish for the same reason.
@x2metallica8x What feels right to me is eating big macs and sitting on my ass till I hit 300 lbs.. and I did. That is when I realized that I had to tame my instincts and not eat until my stomach exploded like a stray dog. : )
I wish you all the best! Have you tried raw fish, like a ceviche? I've also tried fresh raw (thin) slices of meat, it was pretty good tossed with olive oil and cilantro. And if you're still doing your green juice in the morning, drop in a raw egg (wash the shell very well first)... my grandma used to force-feed my skinny cousin a raw egg every morning whenever we stayed over at her place.
I stopped taking B12 a few weeks ago - my naturopath saw my blood test results and was astonished at how high it was! I'm guessing this is due to the B12 in nutritional yeast and the purchased nut/rice milks, which are usually B12 fortified. Flexibility is good!
i was vegetarian for 15 yrs, vegan for 11 and raw one before my iron deficiency, arrythmia i developed and many other problems forced me to re-think my diet. it broke my heart to have to do it but ive been doing really great with eating eggs and taking some fish oil but any amount of fish even just small amounts no oil makes my stomach hurt hard! im going to keep trying because i want to eventually add meat back in. im learning a lot from Michael McEvoy and Daniel Vitalis
@alekasattic23 ok, i'm getting tired of hearing Vitalis' name. He's popular because he promotes himself well, but have you seen the rebuttals to his videos?
Getting BOTH sides of the issue is how to know the truth. See "Vitalis raw vegan response".
As for your problems.
1. What kind of raw vegan were you
2. There's many factors in health, not just food.
You could've just ate more iron-rich plant-foods. Why is Dr Graham doing fine?
@Gary1111001 ive responded to similar questions over and over again. sadly one has to experience this for themselves to learn. just a word of advice to people on a vegan diet...get your blood tested, listen to your body and never stop learning!!!!! i hope nobody following a vegan diet has their health fail them like mine has. peace
So EVERYONE should get a blood test. A plant-based diet isn't inherently deficient. It is better on blood test and every other way.
I spent the 90's taking 'every' supplement; and felt crummy. Now I feel better after 3 years raw, and no supplements. The moral: There's more to health than nutrients.
I really respect her honesty & flexibility because she is telling the truth on how she feels about eating food. What matters is that she is really happy about her life style. That is the fact! And beside, No one on earth is one hundred per cent raw fondest.
Tons of raw foodists change their diets after a while and start adding raw animal products. like goat cheese and eggs. Some even eat raw meats, so don't feel too bad. We do what we have to, to survive.
LOL. durianriders neighbor eats primarily raw meat and is b-12 deficient. Your nerve senses improved because of the stimulation you got from eating animal products. Same happens with spices, coffee, and condiments.
I've yet to see the long term effects of a vegan diet good or bad, so I can't judge her too much for doing this, maybe it is right for her. I'd love to hear from people that have been doing a vegan/raw vegan diet long term with no ill effects because truly that would be ideal :)
The truth is that even if people should eat some animal products, the amount of meat, eggs, dairy etc people consume is far TOO MUCH. We can work towards not having factory farming and treating animals better regardless. Anyway, those are just my thoughts. It's clear Natasha did not come to this decision easily and sounds like she will only be eating the amount she feels she needs, not scarffing down chicken nuggets and burgers every meal.
I definitely becomes an issue of Dogma. The truth is that most people are not vegetarians or vegans and it is possible to be healthy eating animal products. However, I have heard that even people consuming animal products can be B-12 deficient. I've chosen the Vegan way, but it does not mean I am better than other people or necessarily healthier. However, I believe in the philosophy of not harming animals, human or non human, if it is not necessary.
why can one one not post URLs???? I have a scientific article exposing the myth of B12, assuming your health is ok (no/few pharmaceuticals to disturb the intestinal tract).
Check out "der-b-12-mythos-gehort-auf-den-mulleimer-der-geschichte/" (google will take you there)!
Jack Lalanne was a vegetarian and ate some fish also ,,He lived to the age of 96 years old :) Don't be so hard on yourself there ,,Your health comes first :)
Enjoy your videos and learn alot from them :) I do green smoothies and some organic meat for dinner that works well for me :) Have quit the coffee ,sugar ,caffine etc God bless you :)
Bless your heart !!! I started out as a vegetarian 24 years ago and then to a vegan diet. I felt aweful!!!! I went back to being a vegetarian and eventually added in some seafood products. I just got tested - a full spectrum test, and my Dr. said my numbers were so ideal that I should frame the lab sheet. WE HAVE TO DO WHAT WE HAVE TO DO to be healthy. I know it pains you to eat animals and their products, but the fact that it pains your conscience means that you HAVE a conscience. BE HEALTHY!
Traditional Peoples who have not always had access to meat for B-12 and other nutrients discovered that if they wrapped tofu in tropicalleaves and let it ferment, it supplied what they needed (they did not know exactly what at the time) and the food was preserved. Rhizopus oligosporus exists on the leaves and transfers B-12. You are very educated on nutrition and probably know this, I just wanted to throw that out there. One third of the world eats tempeh almost every day. Fondest regards.
This is the most disappointed I've ever been in any so-called raw vegan leader. I can't imagine your business could survive this. I go to people for advice who are getting the results I want (those who walk the talk). What you have done to reinforce the myth that vegan diets are unhealthy, is very damaging and that's what I'm the most upset about.
@Gary1111001 Thanks for the advice, I'll look into it. I know meateaters get B12 def as well, but I can only say what I see for now.
My partner had the same stuff that most female vegs have, 7 yrs period probs, which we but down to satan (soya), but 2 months mega b12 = no more problems.
B12 probably shouldn't be a problem in the natural world, what with soiled food & grubs in fruit. But in our sanitized world it's too easy to fall, one nightmare stomach infection = antibiotics = death 10 yrs on
@Garyr1111001 i used to be raw, go to africa and build a school in a poor village in zambia, see how long you last as a raw vegan. Raw veganism falls apart as soon as you start focussing outwards instead of your own wellbeing. We need to stop worshipping food and start seeing it as no more than sustainance to fuel our efforts in helping those less fortunate.
@johnchapterseventeen I don't see what you're implying. Yes, I see food mostly as fuel(as Dr Graham says). that's why I eat simple. Get enough calories from a natural source and your fine(no need for meat). I think I'd do even better in Africa due to the warmth, more Sun and natural,tree-ripened fruit. Maybe your talking about 'poor' places that were ruined ecologically by western interests(using Africans as "legal slaves" to grow coffee beans and sugar - ruining the bio-diversity.
Thanks for your honesty. I recently started eating meat after 12 years (my entire adult life) vegetarian/vegan. I started with organic eggs, then fish and organic meats. Life feeds on life, and although sometimes that's bloody and ugly, it's the way of the world, and not everyone can thrive being vegan. I won't support conventional animal agriculture, but only the most humane I can find. I feel a new sense of balance and sanity, and I'm suddenly not a compulsive overeater anymore.
Even Swami Vivekananda, when visiting the US, ate meat ... in spiritual people there is no dogma ... in the religious (fanatics) there often is ... always follow the living spirit. Natasha is wonderful: an integrous person!
yes, BUT ... it is not good to eat the egg that has already been fertilized. I discard the egg that has been fertilized (you will note the clear dots in the yellow of the egg)
@mariaperiwinkle More than morals, a plant diet is Perfectly natural. So many vegans don't even know that. Going raw creates detox. Relax and let the body heal.
So i guess that means that your no longer a vegitarian or a vegan or a raw foodist............so are you going to change the name of your channel...since your no longer raw...?
I really appreciate your honesty. Many of us suffer from B12 deficiencies and I have added seafood and eggs to my diet. I feel good where I am and will blood test again soon. Blessings to you.
Like other commenters, I really respect her honesty & flexibility. But there's so much heartbreak on her face - some of the usual sparkle missing. Maybe that's due to feeling crappy cause of the B12 symptoms, or a stressful time of life (stress makes people more succeptible to B12 deficiency). But since veganism is so huge to her I sense the pain is about breaking her morals too. Gabriel Cousens says brewer's yeast, sea veggies, bee pollen & Klamath Lake algae work - no dead animals needed.
In yr high fruit video, u were just GLOWING with tons of energy. It's highly likely that the natural source and highly absorbable B vitamins from Tree Of Life would work really well with this diet, therefore with no need for animal products which are known for damaging health and causing destruction of the environment. It's important for people to know that B12 is naturally in the digestive system from birth n remains ther unless the digestive system is damaged by harmful diet inc. animal prod
I think that eating animal products in the simplest non-processed way is what man has done for years. My family is Buddhist and they eat meat sometimes and I've even seen the monks at the temple do it. It's ok....it is about appreciating life and your health and to be thankful for the animal for giving you the nutrients you need. Plus you live in Thailand where they make delicious seafood with lime and chillis and mmmmm the freshness of the seasonings are just so good.
@bluemoonreefer There is no such thing as 'non'-processed food. If you put fire to something that changes it's physical form (and possibly chemical if you take into account the color change), it's processed.
@HybridD91 well, if you pick an orange from a tree and peel it then eat it it's not processed is it? In other countries people eat meat raw right after they butcher the animal themselves and that's not processes either....Google non processed foods.
I watched an interview with Daniel Vitalis who also had trouble with B-12 and his nervous system after being on a raw-food diet for years. He now supports a diet that includes animal protein.
@healingmyself He's also a snake-oil salesman. He scares people into thinking their raw-foodism is unhealthy - which is ridiculous.....then sells a bunch of supliments to "make up" for it.
And since Vitalis recommends animal products, why does he sell B-12 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
WOW here is what I have to say... please read this... Thank you
Honesty - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaHonesty refers to a facet of moral character and denotes positive, virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, and straightforwardness. This is you Natha St. Michelles! You Rock!!!! Thank you for your story. Now I don't feel so bad when my body tells me I need to eat something out of my diet, like white fish. I really enjoyed part 1 and part 2
There are some inconsistencies about the personal accounts in this video. Although the speaker is charismatic, she is claiming she needed to switch to cooked food. But cooking meat kills B12 and digestive enzymes to absorb them.
USDA Table of Nutrient Retention Factors (2003).
Typical Maximum Nutrient Losses (as compared to raw food)
@raezen "How do you account for her feeling better and being able to focus? Mere coincidence?"
By the fact that she includes B12 in diet now, whereas she neglected it before. This doesn't explain why she resorted to consuming meat, much less cooking meat, though.
Appreciate your honesty! You are my favourite raw food personality, since you are so NOT about the rigid dogmatic religious fanaticism that seems to surround a lot of raw foodies like an aura. I'm looking forward to seeing how your body reacts to these changes in the long term, and how it's working out for you.
I'm really curious if you considered using fortified soymilk or fortified orange juice? That is what I use - does your body have an issue w/ it since it's not natural to the food?

You look alot healthier and calmer. The Okinawan's live the longest and they eat fish. You called out the hypocrisy and that is important for psychological well being. You may have reacted early on to the chemicals in your diet and over associated the chemicals with the food itself. Now that you have removed the chemicals, you can have more flexibility and take care of yourself in any way you need.
Please stay away from beef and pork. It has a lot of cholestrol and fat and it is difficult to digest. Stay with the fish, and you'll feel better. Being close to the ocean, you can get fish for cheap and it will be fresh. I am happy for you living in a tropical place near the ocean. You get plenty of Sunshine, and fresh fruits and veggies, and fresh fish. What a great life you have!!! Enjoy and video tape it!!!
Thumbs up! You went to your doctor and you listened to his advice, and you are feeling better. Good you are eating fish, and it is not making you sick. You don't have to eat a lot of fish to get the B12. My doctor says meat (fish) portion should be the size of a deck of cards, a day. The earth is covered by 75% w/water, and there are many fishes. Keep up with your raw food... raw food is live food... Cooked food is dead food... per Jay Kordich (Juice Daddy). You live near the ocean!
Im SO glad you recognized the hypocricy surrounding this area of the raw food world. I, too, believe in raw food, but obviously if you can ONLY get b12 through animal products, and your body NEEDS b12 to function, then it stands to reason that your body was meant to eat certain meats.
I am 80% raw, most of what I eat is not animal protiens, but it is there and I personally believe that is how God created us to eat. (I eat chicken and some sea food mostly)
I really respect the fact that you're not about the label. Eating highly raw is just about the best thing anyone can do for their healthy. But as you said, if there's a natural way to heal a deficiency, that is what we're meant to do. The body knows best. All the best :)
Like others have mentioned, thank you for the honesty.
Question: do you think that eggs (from healthy chickens, of course), could provide you with sufficient vitamin B12? I am vegan and I eat some B12 fortified foods with the occasional supplements, but I have been doing that since before I cut out meat. If I ever found out that I was deficient, and the last resort was animal products, I'd definitely want to stay away from meat. I am curious what your thoughts are on eggs since your diet change
Thank you for sharing your story. I know with your beliefs and everything this had to be a hard choice but overall was the best one. The number one thing is your health which is right in line with what you share with us on a regular basis.
Actually, this is more inspiring to me than someone living 100% raw because most people are not going to stay perfectly raw, for whatever reason. A high-raw diet is absolutely acceptable and also very convenient, which is important because our lives should not be centering around an obsession for food, even the healthy variety.
Natasha you are so awesome. Everyone has a favorite raw foodie, and you are mine. I've been having neurological difficulties lately (I'm mostly vegetarian and not raw) - and I'm having my B12 tested tomorrow because of your videos. Thank you.

Do many vegans experience this issue, or is this a rare case? (1 in a million type thing?)
EmberflyLayouts 7 months ago
@EmberflyLayouts I'm vegan for 3 years, vegetarian for many more... and I've never had B12 problems but I've had anemia. But, I had worse anemia BEFORE going vegan. You can get vegan B12 from soy milk, nutritional yeast, miso, natto, kimchi, kombucha, and multivitamins. However, I don't know good sources that are both vegan and raw.

This is so valuable to have honest view points of somebody like her who try to hard to improve her health. I wish her efforts were more common. I'm not eating animal products myself and I supplement b12 but I respect her choices. How would you feel if somebody judged you from doing what you feel is right and vital for you?

Well jeez, I sounded so dramatic in previous comment...I was in a mood. I too went back to fish/dairy/eggs, but only occasionally, for a spell years ago, but came back to vegan, and so glad I did. And I do consider that lapse a sad period; I gained a lot of weight (have since lost it) and had other related problems. But it was a learning experience too. ...Not that you asked, but there it is :-)

Wo to your men who are being lured to their doom.
zigzigerblat 9 months ago 2
What I find odd is that meat has so little b12 that you should not have felt any improvement given that b12 injections did not work for you. If you were going to incorporate meat for b12 you would eat clams alone because they have the highest levels of b12. Even then you would need to eat 70 clams per day 365 days per year to get the Japanese and European RDA of b12.
Also, I have never heard that b12 injections contain IGF-1. What is up with that?
zigzigerblat 9 months ago 4

B12 deficiencies occur primarily when: 1.) Something is competing for your B12 (like parasites); 2.) Something is destroying your B12 (like cyanide in cigarettes); or 3.) Something is preventing the proper absorption of B12 (like inadequate production of intrinsic factor).
herbaljunky 10 months ago 4
Much respect. I could never be on a raw food diet long term personally.

I am vegan for 6 months now and NEVER intent to deprive the life of ANY living being, I have been taking a B12 supplement(1 pill of 1000ug/day) and soon will run some tests...But I've heard of many many vegans that have no problem at all just with the pill...

If you feel you need more B12 then kombucha tea is a great source with many other benefits as well that will help your health issues.
Dogma means opinion. Terrifying an animal, putting it through unbearable pain and taking its life is not dogma.
B12 deficiences are often an absorption issue and flesh and dairy eaters have just as much of an issue with B12 as vegans. It is only that vegans tend to get tested more than meat eaters so it shows up.

Small amounts of Clean animal products, free of hormones and antibiotics is also alright. Your heart knows the truth. Moderation in all things.
Religion o

You were a vegan eating cooked food for so many years and healthy re B12. Do you recon going raw is what caused the B12 to fall below acceptable levels as opposed to being a vegan?
hfocus001 1 year ago

This occurs only in meat so I will be buying the powder.
zigzigerblat 1 year ago

EarthAwakener 1 year ago
@EarthAwakener ...day of her life almost, and had a B12 deficiency. I respect what anyone chooses, but just want to say that it's wrong for people to fear B12 if they just do this simple thing. We're not out in nature picking it up everywhere. We treat our drinking water, rely on modern agriculture, and have such good hygiene that it's difficult. Even animals in agriculture can have their diets supplemented for B12. Cows have cobalt added to their diet to help bacteria produce B12.
EarthAwakener 1 year ago 2
@EarthAwakener : Large-scale farms feed their livestock grains which is unnatural for the animal and produces a less healthy animal. Feed the animal its natural diet and it thrives! Not rocket science. All cattle should be grass fed.
auggiedoggy 10 months ago
@auggiedoggy Hello. Grass fed, grazing cattle are also supplemented. It depends on what the soil is like, and even the season. They need the cobalt for B12. What I'm saying is essentially what you're saying. That is, when you remove animals (like us) from a natural environment, that's why certain nutrients end up missing. For a strict vegetarian, one of those is B12. Another, if you spend all day in a cave or home out of the sun, is vitamin D.
EarthAwakener 10 months ago
@EarthAwakener : Well, the soil quality has been on the decline for a long time. If grass fed cattle actually do get supplements that could certainly explain why. I live in Canada and vitamin D supplementation is a must for much of the year.
auggiedoggy 10 months ago

Gary1111001 1 year ago
@Gary1111001 ive responded to similar questions over and over again. sadly one has to experience this for themselves to learn. just a word of advice to people on a vegan diet...get your blood tested, listen to your body and never stop learning!!!!! i hope nobody following a vegan diet has their health fail them like mine has. peace
alekasattic23 1 year ago
@alekasattic23 Statistics from blood tests show:
The average vegan has 7 deficiencies
The average meat-eater has 13 deficiencies
So EVERYONE should get a blood test. A plant-based diet isn't inherently deficient. It is better on blood test and every other way.
I spent the 90's taking 'every' supplement; and felt crummy. Now I feel better after 3 years raw, and no supplements. The moral: There's more to health than nutrients.

Tons of raw foodists change their diets after a while and start adding raw animal products. like goat cheese and eggs. Some even eat raw meats, so don't feel too bad. We do what we have to, to survive.
triniwwee 1 year ago 2
@triniwwee Dr. Doug Graham DOES'NT add animal products - after 30 YEARS. Look HIM up, people.
"don't feel to bad" - I'm going for feeling GOOD. And I do. Look ME up.

LOL. durianriders neighbor eats primarily raw meat and is b-12 deficient. Your nerve senses improved because of the stimulation you got from eating animal products. Same happens with spices, coffee, and condiments.

I've yet to see the long term effects of a vegan diet good or bad, so I can't judge her too much for doing this, maybe it is right for her. I'd love to hear from people that have been doing a vegan/raw vegan diet long term with no ill effects because truly that would be ideal :)
antwonbowl20 1 year ago
The truth is that even if people should eat some animal products, the amount of meat, eggs, dairy etc people consume is far TOO MUCH. We can work towards not having factory farming and treating animals better regardless. Anyway, those are just my thoughts. It's clear Natasha did not come to this decision easily and sounds like she will only be eating the amount she feels she needs, not scarffing down chicken nuggets and burgers every meal.
antwonbowl20 1 year ago

What you have done to reinforce the myth that vegan diets are unhealthy, is very damaging and that's what I'm the most upset about.
leafgrrl 1 year ago
B12 is the monster in the closet of vegan/raw food diets & you definitely shouldn't regret eating for your health before everything else.
Having had the B12 nightmare myself I've had plenty of time to look at what we should be eating & I think fish, eggs and poss milk are needed.
My partner, vegan 20yrs, eating exactly what I did went bad when I did & took up eating eggs again, she recovered, I got worse, even with b12 supps.
Sadly veganism is a dangerous road, potentially to an early death.
scoocheeful 1 year ago
@scoocheeful B12 is not a monster, it's a red herring. Study it yourself....... see b12 myths, Dr Graham+b12, Durianrider+b12, theFruitarian+b12
Gary1111001 1 year ago
@Gary1111001 Thanks for the advice, I'll look into it. I know meateaters get B12 def as well, but I can only say what I see for now.
My partner had the same stuff that most female vegs have, 7 yrs period probs, which we but down to satan (soya), but 2 months mega b12 = no more problems.
B12 probably shouldn't be a problem in the natural world, what with soiled food & grubs in fruit. But in our sanitized world it's too easy to fall, one nightmare stomach infection = antibiotics = death 10 yrs on
scoocheeful 1 year ago 2
@Garyr1111001 i used to be raw, go to africa and build a school in a poor village in zambia, see how long you last as a raw vegan. Raw veganism falls apart as soon as you start focussing outwards instead of your own wellbeing. We need to stop worshipping food and start seeing it as no more than sustainance to fuel our efforts in helping those less fortunate.
johnchapterseventeen 1 year ago
@johnchapterseventeen I don't see what you're implying. Yes, I see food mostly as fuel(as Dr Graham says). that's why I eat simple. Get enough calories from a natural source and your fine(no need for meat). I think I'd do even better in Africa due to the warmth, more Sun and natural,tree-ripened fruit. Maybe your talking about 'poor' places that were ruined ecologically by western interests(using Africans as "legal slaves" to grow coffee beans and sugar - ruining the bio-diversity.
Gary1111001 1 year ago
i gave up raw when i realised i was spending more time focussing on my diet than focussing on helping others.

@mariaperiwinkle More than morals, a plant diet is Perfectly natural. So many vegans don't even know that. Going raw creates detox. Relax and let the body heal.

It's important for people to know that B12 is naturally in the digestive system from birth n remains ther unless the digestive system is damaged by harmful diet inc. animal prod
natureasintended 1 year ago 2
I think that eating animal products in the simplest non-processed way is what man has done for years. My family is Buddhist and they eat meat sometimes and I've even seen the monks at the temple do it. It's ok....it is about appreciating life and your health and to be thankful for the animal for giving you the nutrients you need. Plus you live in Thailand where they make delicious seafood with lime and chillis and mmmmm the freshness of the seasonings are just so good.
bluemoonreefer 1 year ago 7
@bluemoonreefer There is no such thing as 'non'-processed food. If you put fire to something that changes it's physical form (and possibly chemical if you take into account the color change), it's processed.
HybridD91 10 months ago
@HybridD91 well, if you pick an orange from a tree and peel it then eat it it's not processed is it? In other countries people eat meat raw right after they butcher the animal themselves and that's not processes either....Google non processed foods.

Hi Natasha,
I watched an interview with Daniel Vitalis who also had trouble with B-12 and his nervous system after being on a raw-food diet for years. He now supports a diet that includes animal protein.
healingmyself 1 year ago 3
@healingmyself He's also a snake-oil salesman. He scares people into thinking their raw-foodism is unhealthy - which is ridiculous.....then sells a bunch of supliments to "make up" for it.
And since Vitalis recommends animal products, why does he sell B-12 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

There are some inconsistencies about the personal accounts in this video. Although the speaker is charismatic, she is claiming she needed to switch to cooked food. But cooking meat kills B12 and digestive enzymes to absorb them.
USDA Table of Nutrient Retention Factors (2003).
Typical Maximum Nutrient Losses (as compared to raw food)
Vitamins Freeze Dry Cook Cook+Drain Reheat
Vitamin B12 0% 0% 45% 50% 45%

@raezen "How do you account for her feeling better and being able to focus? Mere coincidence?"
By the fact that she includes B12 in diet now, whereas she neglected it before. This doesn't explain why she resorted to consuming meat, much less cooking meat, though.
Why do u ask?

KissMeQuk 1 year ago
Im SO glad you recognized the hypocricy surrounding this area of the raw food world. I, too, believe in raw food, but obviously if you can ONLY get b12 through animal products, and your body NEEDS b12 to function, then it stands to reason that your body was meant to eat certain meats.
I am 80% raw, most of what I eat is not animal protiens, but it is there and I personally believe that is how God created us to eat. (I eat chicken and some sea food mostly)
**props**
bestestmama 1 year ago 2
@bestestmama Most of the animals people eat - for B12 - are herbivores.
.......talk about hypocricy.....or delusion.
Gary1111001 1 year ago

Actually, this is more inspiring to me than someone living 100% raw because most people are not going to stay perfectly raw, for whatever reason. A high-raw diet is absolutely acceptable and also very convenient, which is important because our lives should not be centering around an obsession for food, even the healthy variety.
