I did not once see where the Officer was, as you say, harassing the camera man. The Officer was curious as to why he was being filmed and supposedly followed. Same thing as asking a black person "Why are you drinking from that water fountain?" or a woman "Why are you voting?" I totally support open carry (and all rkba issues) and think you have helped that cause. However, this cop didn't do anything wrong. If you filmed me, a private citizen, I would be curious why you did that. You have the right, but so does he have the right to ask. Someone could certainly film police with ill intent, such as to capture their patrol movement or record their identity to target a specific officer for revenge, and there is nothing wrong with him looking into it.

I did a bit about this, when I did a course in filming and as far as I'm aware you cannot film police officers, if they ask for your camera, the police are within their rigths and you have to give to them, but it may be just Irish law.

If you work for the public then we can film you, and you must give your name if you are working. If you are selling cigarrets at a local store you probably can ask someone not to film you since it is private property and you are not a public servant. This is why the Colonies left the Crown.

The funny thing is the murder rate here in the U.S. has NOTHING to do with carrying guns legally. Because the people that carry the guns legally are LAW ABIDING citizens. Therefore, they went through the proper training, and have the proper paperwork to show, and have NOT been convicted of a felony, hence why they can CARRY a fucking firearm. Is carrying a gun protecting yourself? I don't get it. In the U.S. everybody is allowed to carry a gun, right? Do all of them know how to use it? Criminals often do, but the normal citizen? Here in The Netherlands we're not allowed to have guns and we got a far less criminality, murders and other nasty stuff than the U.S. Gun possession brings more violence in a society.

All you morons want to go out and push the limits with the police with your video cameras. Except for a VERY small amount of "Bad Apples", these officers do a extremely dangerous job for minimal pay. How about the next time you need the police, don't call them, just pull out your video camera. Then, if you are still able, let me know how that works out for you.

@agvulpine Apparently this Officer knows the laws of his State and Jurisdiction. Therefore, with no given reason to, there was no need to stop and "harass" the open carriers. I did not once see where the Officer was, as you say, harassing the camera man. The Officer was curious as to why he was being filmed and supposedly followed. I would be as well if someone were filming myself. Very good video, indeed!

@jnovak314 It's harassment for a police officer to ask civilians intimidating questions of implied wrong-doing while they are wearing a badge, and there is no wrong-doing going on. Same thing as asking a black person "Why are you drinking from that water fountain?" or a woman "Why are you voting?" These are essential rights that have been fought and won through pain and bloodshed.

Also, if someone is acting suspicously (and this guy was), it's his job to at least look into it. If you had been victimized you would want the cop to be curious and maybe solve your crime, or prevent one from happening. No rights were violated here, and this isn't the same as your examples.

I totally support open carry (and all rkba issues) and think you have helped that cause. However, this cop didn't do anything wrong. If you filmed me, a private citizen, I would be curious why you did that. You have the right, but so does he have the right to ask. Someone could certainly film police with ill intent, such as to capture their patrol movement or record their identity to target a specific officer for revenge, and there is nothing wrong with him looking into it.

I did a bit about this, when I did a course in filming and as far as I'm aware you cannot film police officers, if they ask for your camera, the police are within their rigths and you have to give to them, but it may be just Irish law.

If you work for the public then we can film you, and you must give your name if you are working. If you are selling cigarrets at a local store you probably can ask someone not to film you since it is private property and you are not a public servant. This is why the Colonies left the Crown.
