A contrast to how Bond attempted to sniper Sanchez earlier in the film, he wouldn't see it coming nor know who killed him. I like how bond shows him the lighter and sanchez realises his motives before meeting a grisly end.
tim dalton my first bond film i watched when i was a kid,,, the bit i hated was when the guy got his head blown up in the air compressor chamber thingy... now i cant stop laughing
This movie received WAY too much unwarranted criticism. I personally think it's one of the best Bond movies of the series, as Dalton plays Bond exactly as Ian Fleming wrote him - a ruthless killer. Excellent all the way around, good gadgets, a Bond girl who has numerous abilities (and a 12 gauge shotgun), and a very serious performance by Bond. The difference between him and Roger Moore is that Moore never expected the audience to take Bond seriously, and Dalton wanted to change that.
@alexkrycek21, People fail to understand that when a movies series has been around for almost 40 years you have to switch up the formula a little from time to time, and Dalton was a great addition to the James bond series, I think after all the over the top movies from the Rodger Moore run, people just weren't ready for a more realistic and brutal version of Bond.
Some of the most amazing and hair raising stunt work I have ever seen done with the Kenworth W900 eighteen wheeler. Especially when the stunt driver drives the truck with the tanker attached, tilted on it's side. Very close to tipping over. Hard core shit, man.
Still think this is one of the best truck/car chase scenes ever put to film. No CGi, and all done for real using proper old school film making and stunt driving.
Only major gripe I have with the film is where Sanchez pressurises the barometric chamber then cuts the air line to make matey explode - just wouldn't happen but then it's a movie and movies have to entertain.
I really liked this scene and all, but it goes all screwy when Sanchez cuts the compressed air line. Air brakes on big trucks are defaulted to the on position. They require air pressure to keep them open so the wheels can move. So, if he cut the line, the truck would just sit there.
Obviously, this would make for poor action, and it's a movie so I should really just relax.
In the original Italian Job you can hear a street busker playing the main theme (Days Like These) as the Mini's drive by after they are escaping through the city.
there was, and may still be a way of achieving this if you were a very skilled driver. The back part of an unloaded truck is actually incredibly heavy if u apply enough acceleration on the back wheels then lift offf!
Actually, the back part of an unloaded truck is very light compared to the rest of the truck, and the back wheels will just spin. I am a truck driver by the way. Thank you for putting this up though!
Not to mention another giant unreality in the scene: you can just let go of the gas and shift gears for gradual engine braking. The driver had TONS of time to initiate that, and if you know HOW to drive a big rig (harder then most people think, as you know it ain't just a matter of knowing how to work a stick shift) you know how to use engine braking to help stop in an emergency.... such as airbrake failure.
My 2nd favourite Bond film, behind The Living Daylights. Very spooky place, the people killed in the bus accident, were actually nuns, the Tankers even when parked, would roll on their own accord, and then there the hand made of fire, in the explosion.
That Road that is used for the Tanker Truck Chase In Licence To Kill is Rumorosa in Mexicali plus the film crew were told by the locals it's a haunted piece of road load's of people have been killed in fatal road accidents & lost their lives.
I have seen Dr No, though. It's slightly more forgivable in that though, because it was done in the 60's.
On one of the commentary tracks on the LTK DVD, Carey Lowel says something about the scene where her and Bond escape from the bar-fight on a speed boat, was shot entirely in the studio! The reason being that, Cubby didn't see the point of going out and getting sea-sick for the sake of the shot...
Maybe he had similar reasons for these scenes here, but I don't see how :)
The Timothy Dalton movies were the only ones to be Rated a 15 right?

The most underated bond film ever. Compare this to Quantum of Solace where Bond also goes rogue and there is literally no contest.

If the badassery of Living Daylights didn't cut it, then License to Kill would have to really have to set the record.

Dalton's Bond was highly underrated. His movies were raw and brutal, and actually had some realism.
He was a good fit for the role.
WarriorBoy 2 years ago 19
I actually considered him more of a Shakespearian-like 007 with the movie's tone feeling more like a Death Wish-type film as opposed to a 007 film.
It's actually closer to the actual Ian Fleming character
