@michiel2047 Because its the religious people that control most of our lives and could lead to our premature death, via war.
If all religious people were isolated so they could not harm us, then the pressure to talk about the religious illusion would be far less pressing. But they have guns, bombs, laws and holidays that control atheist lives. All we can do is say "Why?" every so often.
I was devoutly religious for 26 years. I'm an agnostic atheist, a computer programmer, and a student of logic today. I reject all theistic religions because of lack of evidence. We CAN be saved from the delusion. Not all of them are beyond hope...
@ScrewGlennBeck I'm an example of a religious loon who changed. Unfortunately it took a breakup between me and a wonderful atheist woman (science nerd, skeptical- brilliant) to make me realise the stupidity of it all. It might explain why I sound so bitter most of the time, it's justified bitterness too :P When you make some of the stupidest mistakes of your life because of a belief system which poisoned your mind, and later realise you can't undo that- it hurts BAD.
The problem is this if you talk to God you are Religious, if God talks to you you've probably already been diagnosed schizophrenic. Ratzinger looks like the Devil or one of his minions.
@2nDoppelganger You dont know anything about catholic priest if you say that you are just an ignorant who insulting people who are giving their lives for justice and truth. It is true although that there are priest who are stupid and mean but those are just a few compeared to the whole picture. But ovbiously no one pays attention to all those priest that are being killed for trying to help african families to scape from slavery or war
@homtyy I was raised in a Catholic school and I knew about 15 priests. They were all but one complete wastes of space. Also, aren't you forgetting the atheists who are putting their lives on the line too? I've been to Mexico several times on mission trips but I don't hear you applauding me.
@2nDoppelganger Well i dont believe you actually got to know really well those priest beacause a mean some of them mat have been that way but i hardly doubt all. I was raised a catholic too and i got to know several priest and all of them were just very good people in service of the community. Iam glad to hear that atheist are doing what you mentioned and i dont doubt about it. But you would understand how would it be if because of one bad atheist all of you were judged.
@homtyy You doubt I got to know them well? I got to know at least 4 of them very well, and 2 of them I knew extremely well. In fact I would go to his parents house with him and we would watch movies and have pizza nights. They were just like normal people. They were neither morally superior or inferior to other people. So if a priest does something wrong, they are not exempt from what they have done.
@homtyy Every single one of your comments assumes that people hate them for no reason. I know a lot of priests. Some of them I like a lot, and some of them I hate with passion. I don't hate or like any of them for no reason. They all give me reasons to hate or like them, just like regular people. Some of them are nice, funny, and down to earth. I like those. Others abuse their power and justify it. Those are the ones I hate. Stop making assumptions and generalizations.
@2nDoppelganger Yes so you just generalized because less than 1% of the priest were charged for breaking the law. And yes those fewer priest who broke the law by raping kids should be not only putt in prison but also should be excomulgated beacaused they did all the opposite of what a priest should do.
@homtyy So the fact that less than 1% of priests are accused of doing this means that I was wrong in judgment? No, there are still many priests who abuse their power to get what they want. I don't see your argument at all or where you are going with this.
This really applies to all theists (and can even be broadened to apply to all claims). They are either right or wrong; if they are wrong, they are either deceived, or deceivers.
He didn't really bring up the Saint-Lunatic-Liar trilemma in this? It's not good enough to prove that Christ is real, it's certainly not enough to prove that the Pope is more than a phony.
The Pope is a disgusting, vile, hateful, hate mongering asshole who has screwed the people of this world - especially gays, women and innocent children! His words and actions were directly responsible for the continued child raping by pedophile priests and the hatred against gays! And let's not forget the deaths they brought about in Africa where they would not allow people the one item that would stop the spread of AIDS, condoms!
I agree with everything you say but not in the way you say it. On one hand most people couldn't care less about how we express our opinions but then speaking that way just gives the opposition more to use against our argument.
@TheBlackmentos94 Sorry but I do not like to sugar coat anything. The truth is the truth. the pope is a monster who had perpetrated some of the worst crimes against humanity! Hitler is better know as a monster but any pope (BUT especially the last two) have manifested crimes against humanity that are beyond monstrous. I can only hope that he will eventually die and be replaced by someone a bit more sane!
@AmericanGayAtheist hes just an evil person, he flys 1st class to wave at the poor, kills babies with dogmatic amalgam of desert scribblings. everything about that frail little nazi prick makes my skin crawl
@AmericanGayAtheist - Look I know your gay, I don't hate you. But I understand that turning toward atheism to save your own conscience, because you can't go on in life believing you'll burn in the lake of fire after this life. I understand that. But try not to be so harsh on a holy man. Especially one that isn't guilty of anything. And just for laughs, I find it funny you bring up condoms and Aids in the same paragraph with disgusting. ;P
@xchargerOUx No, my sexual orientation did lead me to atheism at all! There are plenty of gays who are delusional and believe in a bearded "sky daddy". My awakening was a long process spread over two decades. I looked at the evidence for any form of "god" or "higher power"; there wasn't any! Not only did I not find any tangible "evidence" but I soon realized that the sciences of Abiogenesis, Evolution, Cosmology AND Quantum Physic demonstrated clearly that a "god" was totally unnecessary!
@AmericanGayAtheist (continued from above) These collective sciences along with Einstein's brilliant theory of both special AND general relativity allow for this universe we see around us. I would suggest you study these disciplines in depth in order to have the veil of self inflicted ignorance and unsustainable religious Dogma removed from you mind. Only then can you appreciate the "everything" that makes up what is!
not to stur anything up but the current pope grew up in Germany and in fact i live in the city were hes from and to my understanding he was a Hitlerskind.
@aminevich Becasue he has heard and answerd my prayres. He speaks to me through the Holy Spirit. I have had my prayers confirmed and I have seen people healed. Keep watching!
Check out the Borgia popes for some real entertainment. And then ask yourself, "If the pope has such a great relationship with his god and the rest of the human race why does he have to ride around in a bullet proof golf cart surrounded by body guards?"
@ExistingOnce - and yet he is not elected by his followers, just a very powerful and rich group of cardinals get to place their votes up the Vatican chimeny. NOT the poor Catholic Africans suffering AIDS.
my opinion of the pope is his a vile monster protecting the child molesters when they deserved to be punished. hes the worst of the worst. he can do ne action and still be seen as good b/c he has the title of pope. his follower r just as bad as he is. the catholic church needs to be taken down and their corruption exposed. the catholic church is all about controlling the masses and not 4 the good of mankind.
holy, special or vile?.. hmmmm.... perhaps he is special, as he is unique, he is holy, as is with the definition, and he is vile, for endorsing biblical viewpoints and not bringing forth the paedopriests. all three!
kim jong il has starved a whole country of millions of people so he can live like a rich american. the pope is just spreading evil disinformation on a mass scale
@thisscreensucks I don't think it was that much of an overstatement. The catholic church lives of people's donations, people in impoverished countries specially and gives almost nothing back. The pope lives in a palace while people starve and yet they still keep taking more. This misinformation he's spreading has given I don't know how many people a death sentence. And he cares more about the image of his organization than about ton of abused children.
@trajan74 You're right but unfortunately the muslims will have trebled in number killing all nations crushing all culture and possibly at war with whoever is left scattered throughout the countries they took over.
I think whether the Pope believes he can speak to God or not is irrelevant considering the scarier aspect of the Pope's title/power!!! He's allowed to HAVE this title due to the masses of people who DO believe that he does have a direct link to God!!! The power and luxury of the Vatican shows the extent of the sickness known as religion!
I know where the virus came from HAHAHA internet porn....
i'm not just saying this as in pulling it out of my ass I am saying this because one time on the show you were talking about Emails and how you have to skim through all of the russian lesbian porn (lol something like that i'm not sure if that's exactly what they said but it WAS porn none the less), and the only way that people get these porn spams is by going on porn sites... now you have a virus and it seems pretty obvious to me why....
@upplsuckinmcool116: You don't think it's more likely that angry Christians are spamming these guys with porn and viruses? Sounds far more reasonable to me, given that it doesn't assume that all atheists are addicted to porn.
Alternatively they got signed up for porn spam by theists who don't like them. Its hardly a new tactic, signing up people you don't like to receive annoying spam, not that I've done it myself.
@999York: There's no equating pedophiles with homosexuals; that's just bigoted. The problem is that Catholic priests are celibate and have a massive guilt-complex about sex; many eventually break down and vent their libido in perverted ways because, to them, all sex is perversion anyway. Children in the church's care are inevitable targets, because priests not only have power over them, but are also able to justify the notion that the "sinful" victim deserves it.
I heard a host on EWTN radio (I forget who, though) respond to why the RCC won't sell the Vatican or its art a month or two ago... they want to keep the art so people can see it for free and lead them to consider converting to Catholicism after seeing how "beautiful" the "truths" of the Church are. Nevermind that the majority of people in the world can't see the art for free anyway since it requires traveling to Vatican City to view. What a blatant admission of snake-oils men tactics.
Anyone who claims to "talk to God" seriously needs the help of a medical professional and get on some meds immediately. I'm not being facetious, I'm serious.
@ejdf870 that's nothing. I forget which video it was, one of the ones on my channel, but one lady told me Jesus actually visits her. She said that specifically. "Jesus actually visits me." When I asked if they had tea, she accused me of making fun of the Bible.
Perhaps if you made efforts to allow God in your life you wouldn't feel dead inside. Brian Welch is one example where he begged God who he didn't really know existed to give him life without drugs, and God responded in a paramount way.
Yes, It's like what Hitchens says. 'When a person who claims he's speaking to god, comes and sits next to you on the bus, do you move closer to him or far away?' laughter form the crowd follows.
@ejdf870 i agree, why is it that if you see someone praying to a unicorn or some random made up spirit or talking to themselves claiming they are talking to aliens or spirits they are deamed crazy and mentally il but its ok when religious people do it, nether of them ave proof of there god or thing they are talking to yet one is ok and the other is not
A theist may claim their sensibilities are shocked when i tell them what i think of their imaginary evil friend, or what i think of their willfull ignorance. But i simply dont care. Does the theist, by virtue of saying and doing nothing, cause more harm when his religious leaders edicts cause needless death and suffering? Do i care about a theists feelings when their dogmas cause death? You fucking evil immoral bastards.
@gallus1 Dogmas are incapable of causing death. An ideology cannot be blamed for the actions of human beings that make their choices fully cognizant of the consequences of their actions. Your words shift the blame onto the religion itself, which is disingenuous, since everyone knows that an ideology is wholly incapable of taking actions, as it is just a concept.
@BigUnicornTits ...what fatuous bullshit. What you're saying is that the world-view of someone has no bearing on their action. What unadulterated crap.
The Crusades had nothing to do with the ideology inculcated? Flying planes into tall buildings had nothing to do with the rewards offered to those willing to perpetrate the act?
Witch burning had nothing to do with relative biblical commands ?
@gallus1 No, what I'm saying is that whatever influence a worldview has, it is still up to the individual to make the choices and own them. To pretend otherwise is just a method of partial absolution for horrific acts. I find pinning blame on an ideology about as deplorable as I do Christians claiming that the Devil is responsible for their actions when they commit some sort of no-no.
@BigUnicornTits Not all evils originate from religion, but no human construct has been a successful vehicle for in-group\out-group hatred like religion.
You have to be a mental contortionist to pretend that the information that goes into a mind has nothing to do with the actions it issues.
Not only can ideologies induce hatred, they almost ALWAYS include a method of bestowing moral virtue to the heinous acts it promotes.
@gallus1 Any grouping is a useful device for fomenting hatred of those outside the group. As soon as you have an "us" and a "them" you have individuals who can only feel that "we" are good if "they" are bad, and if "they" are bad, then "they" are a threat, or perhaps undeserving of life, property, freedom, or something like that. Your problem is with human nature, not religion.
Certainly, we act on our information, but our actions are still our own.
@gallus1 Probably because I agreed with a portion of what you said, but not all of it. Or rather, I thought what you said was missing some pieces.
Let me translate the "white-noise" for you: your words are holding the ideology more accountable for actions than the actual person that commits the actions.
@gallus1 Human traits such as the ability to make choices for ourselves, such as the choice to embrace an ideology. If I were to found some sort of depraved murder cult tomorrow, and managed to get people to join with promises of some sort of afterlife reward, and then in keeping with the tenets of the murder cult, my followers went out and, well, murdered people, are they more or less responsible for their actions than the murder cult's ideology itself?
@BigUnicornTits As any court would inform you, the brainwashing the perpetrator was subjected to, induced the crime. Would that person have committed the crime without your indoctrination?...Nope.
Only the mentally sick actually do things without reason. Without the reason you gave that individual, the crime would not be committed.
@gallus1 Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm not talking about brainwashing anyone. I'm just talking about telling them my cult's tenets. No looped playing of central themes of the cult while the perpetrator is locked in a room and forced to listen, no threats on the perpetrators family's lives if he doesn't comply with the cult's demands. Basically, we're talking about fresh converts who just strongly believe in the religion. Analogous to say, newly converted Buddhists or something.
@BigUnicornTits You're getting ever more difficult to reach. What religious ideology is not a form of brainwashing?......even if an idea is true or moral, there is nothing controversial in the assertion its message is conveyed via an indoctrination of the mind. Christians have given up defending that proposition and instead call it by other names. Likewise, in your case which is rather more obviously immoral, it is the ideology that perverts the mind...brainwashing.
@gallus1 Most of them, actually. I mean, brainwashing is pretty heavy stuff. It's work-intensive and requires an investment of time and resources that just aren't feasible for most religions to make use of. Your indoctrination argument would make sense for say, people raised in a religion, or those who join it early in life, but it just doesn't fit well when applied to converts that arrive at whatever religion in later years.
@BigTit I give up.... U think that brainwashing is too work-intensive for religions to invest time in?
My God! (rhetorically speaking) Brainwashing is the one thing that religions have utilized as their top priority at ANY time thru history. Some people still think Oil is Saudi Arabia's main export....not nearly.....Any idea how many billions they've spent on exporting wahabi ideology to the West?.....U in fact, are their greatest weapon.. Get ye behind me theist...be gone!
@gallus1 Not what I said. I said it's not feasible for them to use it to get all their converts. Obviously, it's most effective on children, but just as obviously, it's less effective on adults, yet religions still get adult converts. Perhaps our definitions of brainwashing differ, though. I'd love to hear what you think constitutes it.
@gallus1 Additionally, I could rather easily make the argument that my cult would just appeal to the people who, deep down (or not so deep down, in some cases) want to kill people. Heck, I could make some sort of pitch about how our planet is overpopulated and that it is our moral imperative to save the planet by killing people. It wouldn't require brainwashing to get people to buy into that. I could even provide charts and diagrams that would back up my "point".
@BigUnicornTits Finally, human actions are governed by the information they learn\believe. It is that knowledge that leads them to do good things or bad things. The common people of Germany supported an evil ideology re Jews, not because Germans are intrinsicly bad, but because the ideology they'd been subject to was bad. For those Germans' still alive, what changed was their acceptance that their ideology was bad.
@gallus1 The "common people" of Germany actually had very mixed feelings regarding Jews. Some hated them, others felt bad for them, some ignored them, and still others tried to save them. Now, the common people that hated Jews did not do so because they were brainwashed into believing Jews were evil. They did so through an active acceptance of the Nazi propaganda.
@BigUnicornTits You've just said it yourself. " They did it thu acceptance of Nazi propaganda"
You support my argument when it suits....without blinking. 2 funny.
However..... Nazism did not invent german hatred of the Jew....Contempt for Jews has been rampant thru-out europe for 2000 years. Nazi ideology enhanced and took advantage of an extant enmity..... Generated, for the most part, from Roman Catholic Ideology. "The Jews killed God'
@gallus1 Yeah, as in, they chose to believe what they were told, and chose not to verify it, and then chose to act on the beliefs they had just accepted. And what you just said sort of made my point: it's not like the Nazis were doing anything new with Jew-hate. Also, you might not be aware of it, but not every German that hated Jews spent their time hunting them down. And yet, some did. What does this say for your theory that beliefs completely govern action?
@BigUnicornTits The purpose of brainwashing dear chap, is to take personal choice out of the equation...or make one think any prescibed choice IS yours.
The best propaganda is that which makes you think a goal is what YOU want.
You obviously dont see it, but your comment re those that hated Jews but didn't hunt them down is a non sequitur.
@desconocidos27 No dumbass, i dont care for their sensibilities.....i didnt say i didnt care about reminding them that their ignorance is no excuse for their delusions. I do care that they know that i for one and an increasing number of others will hold them responsible for their doctrinal harm. Unbelievers will be less likely to treat ignorant fools in the manner once preserved for atheists , but we'll think of something appropriate. No longer will hiding behind a myth allow evil to pervade.
@gallus1 calling me a dumb ass does not help your point, your fucking zero. you dont have to explain your shit to me, because idont give a fuck if you were to kill your family and today, you fucking cum stain

I was devoutly religious for 26 years. I'm an agnostic atheist, a computer programmer, and a student of logic today. I reject all theistic religions because of lack of evidence. We CAN be saved from the delusion. Not all of them are beyond hope...
Lowraith 11 months ago
@ScrewGlennBeck I'm an example of a religious loon who changed. Unfortunately it took a breakup between me and a wonderful atheist woman (science nerd, skeptical- brilliant) to make me realise the stupidity of it all. It might explain why I sound so bitter most of the time, it's justified bitterness too :P When you make some of the stupidest mistakes of your life because of a belief system which poisoned your mind, and later realise you can't undo that- it hurts BAD.

@2nDoppelganger You dont know anything about catholic priest if you say that you are just an ignorant who insulting people who are giving their lives for justice and truth. It is true although that there are priest who are stupid and mean but those are just a few compeared to the whole picture. But ovbiously no one pays attention to all those priest that are being killed for trying to help african families to scape from slavery or war
homtyy 1 year ago
@homtyy I was raised in a Catholic school and I knew about 15 priests. They were all but one complete wastes of space. Also, aren't you forgetting the atheists who are putting their lives on the line too? I've been to Mexico several times on mission trips but I don't hear you applauding me.
2nDoppelganger 1 year ago
@2nDoppelganger Well i dont believe you actually got to know really well those priest beacause a mean some of them mat have been that way but i hardly doubt all. I was raised a catholic too and i got to know several priest and all of them were just very good people in service of the community. Iam glad to hear that atheist are doing what you mentioned and i dont doubt about it. But you would understand how would it be if because of one bad atheist all of you were judged.
homtyy 1 year ago
@homtyy You doubt I got to know them well? I got to know at least 4 of them very well, and 2 of them I knew extremely well. In fact I would go to his parents house with him and we would watch movies and have pizza nights. They were just like normal people. They were neither morally superior or inferior to other people. So if a priest does something wrong, they are not exempt from what they have done.
2nDoppelganger 1 year ago
@2nDoppelganger Yes priest are normal people the only difference is that there is a whole bunch of people who hates them for no reason
homtyy 1 year ago
@homtyy Every single one of your comments assumes that people hate them for no reason. I know a lot of priests. Some of them I like a lot, and some of them I hate with passion. I don't hate or like any of them for no reason. They all give me reasons to hate or like them, just like regular people. Some of them are nice, funny, and down to earth. I like those. Others abuse their power and justify it. Those are the ones I hate. Stop making assumptions and generalizations.
2nDoppelganger 1 year ago
@2nDoppelganger Like you did on your first comment?
homtyy 1 year ago
@homtyy No. My first comment was based on all of the court cases against priests in the United States.
2nDoppelganger 1 year ago
@2nDoppelganger Yes so you just generalized because less than 1% of the priest were charged for breaking the law. And yes those fewer priest who broke the law by raping kids should be not only putt in prison but also should be excomulgated beacaused they did all the opposite of what a priest should do.
homtyy 1 year ago
@homtyy So the fact that less than 1% of priests are accused of doing this means that I was wrong in judgment? No, there are still many priests who abuse their power to get what they want. I don't see your argument at all or where you are going with this.

xchargerOUx 7 months ago
@xchargerOUx No, my sexual orientation did lead me to atheism at all! There are plenty of gays who are delusional and believe in a bearded "sky daddy". My awakening was a long process spread over two decades. I looked at the evidence for any form of "god" or "higher power"; there wasn't any! Not only did I not find any tangible "evidence" but I soon realized that the sciences of Abiogenesis, Evolution, Cosmology AND Quantum Physic demonstrated clearly that a "god" was totally unnecessary!
AmericanGayAtheist 7 months ago
@AmericanGayAtheist (continued from above) These collective sciences along with Einstein's brilliant theory of both special AND general relativity allow for this universe we see around us. not just homosexuals. but pedophiles to boot.
kingbane2 1 year ago 2
@999York: There's no equating pedophiles with homosexuals; that's just bigoted. The problem is that Catholic priests are celibate and have a massive guilt-complex about sex; many eventually break down and vent their libido in perverted ways because, to them, all sex is perversion anyway. Children in the church's care are inevitable targets, because priests not only have power over them, but are also able to justify the notion that the "sinful" victim deserves it.
JCLeSinge 1 year ago 2
I heard a host on EWTN radio (I forget who, though) respond to why the RCC won't sell the Vatican or its art a month or two ago... they want to keep the art so people can see it for free and lead them to consider converting to Catholicism after seeing how "beautiful" the "truths" of the Church are. Nevermind that the majority of people in the world can't see the art for free anyway since it requires traveling to Vatican City to view. What a blatant admission of snake-oils men tactics.

You fucking evil immoral bastards.
gallus1 2 years ago 37
@gallus1 Dogmas are incapable of causing death. An ideology cannot be blamed for the actions of human beings that make their choices fully cognizant of the consequences of their actions. Your words shift the blame onto the religion itself, which is disingenuous, since everyone knows that an ideology is wholly incapable of taking actions, as it is just a concept.
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@BigUnicornTits ...what fatuous bullshit. What you're saying is that the world-view of someone has no bearing on their action. What unadulterated crap.
The Crusades had nothing to do with the ideology inculcated? Flying planes into tall buildings had nothing to do with the rewards offered to those willing to perpetrate the act?
Witch burning had nothing to do with relative biblical commands ?
gallus1 1 year ago
@gallus1 No, what I'm saying is that whatever influence a worldview has, it is still up to the individual to make the choices and own them. To pretend otherwise is just a method of partial absolution for horrific acts. I find pinning blame on an ideology about as deplorable as I do Christians claiming that the Devil is responsible for their actions when they commit some sort of no-no.
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@BigUnicornTits ....Thats white noise to me.
gallus1 1 year ago
@BigUnicornTits Not all evils originate from religion, but no human construct has been a successful vehicle for in-group\out-group hatred like religion.
You have to be a mental contortionist to pretend that the information that goes into a mind has nothing to do with the actions it issues.
Not only can ideologies induce hatred, they almost ALWAYS include a method of bestowing moral virtue to the heinous acts it promotes.
gallus1 1 year ago
@gallus1 Any grouping is a useful device for fomenting hatred of those outside the group. As soon as you have an "us" and a "them" you have individuals who can only feel that "we" are good if "they" are bad, and if "they" are bad, then "they" are a threat, or perhaps undeserving of life, property, freedom, or something like that. Your problem is with human nature, not religion.
Certainly, we act on our information, but our actions are still our own.
Or they make not performing the acts a vice.
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@BigUnicornTits Again...White-noise. You start with agreement and end with dissent.
The difference between doing good versus bad is the ideologies that compel actions.
gallus1 1 year ago
@gallus1 Probably because I agreed with a portion of what you said, but not all of it. Or rather, I thought what you said was missing some pieces.
Let me translate the "white-noise" for you: your words are holding the ideology more accountable for actions than the actual person that commits the actions.
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@BigUnicornTits Thats right....the ideology is the main problem.
If you have an entity which is capable of good deeds AND bad deeds....then the critical factor is the ideology that drives that entity.
We are Human with human traits.... what we 'think' dictates action.
gallus1 1 year ago
@gallus1 Human traits such as the ability to make choices for ourselves, such as the choice to embrace an ideology. If I were to found some sort of depraved murder cult tomorrow, and managed to get people to join with promises of some sort of afterlife reward, and then in keeping with the tenets of the murder cult, my followers went out and, well, murdered people, are they more or less responsible for their actions than the murder cult's ideology itself?
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@BigUnicornTits As any court would inform you, the brainwashing the perpetrator was subjected to, induced the crime. Would that person have committed the crime without your indoctrination?...Nope.
Only the mentally sick actually do things without reason. Without the reason you gave that individual, the crime would not be committed.
gallus1 1 year ago
@gallus1 Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm not talking about brainwashing anyone. I'm just talking about telling them my cult's tenets. No looped playing of central themes of the cult while the perpetrator is locked in a room and forced to listen, no threats on the perpetrators family's lives if he doesn't comply with the cult's demands. Basically, we're talking about fresh converts who just strongly believe in the religion. Analogous to say, newly converted Buddhists or something.
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@BigUnicornTits You're getting ever more difficult to reach. What religious ideology is not a form of brainwashing?......even if an idea is true or moral, there is nothing controversial in the assertion its message is conveyed via an indoctrination of the mind. Christians have given up defending that proposition and instead call it by other names. Likewise, in your case which is rather more obviously immoral, it is the ideology that perverts the mind...brainwashing.
gallus1 1 year ago
@gallus1 Most of them, actually. I mean, brainwashing is pretty heavy stuff. It's work-intensive and requires an investment of time and resources that just aren't feasible for most religions to make use of. Your indoctrination argument would make sense for say, people raised in a religion, or those who join it early in life, but it just doesn't fit well when applied to converts that arrive at whatever religion in later years.
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@BigTit I give up.... U think that brainwashing is too work-intensive for religions to invest time in?
My God! (rhetorically speaking) Brainwashing is the one thing that religions have utilized as their top priority at ANY time thru history. Some people still think Oil is Saudi Arabia's main export....not nearly.....Any idea how many billions they've spent on exporting wahabi ideology to the West?.....U in fact, are their greatest weapon.. Get ye behind me theist...be gone!
gallus1 1 year ago
@gallus1 Not what I said. I said it's not feasible for them to use it to get all their converts. Obviously, it's most effective on children, but just as obviously, it's less effective on adults, yet religions still get adult converts. Perhaps our definitions of brainwashing differ, though. I'd love to hear what you think constitutes it.
P.S. I'm not a theist.
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@gallus1 Additionally, I could rather easily make the argument that my cult would just appeal to the people who, deep down (or not so deep down, in some cases) want to kill people. Heck, I could make some sort of pitch about how our planet is overpopulated and that it is our moral imperative to save the planet by killing people. It wouldn't require brainwashing to get people to buy into that. I could even provide charts and diagrams that would back up my "point".
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@BigUnicornTits Finally, human actions are governed by the information they learn\believe. It is that knowledge that leads them to do good things or bad things. The common people of Germany supported an evil ideology re Jews, not because Germans are intrinsicly bad, but because the ideology they'd been subject to was bad. For those Germans' still alive, what changed was their acceptance that their ideology was bad.
gallus1 1 year ago
@gallus1 The "common people" of Germany actually had very mixed feelings regarding Jews. Some hated them, others felt bad for them, some ignored them, and still others tried to save them. Now, the common people that hated Jews did not do so because they were brainwashed into believing Jews were evil. They did so through an active acceptance of the Nazi propaganda.
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@BigUnicornTits You've just said it yourself. " They did it thu acceptance of Nazi propaganda"
You support my argument when it suits....without blinking. 2 funny.
However..... Nazism did not invent german hatred of the Jew....Contempt for Jews has been rampant thru-out europe for 2000 years. Nazi ideology enhanced and took advantage of an extant enmity..... Generated, for the most part, from Roman Catholic Ideology. "The Jews killed God'
gallus1 1 year ago
@gallus1 Yeah, as in, they chose to believe what they were told, and chose not to verify it, and then chose to act on the beliefs they had just accepted. And what you just said sort of made my point: it's not like the Nazis were doing anything new with Jew-hate. Also, you might not be aware of it, but not every German that hated Jews spent their time hunting them down. And yet, some did. What does this say for your theory that beliefs completely govern action?
BigUnicornTits 1 year ago
@BigUnicornTits The purpose of brainwashing dear chap, is to take personal choice out of the equation...or make one think any prescibed choice IS yours.
The best propaganda is that which makes you think a goal is what YOU want.
You obviously dont see it, but your comment re those that hated Jews but didn't hunt them down is a non sequitur.
