Sometimes you can get that cilly thought that Tony Nadal is a mafioso who tells Fed to lose on purpose lol, not that it´s true i´ve just seen Fed seem to have Nadal under control many times where he end up losing! But that´s tennis, it´s a matter of winning the crusual points and being consistent.
he was unstoppable the whole week up to where he lead 5-1 1st set against rafa in the final, then after that he dipped down terribly (especially after going on to lose 6 games in a row to lose that 1st set 5-7). it was quite disappointing for his part - that would have destroyed his mentality to shreds. probably why he got crushed in that FO final a week later 1-6 3-6 0-6.
There will always be a debate to know who is the best between federer and nadal, because nadal became #1 because federer had mono, then federer became #1 because nadal was injured, and now nadal is #1 because federer isn't at his prime anymore (and had medical problem at wimbledon).
I think we should compare both of them at their prime, and it is obvious that nadal has never dominated tennis as federer did from 2004 to 2007 : in 4 years he won 11 grandslams, 40 titles. unbelievable
it appears that nadal can't handle fed at his best, even on clay. even his backhand seems impenetrable when it's on. such a shame that he just couldn't close out the sets this match (and in some other matches as well). at least fed got him back this yr on clay.

LoL you are a joke. What do you call Wimbledon 2008? Federer was not playing at his best? Nadal is just that much better than him that he couldn't close out those matches. LOL look at the win loss record between Federer and Nadal before talking
Of course Fed wasn't at his best Wimby 2008, you're a joke if you think so. He wasn't at his best the entire yr (mono) except for maybe the US open. Of course he didn't play badly during the wimby 08 final, but considering he had over 50 unforced errors that match, that obviously couldn't have been his best, although Nadal naturally makes it harder for Fed to play his best than against other players.
@dmx19999994 did you read my post? Fed had over 50 unforced errors that match, so that clearly wasn't his best since that is a boatload of errors. Of course, by no means did he play badly overall during the match. Full credit to Nadal for playing superb that day and deserving the win.
you're a prick ... an you know you are wrong ... so why bother posting stupid comments ?Federer is te best of all time ... he can take anyone anytime ...I bet he will even beat Nadal in the FO in 2010. Let's make a bet
HOW how how did Fed lose that final??? he should've owned it!!! i guess like Mats Wilander said earlier this year Fed is a better player but Nadal is a better competitor...
i konw it's a long shot but i really do hope that Federer will beat Nadal this year both in RG and Wimby. i think this vid proves he has the ability to beat Rafa on caly and any other surface, and his problem is purely mental.
well..true, but leading with 4-1, 3 breakpoints to 5-1..there shouldn't be any reason to be afraid of nadal. i guess the only reason why he fears nadal is the fact that he lost finals like that..meaning he leads in every set and then loses it. same at the AusOpen09 first set.
nadal is not the best player in the world, the highest ranked player yes, but theres many things that federer has done and will have that nadal will not. we hvent seen the best of rafa but federer will eventually win roland garros. federer needs to play in his comfort zone wen serving out sets, 5-1 up he will finish them off this year!
Wow, i look at the scoreboard and Fed's 5- 1 up, i look again and nadal's taken the set 7- 5. How does Federer manage to lose such a lead!? I understand Nadal's the best player in the world, but Fed's done this too many times against Nadal for him not to have a problem mentally.
yeah that is wat pisses me off when f every clay court masters series Federer is normally up by a break or 2 but cant win the set but i did notice nadal useing his trainer because he was losing
If Nadal is DOMINATING over Federer RIGHT NOW on all surfaces, sorry dude, but it almost IMPOSSIBLE Nadal looses to Federer on claycourt, especially RG 2009 if they both meet in the final.
I have some doubts about Nadal beating Federer on hardcourt even on grasscourt BUT NOT on claycourt.
that's terrible, the way he lost this match. i bet Roger would have played better if he was 5-1 and 4-1 down, not up. That hurts. Not only to him, the fans too.
too bad roger has mental meltdowns when playing rafa. but every player has his bad days (even the pros)... i hope he can turn this around and win roland garros at least once in his career. he can definitely do it.
Roger had 5-1 in the first set in own serve, Rafa broke back to 2-5, and then Rafa had a huuuuuge medical break, to later come back like nothing happened and to win 7 straight games, but I'm sure he was in lots of pain. ;)
I know what u mean, plus the "banana incident" against djokovic (RG 2007), anyway the fact is that he beats Federer and in the end is what really matters, and I'm a Fed fun so it hurts
Yeah its the surface. Hamburg plays pretty fast for a red clay surface. Conditions are a lot damper in Hamburg than in Rome/Monte Carlo/Rolland Garros where it is generally dry. However, clay is still clay and it seems that Hamburg is the only clay tournament where Federer actually thinks clearly about his tactics.. He should have won that final because he was up like 5-1 in the first set and 4-1 in the second. I thought he had a huge chance at Rolland Garros but I was wrong.
I heard that the clay is a bit heavier in Hamburg which would allow him to be more aggressive on more balls. Roland Garros' conditions change. If it's drier conditions then the ball kicks more which favor Nadal. It's not the same in Hamburg. The bounce usually isn't as crazy.
i don't know what happen with federer when he is winning against nadal ... maybe fear to the best clay player of all time?... if federer play like those points all the match the roland garros will be of him!!
what the fuck happened to the first set against nadal.....

@changmaster5 but still Federer in 08 is way better than the Federer now.. !
Hope he plays for 1 last time at that 06 level... just once!

And the win loss record is misleading, over half their matches have been on clay, Fed in fact has a winning record combining hard courts and grass.

he lost because nadal take many medical time outs and breaks federer's rythem....

yess, thats a big reason indeed, but also because fed fears nadal, it's a mental question.

With Roger, I found that he always looked just ... down, during the clay season especially in 2008. Was sad to see.
Hope he does better this year! Not that he could do a lot better, ie. reaching the finals of 3 clay events.

Roger Federer is on the way to win RG 2009
it would be a shame to loose once again
you remember he lost RG 2008 final
wimbledon 2008 final
an also AO 2009 final vs nadal
i think when he looses RG 2009
it would be better to stop playing tennis
so ne lusche -.-

i think it has something to do with the german atmosphere in Hamburg and also in Halle! Fed won 30+ consecutive matches in Germany until that final.
Such a shame that Hamburg isn`t an ATP Masters Event next year.Germany has no Masters Event then.
