@7125gjh I'd say that the Demon Drives just give more power overall. I personally felt that the Axis let me fly without necessarily losing control but I felt like it lacked the power I want at mid-fast tempos.
good work man, its good to see some ppl can still hit with power theses days at high tempos, unlike the newbs who just rely on triggers, and btw i know ur not using triggs in this video but when u do use them wut kind of speaker or amp do u use for them? and how much would one cost? thnx and killer drumming
Ive now noticed that alot of people are using Axis pedals with Pearl Eliminator beaters. If I ever get Axis pedals Im deffinetely putting my eliminator beaters on. =]
I have a question, I have an old Pearl standard double pedal, basically outdated piece of junk. If I were to get a good double pedal for under 400 bucks, what should I get?
Plus will getting a newer double pedal improve my speed overall? I think that the newer ones take less effort for each stroke and have all these customizations, but does it give you a fairly significant improvement?
my friend has axis, They were too expensive for me personally..so I stuck with iron cobras, had them almost 2 years...no problems, they are a solid pedal.
I'm guessing he's using the Axis Longboards. If you have about $700 for the double pedal, then be my guest and go for it.
They do help if you're looking to go REALLY fast. I'm talking even faster than this. There are quite a few people who use regular pedals and can go just as fast as he did.
You can always go with a DIY project and make your own pedals into longboards. I'm going to do it with mine, and post videos on youtube of how to do it. I'm going to use some wood for now, but it will likely break down after a while, so I will probably end up using metal of some sort.
yes they are wxpensive but worth every penny as for the demon drives those are way overpriced but then again so are the regular eliminators and they feel almost exactly the same.....sluggish
dude aazin.. and ur other vids are great.. could u do a foot cam one.. on both feet.. like the behind the scene of double bass view like with the fastest rolls u can do cuz ur amazingly fast itd be cool to see ur technique
its funny how people have videos posted on here saying theyre playing 100 bpms and shit and yours is honestly 230 and your playing faster than all them... thats real good for an improv good job
@nigelic Also even though I've already commented, Kollias is certainly very fast and his feet are flawless but he's quite sloppy in fills and blasting.
@nigelic Yeah he is bro, just listen to As He Creates, So He Destroys. The first damn blast in the song starts off late, audibly tails out in intensity and then he abruptly stops right before the fills, and the individual hits aren't overly consistent and don't particularly stand out in the mix.
You have to be both clean and accurate to hit those bpm with Axis pedals. I don't understand how people can play heel-up. Just doesn't feel right. YOU'RE JUST THAT GOOD, EH.
actually, i played flat for a while.. and when i started going heel up, it felt VERY wrong to me too.. my foot would spasm.. however, forcing yourself to play up does turn out to be more beneficial.. your stamina and strength will increase tremendously..
when i tried to go back to play flat, THAT felt very weird (my muscle felt strained quickly).. my assumption is that the muscles used for the respective techniques are very different, could possibly even hinder the other (to a degree)
so please explain to me how that is a "cheat" and not an improvement? thats like saying metal guitarists using pedals to distort their sound is a cheat. you're lame.
Triggers are helpful when you play extremely fast and the sound isn't very loud. It amplifies the sound and you can also get a distinct sound out of your kicks if you wanted to.
It isn't cheating in any way. Most drummers that use triggers, can hit the speeds they can with triggers, without them as well.
not being ass or anything just saying triggers dont make you footwork better they just make the sound a lil clearer which i could understand were you get that from though haha
i think thats cool u have no problem sayin that those faceless vids at retro werent perfect haha.
this is an exception for u because i kow u can play with no trigger at all....buuutttttt i hate the idea of e kits...cuz then u dont even have to hit a drum for it to go off....hell u could put a card board box in front of the beater and it would still work..
Very true man and you make a valid point. But what you must realize is that with E kits I dont have to muffle my kick to get perfect triggering. Which means my kick drum is naturally louder and feels better to play. The advantages are far superior to other triggers live, in the studio, as well as jamming. I use triggers strictly for metal, and with Ekits I can keep my kick un muffled and comfortably play other styles with more feel and presence. Its a great investment and drumming tool.
Great stuff man, it's nice to see an already good drummer improve even more. Your getting more and more consistent, and as always, you have some great fills/improvisations.
I'm using Axis E-Kits actually. Best way to go! With E-kits I can tune my drum low or high and not have to worry about trigger response. I tune my kick I'd say about medium. I use triggers mailnly at band practice, making videos and playing to CD's or a click. I predominately roll with acoustic drum sounds due to the fact I dont practice death metal I just like playing it in bands and such.
If you put E-kits on your axis, do they mess with the spring tensions or anything? because I know you have to put the little bronze hammer on there. Also, is the hammer position adjustable while the whole spring mechanism is on there?
Spring tension is about a 1/4" to 3/8" from being maxed out. I'm using pearl eliminator beaters, the beater distance is set back from the head about 8-9 inches give or take. The footboard heighth adjustment is just a fraction beneath dead center.
very nice work. I agree with TheBubbanaterlolz I'd like to see the footwork from some of those demos you did when you were with The Faceless. I'm hoping to get myself the axis long board double pedal here in a couple weeks. It looks like thats what you're using... Ive heard nothing but good about them.
