It's not a matter of morality. It is practicality. By having prostitution legal, the police can protect the women (or men), the workers profits can be taxed, they practice safe sex and have to get checked medically to make sure they do not have any diseases. If prostitution was illegal none of this would happen and people will still want to sell/buy sex anyway.

Here in the U.S. it is illegal and it is extremely rare to find prostitutes here.
