  • Matthew Crawley watches The Wire, WIN.

  • I always find these types of interviews very awkward, and I am sometimes embarrassed for the people asking questions!

  • "the Buccaneers" is also a wonderful mini series.

  • Glad I found this interview. Very entertaining. I can't get enough of DA!

  • Hugh Bonneville is so damn SEXY!

  • a great video. The exec. producer who works as a moderator is really annoying!

  • No sound! :-) It seems that the audio is not working for me. Anybody can help me? I don't understand...It's just with this one video ... :-(

  • Over-rated. If I hear kitchen maid "Daisy" lament her short-lived marriage AGAIN, I'm going to stop watching.

  • where the girl with the purple dress? My goodness! I need to finish season 2, but season one was awesome. upstairs down stairs was a zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. ZEN is the BOMB!

  • My Lord, your pants are tight.

  • I have to agree that the moderator needs to shut up. Otherwise the Q & A is awesome.

  • Since "Downton Abbey" is set in Yorkshire, I wonder if any of the actors are speaking with Yorkshire accents. I can't tell one English accent from another, though. God bless.

  • @cbalducc Many of the "downstairs" cast are in fact Yorkshire born, as the bios say. But most good actors can do regional accents.

  • The 'social intellectual' was put in his place quite nicely; "It's a TV show"

  • @SnowHarp Indeed. That was a great moment.

  • Occupy Downton!

  • @hamburgerhelperflick Just don't put me in the room where the dead Turk ended up! I think I might expire after a night with Lady Mary too, but there'd be a smile on my face tho :)

  • This show's storylines are VERY weak. It's as if it's written for fourteen year olds.

  • I hate to say it, but I didn't start watching this show on PBS but actually Netflix (a few weeks ago). I live in Canada but I'm actually American so whenever I'm visiting my mom, I check out Netflix on my iPhone there. I'm curious as to why it is not available on Netflix in Canada? I'm glad I was bored one day and just had to see what the show was all about. I had to buy the episodes on iTunes after watching the first episode and part of the second at my mom's...very addictive show.

  • I cannot understand the attraction of Brandon Coyle as John Bates who "Anna" finds irresistible. Coyle is only 48 years old! He looks over 60! His fat flabby face leaves me cold. Bad casting IMO! Other than that I love the show.

  • @lucycatism i agree me neither!

  • @lucycatism I agree he isn't the most attractive person on the show, but she was attracted to his personality, how moral he was.

  • @lucycatism I agree with you I can not understand this either. Otherwise, I like and love this series very much.

  • there's, definitely, something "weird" about Elizabeth's accent and I must say I love it!!!

  • @traker42 It seems that Elizabeth has lived in England for decades now. So her accent is a bit of mixture now.

  • No sound :(

  • I don't quite understand why they all became so shut when the man comes with that question at 33''. I mean, did it sound offensive? Dan answer's to it made it sounds like a really offensive question...

  • @stete I think it was out of place, and the person asking it sort of reeked of someone trying to sound more intelligent than the rest of the room.

  • I love Elizabeth McGovern! (A) her accent is gorgeous! <3

  • This moderator is really a drag on this Q & A. She's either too much of a fan of Downton Abbey, or too little of a professional to be able to effectively execute the duties of being a moderator. I don't know where she was picked from or why she was chosen for the job but certainly there had to have been a better option.

  • Fantastic show! Informative Q & A with the exception of the moderator (speaking too much) and the few "dumb it down' for the American pbs audience jokes - I'm a New Zealander and found that latter down right annoying! But alas....Downton Abbey is phenomenal!

  • Many thanks to Dan Stevens for owning that clown at 32:35.

  • @SyrenniaLestrange Daaamn, he did, too.

  • I'm in love with Joanne Froggatt!

  • Dan Stevens was in Detroit?!?!

  • thanks for this insightful video, however, coming from PBS, I must say that the production quality was not very good and the coughing just about blew my ears out.

  • I love Joanne Froggatt. downton abbey is great!!! :)

  • What exactly was that guy trying to ask at 33:08 ish?

  • @Bibbabble I think he's alluding to the Occupy Wall Street stuff now (hence the moderator's joke "Occupy Downton!"). He's asking if working on a show that portrays so much culture class disparity between the servants and the residents changed the actors' own political outlook on the disparity today. I think Dan Stevens was being a little mean. It was probably a valid enough question, but I agree that it's just a TV show. That's just how it was back then.

  • THE WINK.

  • @LikeMulderAndScully When? I must have missed that!

  • does anybody know what book Joanna is talking about? (14.35) thanks in advance

  • someone waste the two gimps at 31.30!!!!

  • Maggie Smith has about 90% of the most halirious and yet revealing one-liners. In fact, almost every scene with her has something good in it. Even if it is just her eyes or facial expressions, for a split second...

Cool, calculating, and unruffled Smith and the perpetually surprised and multi-tasking frumpy quirky chief cook --- chef, really, in today's world --- downstairs who are given most of the fun lines.

  • The mediator is really giving a lot away, isn't she?

  • Who couldn't like this! :0

  • Oh how nice Happy Birthday Michelle!

  • Dan watches The Wire!!!

and so funny, sometimes they can't understand american accents either :)

  • If Downton Abbey was a feature film it would win 9 Oscars and break box office records. It’s in the class of The Kings Speech. Beautifully filmed, directed, cast, costume design, script, sound, music, best actor and actress.

  • That's why they invented the guillotine!!! all hail Maggie Smith!

  • I wonder if the PBS people are aware that the right side of the audio track is missing. It makes it difficult to listen to it properly :(

I do love what I've seen so far, this cast and show are amazing :D

  • the mediator is quite annoying. why are some of the PBS wanna be's? let the creator and actors talk for goodness sake.

  • No mention of ITV?

  • I love Dan's voice ^^ he's so perfect! xD

Mary&Mattew the best couple ever ^^

  • @Carolmarquistaxd Yes I agree his voice is lovely.

  • Is it silent? Why can't I hear the voices?

  • Look at Michelle's little sly wink at 34:54

  • @iluvfriends4eva That was adorable. Love her! The cast in this is so great. Dan, Hugh...all of them!

  • This host is so awful.

  • i was looking for this video !! thank you very much for uploading it :)

  • Is anyone else having audio problems with just this? I cannot hear a thing!

  • @paddbear Yeah, same thing here. The volume on my laptop is at max. and I can still hardly hear anything. :(

  • @principessa1121

I can't hear the voices too.

  • Anybody who has read Pride and Prejudice knows what an entail is. Come on.

  • Truer words: ‎"Great storytelling is great storytelling. Great characters are great characters. And whether they are dealing crack or serving tea...if it's good you'll get into it."

  • My god, Elizabeth has one crazy transatlantic accent going on lol.

  • @holypotatoes01 I thought so too watching her during Downton and it is worse here. I think you pick up ways of speaking or accents where you live, but it is quite jaring.

  • @holypotatoes01 Yes you are right!!!! :O

  • @holypotatoes01 : I mean, SERIOUSLY. lol

  • @holypotatoes01 As well as a pretty good pair of legs.

  • @holypotatoes01 I love it!

  • Michelle Dockery is a very talented actress. She made Lady Mary my favorite character.

  • @TheDamnScientist I ♥♥♥ that girl too. See her when she is off set, she looks SO different!

  • Christmas special tomorrow!

  • Best moment was Elizabeth McGovern's imitation of her eminence

Maggi Smith: 'Now I know why they invented the guillotine'

    Best laugh of the video.

  • Very good questions. Not even "dumbed" down for an American such as myself ;)

  • gr8 video! but so less of Dan :(

  • "I never get bored of the bedroom!"

    "Not my night!"

    lololol

  • hahaha f yeah Maggie ;)

  • Thank you so much PBS for posting this wonderful, and insightful interview.
