  • I once read in an article that this was the worst song for the decade it came out. Just shows that anybody can get a job writing garbage. This is a great romantic ballad with a stong jazz tone and uplifting melody. Niel Sadaka is a great American songster.

  • Aaaah thats music ,,,hand in hand with the one i love

  • Great Song and Singer

  • @thomashuggins I was 15 when this came out, great song, takes me back, thank you for posting.

  • @jwillis5039 no problem!

  • This was the # 10 song for the whole year of 1975 and was # 1 for 1 week.

  • We were 16 and on a band trip in the south during the heat of summer. Our bus found itself at the World's Fair in Knoxville. That afternoon saw a beautiful downpour and we enjoyed each other completely in that warm rainstorm...

  • the key change in this just blows my mind.

  • Heavenly bliss.....

  • Jerry West and his wife call this song theirs

  • Did your exclamation key get stuck?????????? One question mark and one exclamation mark would usually be enough.

  • @StJouish did your intelligence get stuck up your ass?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • @thomashuggins Wow. You're a classy guy.

  • @thomashuggins No, he just never had intelligence to begin! :D

  • awesome video and the song is wonderful. no one would ever love me like in those photo's :( just need a little luck. So it is nice to watch the video thank you.

  • Best song and video on You Tube! Thanks so much for the post.

  • Just a great song.....reminds me of childhood, the old oldsmobile my mom driving and singing along.

  • Fab,thanks

  • This song is terrific, and it has perhaps the best hook of all time.

  • Neil Sedaka

  • Isn't this beautiful. I love it.

  • sounds like ann murray alittle

  • I have always loved Neil Sedaka's songs. I also love the duets he did with his daughter. Both have beautiful voices. This however is my favorite. I used to love to walk in the rain...

  • everytime I hear this song I think of Poly Canyon SLO 1974, rainy day, walking and holding hands with Katie M......

  • 12 people don't like to laugh in the rain....

  • One of my favorites from my high school days! The pictures are awesome. Great job!

  • I remember walking in the rain with my girl with a portable radio when this song first came out, We looked at each other as we listened to the words & started to realize we were doing the same things & feeling the same things that he was singing about, so we started laughing..That was 74?, I sure do remember that day, Life goes by too fast...thanks Thomas., your pal Tommy

  • THe girl kissing @ :19 is CUTE I wanna touch her head!

  • i was a teen ager when this came out and at first, i thought it was karen carpenter, whom i also love. neil is awesome and this song jump started his come back of the 70's, after having been a huge star in the 60's.

  • Sedaka was a prolific song writer, composing numerous #1 hits sung by other artists. I personally love the tenor voice and he can sing with the best of them.

  • reminds me when Deacon from King of Queens is singing this in karoke and the guys walk out! Great song!

  • cheesy in the extreme but i love it

  • at age 15 when this beautiful song was released I thought it was a woman singing. But after this song I got to know who Neil Sedaka was..

  • @jamesmay1960 Well, ... Sort of,...He's gayer than Richard Simmons, and that's so flaming, even the fire department cant get close enough to control the blaze.

  • i thought for the longest time. this was a chick singing this song..

  • This song always makes me feel happy. (:

  • I thought that was a LADY sung this song too when I was smaller. I used to sing a long with him on a record player. Now I am older my voice is lower.

  • I Love this song! When I was a little girl I always thought a lady sang this song, Never the less Still love it!...lol

  • This is, hands down, one of the most beautiful, romantic, evocative songs I've ever heard. I mean, I was born in 84, so you'd think my music tastes would be more modern--and while I do enjoy the occasional techno song, my tastes run towards smooth jazz, blues and older, dazzling songs like this. Every time I listen to it, I have to close my eyes and imagine being caught in the rain with a beautiful girl...

  • @Reycied it is your comment has gotten me on this video and i cant stop listening to it!!!!!! :))

  • @thomashuggins On the contrary! Thank you for posting it! The pictures of lovers in the rain are awesome. ^__^

  • @Reycied thanks!! :))

  • If your from this time period & this song dont shed a tear, then u werent there..

  • the Jared LeVian Chocolate Diamond Jewelry commercial tune is very similar to this song, and i start humming "Laughter In The Rain" every time the commercial appears on TV. how weird is that?! i still remember this tune even after 37 years! thanks, Neil...thanks, Jared.

  • very soothing and romantic song, love to walking in the raining but i think not again haha, i might fall sick!

  • chimb aged 2

  • gay light faves of the 70's. does anyone have any fond memories of bathroom action when they hear this song?

  • @SuperBoneweaver Wellllllllll. Mile high club haha

  • I could hear this song over and over again.. love it ! Considering I was only 2 when this track was dropped..... and yes I too though it was a woman who sung this~

  • Awesome Neil sedaka song.and ultimately his best in my view.A great voice and a nice guy.I remember Pans people dancing to this on TOTP a great clip to see,and unfortunately not on Youtube..Anyway nice post. Benja:-)

  • I thought a woman sang this, and even suspected that neil sedaka's gay, but he doesn'thave a woman like voice in other songs so not anymore

  • Miles <3

  • We played this 45 over and over in Karen Peters's basement in 5th grade. She was my first girlfriend! This song always reminds me of her and growing up in Kansas. Where are you now Karen?

  • Nice!!!!

  • When a couple is in love the rain doesn't matter. We could be neck deep in mud and it still wouldn't matter. Something about real love that makes our brains shut out all of that but it is truly a feeling of bliss.

  • linda cancion

  • Deacon sings it in King Of Queens !!!!! :D his version is much better than the original xD

  • Such a smooth, graceful, flowing song. His voice is just gorgeous and the song offers so much more than the obvious.

  • was walking on the streets. with my girlfriend on my side.and its raining hard in Frisco, Q.C. soooooo nice.. 1970's

  • The first time I heard this I thought "Wow, this is a really sweet Elton John song." Guess who was wrong about who sang this amazing song?

  • Me and Chimb, her in my arms, me kissing her cheek, holding her. My beautiful daughter used to dance with her when she was 2

  • I remember kissing my first love at intersection in the middle of the night in the pouring rain.

  • busy signals do not help your cause

  • while all of my telephones have a busy signal. thanks for the update. busy.

  • the best can't beat sedaka. thanks for the memories

  • It doesn't get much better than this! This reminds me of simpler times, and it makes me feel younger. Thanks for posting this Beautiful song and super nice video! I'd love to be walking hand in hand with the one I love, but I don't have a love. If only....

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr thank you :)

  • I LOVE this song !!! I feel like this today and wanting some romance ;-) I think its time to put the raydar out to meet someone special... xx

  • When was Neil around? im not to sure on the years he was at large:P so when? anyone?

  • @mrsinky1836 most of his biggest hits came out in the 50's but this came out in 1974 and is glorious.

  • @homelesshannah50

I thought it was the 60s.

  • @mark85la11 it might have been that was a little before my time.

  • bello tema

  • Thus another reason why 70's music is amazing. Any type of music 80's to 30's, with the exception of few artists, will always the best.

  • This music is part of the soundtrack madeby my great love for me, she's beautiful I never fail to hear it because it makes me happy and my love, thank you po it posted here.

  • Rock & Roll HOF is a joke

  • Great memories with this song !

  • An umbrella of understanding.

Just want to go out alone in the rain.

Avec cette douce mélancolie qui s' attarde.

    Merci Neil. Guy Strasbourg France

  • This Song and the video are lovely. best wshes Carolina

  • old lovely song...nice to be inlove

  • How can anyone even thumbs down this song.. it is a perfect song!

  • I thought it was a woman that sang this

  • @heartofzorro same here!

  • @heartofzorro ditto. But who cares? A song as beautiful as this can be, and must be, sung by any sex. That's the beauty of this song, too. It doesn't take much to change, and you can let a woman sing it instead.

  • LISTEN PEOPLE This is what real talent sounds like

  • Interesting fact; When Billy Joel first played Movin' Out for his band, they told him it was to the tune of Laughter in the Rain. Embarrassed, he changed it to the one we know today.

  • 9 people are crying in the rain

  • Wait a second. This song is great but is this sung by a man?!

  • i'm on the 15th floor and it's raining buckets as i listen to this song... the sky is gray but i'm smiling. this is what i'd call life's simple pleasures. ^_^

  • Why can men and women not enjoy the frolicking fun that we see in this video without having to fuck it up with all the drama that ruins romance? Long-term commitments and marriages often do not produce happy endings. People get too busy with their jobs, and they no longer hear the laughter in the rain any longer. At that point, it only makes sense to go their separate ways, but then they bitch about the experience too much and stay bitter.

We must post ads for sharing laughter in the rain!

  • This beautiful oldie sure brings back memories to me. I was 10 when the song hit no.1 on the charts. Thanks for posting such a classic oldie. : )

  • Maaaan, this one brings back great mems.

I always took this song for granted, not so much listening to the words but just the tune. Now im 48, lol, it plants just nicely in my head.

Laughter in the rain - Truely a great song for a that someone special.

Another golden oldie to check out is 'Eloise' by Barry Ryan. Live version where the clip alternates between when he sang it as a young bloke and switches back on the stage to him singing the song - well done.

  • Neil sadaka is one of the very very few remaining artists that you can listen to over and over again, he is one of the best!!!

  • Sadly, you don't hear songs like this anymore. Pop music now is dominated by Disney actors making music for 14 year olds.

  • A strong candidate for the most wonderful love song ever written...

  • Memory Lane at its best. Reminds me of Friday night high school football, dances in the gym, fast muscle cars, parking out on dirt roads, 8 track tape players, halter tops, bell bottom pants, platform shoes, denim blue jean jackets, 70's rock & soul, cheer leaders at pep rallies, 50 cents per gallon gas, drive in movies, and a cute little freshman baby doll. FEEL FREE TO HELP ME ADD TO OUR GREAT 70'S TEEN YEARS. Go ahead and dream with me!
