@RoxusAsakura12 As long as your Yamaha DGX-520 has midi 'IN', this won't be a problem. Just connect your midi cable into the 'Midi IN' socket on the Yamaha DGX-520, and then plug the other end of the cable into the KX5. Then you will be ready to rock!
Will a Yamaha KX5 be able to connect via midi to my yamaha portable grand DGX-520? I pretty lost on the whole thing since i just received the KX5 today
i have a kx5 and 4 (2 white 2 black) of my keys snapped at the hook that holds them to the board and counters the spring, anyone know where i can get some new keys :) nice vid btw.
I have a KX-5 and plugged it into the midi in on my Roland E-80 which has a Fantom X engine. But all it does it trigger the standard/general midi patches. Even when I choose a different (good ) patch via the E-80 the KX-5 triggers a standard, general midi patch. How did you set up your Fanthom to play the extended midi patches (kick ass guitar) via the KX-5?
KX5 is definitely the best looking remote MIDI keyboard controller. And it has all the pro features that every professional instrument should have like velocity and aftertouch. Too bad that they don't make these anymore. KX88 was very good to, by the way.
I have a black KX-5 that I have use with a M-Audio MidAir wireless midi for gigs. I also have an AX-1 Roland and there is no comparison as to controller placement. The new Roland A-X Synth (built in sounds) has some good features but still utilyzes the AX-1 style modulation bar, etc. My only complaint about the KX-5 is that it needs 1 more octave (have to push buttons to shift octaves) and that the midi control is archiac - Yamaha, if you are listening - PLEASE reissue an updated version!
It is quite heavy! It is mainly metal with a few plastic bits (Buttons and sides). I just put it on the weighing scales and it is 3-4 KG. TK is an amazing musician!!! But he has not been around lately???
Yeah, TK is good, though last time I recall he was having some financial problems and got into some legal issues. Daisuke Asakura, who produced TM Revolution, used this same keytar. Of course, he was influenced by and once played backup keys for TK's old band, TM Network (from which TMR's name is partially inspired).
if i had a keytar and a keyboard with built in speakers. all i'd need to do is connect my keytar to my keyboard with a midi cable and start playing. is that it?
that, is so cool!

Just to let everyone know. The Yamaha KX-5 does not contain any sounds, it is a midi controller (that is why it says connected to my roland fantom).
