@retrotvluver While I was doing research on this group a while back, I came across the girl you mentioned. There is nothing in there bio I read, that tied the two groups togeather. But it is a very good question.Thank you for adding to this discussion, and drop by anytime... :)
I was able to find little bits here and there on Patience and Prudence but I can't find much of anything on The Wayne Sisters. Who are they, what else have they done and what became of them?
@mikeschatname I did some reasearch a while back, and could find nothing on who they were.Tops used many know and unknown artis, and information was not generally released on them.If I shoud find something I will add it. As to Patience and Prudence, besides all there regualar songs that are avaliable on CD, they did one with "Andy Caldwell - Tell Me) on Liberty on which they were not credited. It was just backup, but still good.Orchestra was conducted by there father.Thank you.
@arthurmex The original version was recorded by Teresa Brewer in 1952,with a big band style backing. The one most people remember is the one by Patience and Prudence (1956) which is still my favorite. I listened to the one by Viola ,and it's ok but Disco is not my style. Thanks for stopping by...
Even though I like the original by Patience & Prudence better, this is a groovy version. No strings as in the original but a nifty arrangement. Had never even heard of this version (or the Wayne Sisters) until now...THANKS a million for sharing this delightful gem with us! :)
Say, did anyone notice that track 1 on this EP is by Scatman Crothers?
Cute song and recording; not familiar with the original but this one has a weird sort of hazy shortwave mysteriousness about it, if that makes sense, that I like a lot. Tops Records doesn't have such a hot reputation (I guess it was kind of the Pickwick Records of its day) but if this is any indication their cheapo cover versions might be worth investigating. Thanks for posting.
Yes,I already have Scatmans song up from this record. When TOPS records was started,Pickwick records was it's only compition.I have many of these records. This version of gonna Get Along Without Ya' Now was a big hit for Patience and Prudence, and is already up.You should listen to it,it's a very good song.Thank for stopping by..
This tune has been covered by alot of people over the years. The Patience & Prudence rendition is still the best. The original 1951 version by Teresa Brewer is awful. When you only sing the lower harmony, it sounds like an entirely different tune.
Are these the sisters of Thoma Wayne, who had the hit 'Tragedy', in '59?

@imusfan48 Sorry, but I do not know.

This wouldn't happen to be Carol and Nina Wayne, would it?

cool song

The Wayne Sisters seem to harmonize a lot like Patience & Prudence -- so it sounds pretty good.

Oh God!!; Thank´s Viola for your version!!!

@arthurmex I assume that you do not like this version, which is ok. Who is Viola?
mezskr4 1 year ago
@mezskr4 Well, this is the original version, that´s cool, and, there are more versions, but, in my opinion, the best is of the singer Viola Wills

I'll have to agree with you on the P&P one, but I think that Skeeter Davis's version is not bad either.Hope you enjoyed it.

Teresa's 1964 version was much better. This one's good, though.

its nice to have this cover and cheap versions, they sometimes are very original, because they fail to copy the original
