  • wow! well done for staying on and keep going with her! i know how you feel about the confidence part! you will get there with her! and looking at the lastest video you have already done it! well done! :)

  • just saw your new video of hooly, and looking at this one, youve done such a good job with her, so many people would have given up with a horse behaving as she did, good for you with not giving up xx

  • Waaa i went through the same thing a few months back - when i took a few nasty falls from my nappy one! I'm sure you'll get through it - Holly has a lot more to give! ;) x

  • bloody good job you can ride!

  • Bronia, the way you have rode this mare from the start has been pretty amazing. Everything you went through with your hip etc. hasn't slowed you down, Holly is a talented mare and she needs someone like you who will tell her when shes being a brat but also reward her when shes good. Dont give up, because she needs you :) x

  • Bronwinnnn, how are you doingg?

Hopee things look up for you soon as you really do deserve it after everything you've been through - she looks bloody difficult to ride and I think you do an amazing job just don't doubt yourself:) and please don't get hurt again! :( I can't even think what you've gone through - you're far too brave chuck xxxxx

  • @horsespirit123 freyyaaaa <3

    i'm ok thank youuuu

thank you chickk- don't you worry, i'll be fine! xxxxx

  • Stay strong Bronia, I too know exactly what you mean because my gelding (George) bucks everytime you take him to a field. It's scary, his bucks are massive and they unseat me every time.

You've come so far and done a bloody amazing job with Holly. Your so brave and you and Holly are going to be an amazing team once you solve her mareish attitude problem haha :)

We're all here for you 100%, you and Jasmine are my inspiration, don't give up :) Xxx

  • Bronia i really do feel for you, i know EXACTLY what your going through.. because my mare did exactly this. I think you know JD? and how she can buck! but when she doesnt want to do something she does exactly this, not the rearing, but the bucking on the spot and the piggyness.

I'm not going to tell you what to do with her because i dont know, every horse is different. But i do want you to know that i am here for you if you want someone to talk to about it, especially as ive been here beforex

  • I used to take a lunge rope with me wherever I went. When Mabs started pratting about when she was younger, even on a hack, I would find somewhere and just let her run and run and run in circles where she could bronc, rear, do whatever she wanted. After a few times, she realised that If she pratted about, she would just end up getting knackered, so she stopped. May be worth a try! Best of luck :) xx

  • I can understand where your coming from with the confidence crisis. I had surgery at the end of January and I couldnt ride for over 5 months. When I did get back in the saddle I was terrified. Even though I had missed riding so so much, I was absolutely terrified and my confidence hit rock bottom and I still havent got that confidence back yet.

But YOU are an amazing rider and you can pull through this. Take things slow and you'll be back on top form in no time.

  • @blueyescry thank you- yea, i had around 6 1/2 months off last year and then another 3 months later in the year- and i was never ever nervous or anything about getting back on, but this time round its a whole different story. x

  • aww broniaa:/ and just when you'd got her so good:/ i really feel for you but be positive and you know she can do it so work to get her back upp, you can do it, i have confidence <3 xxxxxxxx

  • Oh! I feel so sorry for you! Because she was looking SO good before she had the time off :( If you can't lunge her can you free-lunge her? Or do you think that probably wouldn't make her any better? My youngster used to nap and rear quite a bit- and I was always told to just keep pushing him forwards. If you trot is she still as naughty or is it just in walk? Good luck with her- don't give up! Xx

  • @PonyPantsCob yep- shes worse in trot!x

  • If it was me, i would ride her on a circle, not too tight just to keep her off balance, not as balanced as she would be going in a straight line and keep her moving forward, if the circle doesnt work try turning her face towards the fence so she has no where to go, and has to halt, and there fore stop misbehaving, hope this helps, she is a lovely mare and you are a talented rider, good luck! :)xx

  • @XxSparky2010xX yeaa- she still manages to be naughty on a circle and when facing a fence she does the same! :/ thanks for the advice.x

  • @willow4life07 ohh, well good luck, im sure you will over come this, you are sooo good on her :) xx

  • carry a stick, lay into her, she is taking the piss big time!!!

  • @raznsaz we have tried this- and it just aggrivates her, which is not what i need when my conidence is rock bottom, but i think i'm just going to have to man up!

  • i know you've had a massive confidence downfall. i struggled with my horse lots until my instructor came along & my instructor said everytime she bucks slag her on her bum with a whip and keep doing it until she stops then praise her with hands & voice. its worse to start with because obviously they respond to the whitp by bucking but it finally got through to her. i know all horses are different some respond better than others. it'd be worth a try. hope it helps xxx

  • DONT GIVE UP BRONIA, you are amazing and so is holly, you have all of us supporting you and we all know you'll get past this rough patch xxxx

  • if you find something to help with your confidence let me know, mine does exactly the same thing and she's scary now :( hope you get her sorted!x

  • I'm really no rearing, bronking expert i am afraid :( I had a horse that did it and it was so hard :( Best of luck i hope everything gets sorted x

  • she is such a gorgeous mare and you've done an amazing job with her so far :) i have no doubt that you two will get back to where you were and will become even better ...i really hope that she doesn't knock your confidence too much as you ride her amazingly well ...what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger and i honestly think that after this rough patch you two will be better than ever :D xxx

  • i saw a comment saying lunge before hand and ride with some1 lunging and I agree is she still dangerous with side reins on the lunge? if she is then if it was me if either get some help off of somebody else with her as it might be your nerves or to just swallow it all back take a deep breath n send her into a forward canter keep the canter for atleast 4 laps each way then bring her back to trot really work the trot for the same ammount each way the perhaps she will work better :) xx

  • @JTerryShowjumper yep- even if something like side reins she turns and double barrels me in the face! well, this is the weird thing- with NO one else is she naughty. and even on thursday when i was not nervous at all about getting on or anything- perfectly normal, she was the worst shes been :/

once we've had her back and saddle checked i'm just going to bite the bulllet and get on with it x

  • @willow4life07 strange little naughty mare, mares ey whod have them lol n good for you :D xx

  • i would definatly get her back and saddle checked, what a mare she really is haha! hope you get her sorted soon x

  • So sorry shes giving you such a hard time, you are an amazing rider to get back on a horse after your accident, let alone something as challenging as Holly, and get her jumping and going so well, you need to give yourself more credit bub, you have a lot of guts! And u ride her brilliantly! Can you lunge her before you ride? Or ride her with someone lunging her? :/ xx

  • @KVSeventing thankyou. i would lunge her, but at the moment shes more dangerous to lunge then she is to ride!x

  • I know how you feel with the confidence, I had a horse that threw me off almost every week. I injured my leg because of him, and I almost never wanted to ride again and every horse I do ride I think "he's going to bolt," like my old horse. I guess the biggest thing is to know at the end it'll get better. We ride because we love it, and everything is worth it all in the end. I wish you the best of luck, you are an amazing ride, I know you'll get your groove back soon! Stay strong.

  • well handled! i am sure she will be back to normal soon! keep your chin up xxx

  • You honestly ride sooo well especially as you had hip surgery! I think you're amazing (: <3

  • I love how you can have such low confidence and yet still ride her so well! Even after breaking your hip, you don't panic and yank on the reins or instantly give up, and I think that's amazingg:)

  • really feel for you, have been there myself!! softly softly catcha monkey tho!!!!!

  • you'll get back to where you were eventually :) she's being a right little bugger! good luck!

  • Really well done, was lovely to see you didnt get angry or use violence against her to get her to go forward! and very well sat xx

  • i know its hard cause freddie does this too, but i find it helps to sharply turn them in the other direction as soon as you feel she's about to rear/buck, this'll dis-engage her hind quarters and send her off balance so she won't be able to buck, and it also distracts her from doing it. xx

  • you handled her so well! Hope you get better soon ! and i hope holly gets back to her old self (6 weeks ago)

what happened with your hip ?:$

Good luck! and get better soon!

  • @valerieponygeek thank youuu

well, long story- but basically i broke my hip christmas 2009 falling off and had to have metal put in to put it back together- had that taken out last october, then had to have more surgery on it 6 weeks agox

  • @willow4life07

ouch that sounds very painfull , hope it'll be al better now!

  • all*

  • Awwk holly :/ hope she starts listening to you soon x

  • It's such a shame that you've both had to have that time off, just try to remember how good she had come for you when you had been working her every day, jumping at wales & west etc. There is no shame in getting someone else to ride her some of the time until you've healed. You've been through a lot and there's no point ruining your confidence and worrying about hurting yourself if you can avoid it. xxx

  • You really do deal with her well, but i can imagine how frustrating and worrying this must be for you, I hope things turn out well, best of luck to you xx

  • oooo she really is trying it on! Hang on in there chick, it will come together soon...we all have problems with our confidence like this at some point. Try and smile xxx

  • You handle her SO well! Really hope you feel better soon :] xx

  • Hope your ok and you deal with her amazingly and I'm sure you will get her through it :) Hope everything gets better, your a beautiful rider x

  • What is she fed on? some horses get buzzy of the strangest of things that aren't known to make a horse 'hot' but every horse is different.

Hope things get better, be safe! xx

  • @SarahTillyCharm she's on dengie hi fi with alfa a oil, conditing mix and bailey's outshine- exactly the same things shes been on for the last 4 months! thank youux

  • I missed this beautiful girl!
