He actually said in the movie that he could get the scars removed but he left them their so he can be reminded everyday. and for the paralysis, jake didn't have the money for the surgery or whatever. why else would he go to pandoro? they were going to pay him good and fix his legs.
avatar is hands down the best movie of the decade. i cant stop thinking about it and how much the navi are the most awesome race of creatures ever! i hope this comes out on bluray soon!!
don't worry about curing a cripple. Once there is a flaw in the spine there is no way to fix it, probably never will be. The numb feeling of your body afterwards never goes away, there's nerve damage. In 2020+ it'll be the same way. Advances in spacetravel will be possible but to what extent. The military is trying to a mine a precious ore that has magnetic properties that's why we see floating chunks of cliffs, not put there cos they look cool but are scientifically secured by Cameron
if stem cells take off (all ethics aside, just hypothetical), they have promise to fix problems like that and mend the nerve damage (not a doctor thou)
What i think is really cool is that this movie will be one the last films of the decade and it will gloriously top it off with its originality and orgasmically good effects.
The movie is meant to be seen in 3D and clearly watching a trailer on TV is not going to do it justice. When it comes out I'm going to watch it the way it's MEANT to be seen then pass judgment. IMAX 3D for the win
ravennome its not a plothole. They explain it as this- in the future, spinal injuries etc ARE curable, but because the planet earth is so overpopulated, with some 20billion people, and because poverty is rife, people simply can't afford the operation. Thats the case with Jake (wheelchair guy), hes just a poor war veterean. He goes to Pandora to take control of the Avatar after his twin brother is killed.. hope that doesnt spoil anythin!
It's Dances With Wolves. And there's nothing wrong with combining two genre for one unique and amazing experience like Avatar. In fact, I think its pretty awesome. And I'm glad you guys loved the preview. Avatar needs as much positive responses as possible right now.
Great, entertaining review. Good to see others with the same enthusiasm I felt after seeing it on the imax screen in 3d. The buzz in the crowd was great after. This was TRULY immersion and he shouldn't have released a trailer in any format other than 3d. I'm kind of shocked since youtube's beta 3d features are available now that they didn't do an exclusive with youtube. It's not the best 3d.. but it's 3d!! DO NOT watch the flat trailer, people.
this movie was the best mover evere made iam going to see it 2 more times and buy it when it come out on blue ray i also have the game it is so good

I could agree more, ravennome. CGI takes over the movies, leaving it with no story. It looks like thats the case with avatar.
