A HTPC is a Home theather PC but normally its a windows machine inside a home theather case. I have 2 LG optical drives and i use one for watching blu ray and standard dvd movies and burn dvd's and the other one is to burn BD-R(E) disks.
On my pc i have 2 optical drives from LG. I must admit he's right about pioneer optical drives being the best but LG is also one of the best optical drives maker. i have the CH08LS10 BD-rom and DVD/CD burner combo drive and the BH08LS20 Blu ray burner from LG and they are awesome. I use my gaming pc as a HTPC. Check out my optical drives on my pc in my channel...
So if I bought this and played a blu ray disc on this on my comp, what would it use to play it?? and would the quality look better then a regular dvd on windows media player??
wait wait wait!!! what about compatible pc parts? ok i wanna know could i run blueray movies on this x24000 8800gt 2gbram vista 64 22"monitor 1680x1050 obviously not full hd
i've had this model for awhile now and love it love it! blu-ray flicks look crystal clear and the color is great. i couldn't get WinDVD to work right, but PowerDVD Ultra 8 works flawlessly.. and there's all kinds of enhancement goodies in the program for audio/video. although in while viewing Blu-Ray movies, there's not much do fiddle with cept audio if you wish.. since it uses hardware acceleration and looks beautiful anyway.
if i get this and i have a 9800 GX2 card will the movies come out good with my 17 inch Synchmaster 740n monitor or will i need to hook it up to my HDTV if so wich cable should i use to get the best quality?
Yeah, Pioneer can be quite expensive but I have had a DVD±RW DL from them for 4 years now and guess what? It still works. Of course I purchased this one.
guys dont waste cash on blu rays...download the bru ray movies via torrents..u'll get a .mkv file which is playable by vlc....etc...
U can do this at least till it becomes cheap

Yeah, but it won't be full Blu Ray quality though since it's a Rip.
humbert0acevedo 2 years ago
Yeah you can download blu ray but it is not going to be 100% the same quality as a blu ray movie you buy

Talking about blu-ray I think this video is HD rofl.
Sgtfluffball 3 years ago
Ok, so now they still have to come up with a good name for the format.
I'm not going around saying "I'm gunna burn a blu-ray.", "I got that movie on blu-ray.", "Here are all my blu-rays.".
What the heck, people will be thinking I'm talking about my laser-gun or something.
Or should I call it BR? Like DVD and CD and such... oh well...
