incase anyone wanted to know what actually goes on here goes. a steel pipeline usually about 850mm wide and an inch thick is welded together on the beach the ends have a flange on then capped off the pipe is filled with air and floated out into position then anchored and sunk then you have flexible pipes that go to the surface of the sea the dredger sucks up with a sort of hoover arm 10,000tonnes of sand they do 2 discharges a day (one each high tide) thats about it :)
iv worked for the company who do the renurishment just got back from welding up a 1.2km pipeline in norfolk done lots up and down the east coast you only suck up whats already in the sea had a few shells and bombs from donna nook wash up thats why you see the RAF bomb squad around the time that they pump it up!
Hi mate, im unsure when they will next be there again they use a survey boat to measure the erosion as its not uniform one year could be a lot more than the other. also the sand moves alot from one beach to another its hard to say but ill guess they will be south end of skeggy next time. just a guess tho!
Just keep an eye on the material they are pumping onto the beach. If its anything like the replenishment at Southbourne (Bournemouth) then it will permanently ruin it for holidaymakers, with sharp stones, slints and shells. Razor sharp, and a steep beach profile.
This is a great vid. I think the regeneration of Mablethorpe is really important for East Lindsey & the East Coast. I hope it is returned to its former status as a great place to go.
i think if the council spend the money wisely it could shock a lot of people with the results, i know i love being by the sea here so lets keep our fingers crossed that its a jewel in the making
Maybe the council, should put some money towards a swimming pool. All the best.Former lifeguard & swimming teacher at the OASIS FUN POOL.bostin tune by the way.
The sand will just wash away again wasting all the tax payers money. Had a nice day in mablethorpe a month ago. We went to Monty's Fish & Chip shop "Nice ppl" But apart from that, there's nothing there. Used to go as a child every year and it was great, Funland was massive and the fair was pretty large too. it's a shame that Mablethorpe has lost the plot "BUT HEY" there's Sutton ON Sea next door.
Thats the whole idea of doing it every few years.,and just for your information mablethorpe is to receive a 50 million pound makeover from the council over the next 5 years so hopefully things should improve

i think most people are disapointed with the star and the people of mablethorpe should have been consulted before it was built

I hope it does because it's such a waste of a decent seaside resort. P.S. thank's for the reply.
