Ok so the lowest usage of ram my computer had while idle was 838 and when i start browning and stuff it goes to like 1.1gb then when i play tf2 and stuff it goes right to 1.8 cuz i have 2gb. I record games with fraps and i wanna record in hd but it lags....can i improve frames with 4gb ram? Intel celeron dual 2.5ghz and ati hd radeon 4670 1gb...oh yeah btw i hav drivers installed and my gpu barley gets used...its mostly ram and like half the cpu...why? PL ANSWER WIll be happy :D

@Surveylol Buy the same RAM, check on crucial.com, they have a great app that checks the exact specs. SInce you have 2 slots open, I assume you have 2 that are already being used, for a total of 4. Depending on how much RAM your pc allows for you to upgrade to (6-8 GB max), you will be needing 2 more @ either 1GB each or 2GB each, for a total of 6 to 8 installed RAM.

say you have had 2gb of ram, and you put in a extra 4, its better to have 3x 2gb then 2 and a 4, but i dont know if this is true.

Otherwise look up your motherboard and find out its max memory capacity if its 4gb remove the 1gb ram. Also if you are using a 32bit Operating system or windows xp this can only utilize 4gb ram but i dont believe it would damage your system by leaving the ram in.

@MrRockaroundtheclock ...it could be a number of things. Go through a checklist. I'm no expert, but try running a disk clean-up, disk defrag, a virus scan (sometimes trojans make your computer move slower than molasses,) and try disconnecting and reconnecting your internet cable. Hope this helps!

@zelqifkuqi The old ram is suppose to stay in there. But the new ram next to it. "gently".Open the clips. Push one side in first and then the bottom side next. Make sure you have the short side and the long side perfect with the little moon-shape hole.

@littlefuzz4 The RAM may need to be replaced. They have to be the same frequency. So if you want a 1024Mb RAM, you will have to replace your 512Mb RAM.

you should be able 2 with no problem, but 2 things 1.you need to make sure its the same amount of ram say 1 gb as the one you have installed (so its a pair of 1 gbs) 2. if you have 4 slots next to each other for ram then you should put the new ram in the third slot (if your normal stick of ram is in the first slot) so its like this 0=empty I=ram I0I0.also make sure itsd the same type like ddr3 or ddr2 (it should say on the stick) and the same freqency like 1333mhz & 1633mhz
