  • 2002 Turbos were only made in 1973 and 1974... how come this is 76?

  • I <3 my '02

  • BMW 2002 is one of my Fav bimmers!

  • Is it a BMW 2002 Turbo or a Leopard Tank? Hard to tell, watching at 0:17

  • That's a pretty car. I'd Love to see more of it, if you have more pics or vids :)

  • thank you 2002 for giving me my e30

  • One less classic car. Nice. I'm thinking about buying a 1930s Bugatti Atlantique and putting some nice wheels and a big ass Turbo. What do you think?

  • @GPatuleiaMarques

The 2002 turbo was a production car. What are you on about?

  • gahhh this sounds sooo sickk!!!

  • My dad used to be a race pro with Skip Barber at the Road Atlanta speedway and they used to teach how to race with 2002s. Mario Andretti used to drive my dads when he showed up each time. But it was N/A with 3.0 Weber Carbs.

  • awesome car. Have a cool philipino friend, he and his family used to race these and only these back home. These cars are timeless and PROVEN fun- awesome ride man!

  • Get rid of the purple/nasty tint and you're golden. BMW FTW.

Check out some of my bmw programming videos!

  • BMW 2002 Turbo Poster flickr.com/photos/48460960@N08/4926562741/

  • That sound is gorgeous :o

  • Very nice...I would love one.

  • How much psi was the car running to make htis power?

Do you guys offer a turbo kit for the 2002?

  • where do you get the parts of the car?? like the bodykit and the engine? i cant find it in my area or on ebay. thank you.

  • WAS that the original Engine of bmw 2002 ?

  • These cars are one one of the first of their kind. A small light, quick, efficent and roomy car that was affordable

  • does not sound like the original m10 engine...saw a write up not too long ago of a 335i turbo engine transplant into a 2002. same colour too. is it this car???

  • its like *rub* *rub* *rub* *rub* *rub* *rub*

    Orgasm = turbo kicks

  • These cars are BADASS. I'd like to get myself a Tii to work on..

There's great History when it comes to cars of all Categories/Groups, Cultures, Race Series, etc.

Car companies are influenced by their Competing Brands to better Technologies and Create New Designs.

FanBoy-ism can go too far. Recognize that all cars can be both Intriguing, and Riveting.

  • Oh, and fucking epic car mate, I am so jealous! I currently have a 79 528i with some mods and an 86 944 wich is for sale... I am gonna get an e21 and put an m20 motor with i head in it or maybe a 2002, not sure yet...

  • Ok, I have owned old Porsches, BMWs, Datsuns, and VWs, would never even think of buying an american muscle car. "Hey, look, I can put my foot to the floor and beat you in a straight line!" Great, now try to follow me through these twisties. Infact I once was in a 77 celica gts (pile) and a guy in a mid 80's stang tried to follow me in the rain and ended up smushed into a hillside (totaled)... Anyhow BMW rules, Datsun/Toyota are cool too in my book. Porsche for style, VW if you are a broke ass...

  • Can someone please tell me what rims these are? Or does anyone know where I can purchase a bmw 2002 turbo body kit?

  • @salimdelcorazon

No idea about rimes But for turbo kit , i think you have to check with ebay.com or amazon , alot of classic car accessories in there

  • The oldschool M striping is gorgeous.

  • The 2002 is what started the small sports car revolution and the reason I love German engineering. Nice Turbo...

  • lmao your trippin in fairy land. the datsun 510 was there at the same exact time starting a revolution of its own and dont you forget it

  • gotta love the hot dot, but the 2002 is still my fav.

  • @rapsy123 silly datsun fan, the bmw 700 sport and rs were racing long before 510 and sports 1600

  • @rebounder43 too bad this isnt a 700 sport or rs its a 2002 and that what my comment was about

  • @rapsy123 All you 510 owners need to fuck off. Even Yutaka Katayama (the president of Datsun at the time) said that the 510 was inspired and modeled after the BMW 1602. The 510 didn't start anything it was a cheap copy of a great car. The 510 came out at the same time as the 2002 because the 2002 was BMW's next step beyond the 1602. The 510 is NOT a copy of the 2002, it is a copy of the 1602 which came before either. FUCK OFF

  • anyone got one for sale? or know someong?

  • I have a 2002 turbo for sale

  • I have this car but it was originally a non turbo and I used a motronic 951 ecu with a gt30r turbo and a pressure sensor instead of mass air. It is good for 350hp all day long. These cars are beat and handle like they are on rails

  • i picked up a 1976 2002 in good shape for 500 bucks .its my first BMW.if any one has any kind of tips at all ,please i can use any help at all.

  • ive had one for 10 years, hit me up. not turbo

  • yeah, what was the flame?

  • looks like they have an open atmosphere wastegate. The part that limits the amount of exhaust pressure put on the turbo, has a drain and open atmosphere means it drains into the open air, and is nick named a screamer pipe etc etc

He let off the throttle real fast and that flame was probably a little extra gas firing off in the exhaust and out of the screamer pipe....

  • what was the flame under the car a t0;15.??

  • nice car, nice sound, nice video.

    5/5

  • Nice Car, what is done to the engine? Cam, pistons, head, How much boost is in this clip?

Ps you can watch and comment on my dynorun to if you want.

  • nice!

  • It's like a JetAirplane!!!lol

  • Regardless of who I support I do it intelligently. Anyway I have proven my point along with many others here. The 2002, ti, tii and Turbo were and still are awesome cars and until you open your mind and heart to things you dont understand you will never have a true appreciation for fine automobiles or what their contribution is to history.

  • @bryjb10 well said.

  • @bryjb10 Vorchsprug durch techknik!!!

  • Who said a big engine is a waste. I said that large displacment is not necessary and US automakers just done get it. I am sure that Environmentalist would not like me as I have had many small displacment v-8's and v-12's. Also It just shows how much research and knowledge you really have. Obma is NOT a Environmentalist. You my friend are one of the millions in this Country who should stay home election day and leave the voting to people who actually can make informative educated decisions.

  • Ah but in a democracy, even the stupid have equal rights. And a right to BE stupid.

  • Well as long as stupid people get to make some decisions... we will pay for it... democracy? why?

  • Mayb880, Seriously! Come on... every car of that area with the paint and metal technology had rust issues. I have seen Mustangs of that area with the same issues.

They never officially imported the 2002 Turbo to the USA and they only produced 1672 total! Many of them are still around and they are very collectable. It might be good if you actually researched what you are debating first.

  • Actually a 1973 BMW 2002tii's high book is almost 60k now a days and a Turbo which is very rare is more like 80k if you can even find one. Why is it so hard for you to see the facts. Everyone here but you understands.

  • as an example the Gumpert Apollo uses a 4 liter V-8 and is possibly the fastest production car produced.

  • Actually I am an Engineer and have been for 10years. I dont know who you have been talking to but Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche etc dont get any better gas mileage than american supercars. 3.0l to 4.0l V-8 and V-12's are not small engines. Aparently you have not have had the opportunity to compare both in person. I have.

Larger displacment comes in handy when its a SEMI truck or TOP Fuel DRAG Car. Its wasted old technology in supercars.

  • I am selling a buddy of mines 2006 Corvette Z06 which is a nice car but the Nissan GTR is quicker and handles much better. American car MFG's need to consider smaller displacment engines. Ferrari, Porsche, BMW and many many others have been doing this forever and getting 500+ HP with better economy, better power band and torque. I have high hopes for the new challenger but I would like to see a better power plant. Its the much of the same components that they have been using for 30+ years.

  • Actually I paid 39k for my 335i and the 135i which is the new 2002 with the same twin turbo 6 configuration is even cheaper. So your theory holds no water. Thats not much more than the crap american cars and way cheaper than any new True Shelby. A normal crap gt is 32k and Shelbys are 50-80k.

  • This is not true we dont like Superchargers over Turbos. There are plenty of Turbos here. Turbo lag doens have to be bad unless you get too big of a turbo and with the new variable vein turbos out there Superchargers will be going away.

  • mayb880 is obviously a Racist and had poor role models growing up. This is why he cant see past anything other than American cars. Yes it would kill any 289 Mustang because of its cornering ability and power to weight ratio. Its sad that still today we have people like mayb880 that cant see past race color and seemingly had an effect on his opinions of cars of the world. The BMW 2002 is an Iconic car and was more important in its racing history than the racing history of the FORD

  • mayb880 shut the hell up! you and people like you are the reason the rest of the world hate us Americans, YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT. so the rest of the world just know that all americans arnt all stupid! i love BMW's, e30 for ever!!!

  • what do you mean 300hp for the v6? the v6 has a lousy 210. which you probably know is less than the 2002 turbo. And did you know the 2002 is in the top 20 coolest cars of all time. And one of the most influential cars of all time. And classic motorsports magazine had a nine page article about it?

  • Well did you know 2002 turbos like this one cost well over 20,00 dollars racist man?

  • You would be surprised just how well a stock 2002 can go especially around bends. They are fun cars - Probably one of the funnest cars to drive. They dont look and sound anywhere near as good as a GT500, but they can move in the right conditions. BMW invented the turbo RWD 4 cyl car and it took 25 years for other manufacturers to catch up. This car is a legend in its own right - just as the GT500 is...

  • Now you are changing my words... a stock 2002 versus a stock 289 mustang, at ANY circuit (with bends of course)... the BMW WILL win, the mustang is just a boat masked as a car... (btw, i adore mustangs, they are full of grunt!), but there are just more sophisticated cars in this world, that's all I am saying. Argueing about a turbocharged 4cil or a 454ci big block has no point, they are both good at what they are supposed to...or going fast on a circuit, or going fast on a straight line...

  • @ mayb880

Ow man you are just so funny, so you really think every car is better than the 2002??

I don't know what 2002 you have driven, but at the time, the stock 2002 was faster, better built and way ahead in technique compared to the mustang...

I mean, the 2002 has a great chassis, independent rear suspension,... even the '08 Shelby GT500 can only dream about such items... So please, just admit you are wrong dude...

  • great car 5 star

  • really there are few nations that are still in the stone age: china , americans and arabians: all peoprle that love the wheapons that have the death penality , that dont know anything outside their garden.(but the americans between those three nations win this stupid race)

  • o my god: compare an "AMERICANATE" for funny highroads yankees with a pure sport car like the 70's bmw 2002 turbo: but have you never seen it?the mustang is an heavvy big car masked into a sportcar

  • Mayb880: V4 mustang? What, you think Ford contracted Honda to put some motorcycle engines into their cars? Do some research on you beloved mustangs, the third generation (foxbody) was available with a 4 cyl engine (Thats an Inline-four or I4 FYI) as well as v6 and v8 options. Unfortunately, they are all crap, every one, even the ones with blowers, all Plagued by the fact that Ford can't build a decent manual gearbox or IRS to save their own ass... and BTW, that 2002 up there would rape a 'stang

  • mayb880 you are ignorant.

  • OK, admitting that you wear a cutout bed sheet in the middle of the night doesn't solve anything. It just shows how ignorant you are.

2002's are light, They are a great platform to build a racecar. There is one of them that is turboed out in finland trapping 8.50's in the 1/4 mile. I had one last year I swapped a turbo m20b25 into with Megaspuirt fuel injection that ran a 12.45 at MMSP around May. By the way as a so junker a real grey market 2002 turbo in the USA will fetch 40K.

  • as with only a dumbass redneck like you would drive a POS stock mustang and down other peoples cars. I live three blocks away from Dynospeed Racing in Memphis. Iv'e seen some of the Fastest mustangs in the world as well as designed parts in CAD for some them. Does Joey Bridge or John Gotera ring a bell? Ask them if they know me. There's your answer you one track minded racist pig. I'm white by the way and just so happen to live in the USA. You give Mustang owners a bad rap.

  • Only stupid americans think old, heavy, big V8 muscles are good LOL :D They are maybe good in drag strip (if even there) but certainly not when it comes to racing. You know, some roads have bends? Mwahaha

  • dude, get a life other than mustangs. a Geo Metro is faster than the auto four cylinder hand me down fox body you drive. so i guess you can say any car is better than what you drive. How does it feel when the tables are turned. By the way, I can back my words up with my own car, can you?

  • dude you are full of yourself, who gives a rats ass about some POS slow ass mustang you have as well as every other person that got suckered into buying one of those primative pieces of crap. Ford doesnt even put IRS in the new mustangs. BMW had it on the 2002 way back in the 1960's. No car is perfect. But I tell you what, look on my video page and see if you want to run my "slow old bmw." I dont have a drag car but it will walk on 90% of those V8 domestics in drift or drag any day. Pick on that

  • Of course there are many cars better than the 2002 turbo and I'd agree the mustang's a great car - but the fact that you'd even compare two must mean that the tiny euro racer's very close (especially away from the drag strip). And find another car from 1973 that was 1000kg, turbo'd with independant suspension all round and limited slip diff as standard. The mustang had an engine and looks and it's great but sometimes some folk prefer brains over braun.

  • You can argue about 4 cylinder 2L turbo power verses American V6 or V8 all day long but that beamer (introduced 1972) still has a better chasis than an '08 mustang! So; given a further 38 years the mustang might have the same power/litre too!!

  • I don't think so

  • How dense are you? Clearly this car isn't stock, and it's being discussed, not a stock 2002. Not to mention a stock v6 mustang is a boat of a car. This 2002 would rape a v6 mustang all day.

  • This car would eat a stock V6 Mustang like nothing, dude. This car weighs probably a thousand pounds less, is boosted like crazy, and puts out about twice the power. And only a select few V8 American cars could beat this, even less American cars could out-maneuver it.

  • is that a stock block? im doing a 325i swap should be a little more hotter then the stock block right

  • Stock v6 mustang? lol. I REALLY hope he's kidding.

  • very slow car? im guessing your joking right? lovely beemer!

  • excellent

  • oh baby... come to pappa.

that sounds seriously powerful when that turbo kicks in

  • is that HP at 6500RPM or so? it sounds pretty much like my (mostly) stock 2002 until around 4000. I but it's tons of fun, though.

  • nice car 2002 turbo

when you look the car from a mirror you see turbo in his front spoiler

  • SLEEPER!

  • due to the twin-carburetor engine the car could not be made to meet the new Federal exhaust emissions regulations, and so it could not be sold in america.

  • hmm im not sure about that... my uncle bout a 2002 brand new and still has it, i love it

  • The factory turbo was a tii (Kugelfischer injection). The 'ti' is the twin-sidedraft-carb model.

The 2002tii turbo was 170 hp. This car sounds pretty gnarly. I bet it's quite a ride.

  • bmw only made 4000 of the 2002 turbo car in white and silver only, the body comes as standard

  • Actually only 1672 factory 2002 Turbos were made, all were 1974 models, and none were officially imported to the US (several have since been brought in). Since this car is listed as a '76, it's probably a replica of the factory car. The fender flares were part of the factory Turbo package, but the lower side skirts and rear skirt fitted to this car were not. Also, factory Turbos had chrome, not body-color bumpers

  • where did you get that bodykit?

  • I like that car in silver + Motorsport colors

  • harvinaisia nämä tuulilasista just luin=) ihan hyvin vakionakin kiihtyy.

  • sounds great

  • That must be a head-turner, I never seen one of these. Heard that the original 2002tii Alpina is basically gone, all wrecked I guess.
