  • when it comes to pedals axis rapes all...hands down. demon drives are good but axis longboards are just insane

  • @7125gjh I'd say that the Demon Drives just give more power overall. I personally felt that the Axis let me fly without necessarily losing control but I felt like it lacked the power I want at mid-fast tempos.

  • @7125gjh I feel Trick pedals are a step above Axis, and the Demon Drives are an even competitor.

  • Axis, is in everyones mouth. (well the ones who drum of course)

  • Are you using axis pedals?

  • cool. i like it.

  • Very sloppy! Thumbs down

  • Your just need 2 bass drums thats all.

  • those are axis pedals. correct? long boards or what?

  • I love the straight blasts!

  • AAAAH I love what you do at 00:12, it sounds so fucking brutal to blast like: right kick/ride - left kick/snare

  • That beat at 00:57 sounded really nice, clean footwork!

  • since when do people feel the need to put down other drummers? just enjoy the video.

  • What this is 230 bpm!?!

Dude, for some reason it sounds slow but still killer.

  • why don't you try a one foot blast?? you sure have the speed!! :)

  • good work man, its good to see some ppl can still hit with power theses days at high tempos, unlike the newbs who just rely on triggers, and btw i know ur not using triggs in this video but when u do use them wut kind of speaker or amp do u use for them? and how much would one cost? thnx and killer drumming

  • is that sonor?

  • @MrJony81

    Axis Longboards.

  • Dude, when I owned axis pedals (i dont anymore, didnt like em), it ate the fuck oout of my socks lol

  • Haha. Socks. ;)

  • I wonder if Nick can go any faster?

  • envy.....

even if i had that sweet of a petal i couldn't have done that

    nice, very nice

  • AXIS ROCKS!! love this pedals!! have it too

  • nice beater distance

  • this is awesome man i love the sound of your snare by the way

  • @kontaminate no there big foot trick V about $750.00

  • no there clearly axis

  • No, they are definitely axis a longboards.

  • @trivium7098

No there are clearly axis! You can tell by the square bit below the beaters!

  • @xxxYugooxxx yeah definitely, I have them :))

  • @trivium7098 they're axis al2 you can tell by the way the spring is, on trick v1 they use compression springs so you can't see them.

  • Axxis A Longboards?

  • HES NOT USING HEEL-TOE

  • Sonor FTW

  • "Toe"

  • Heel to is gay anyways

  • @Addpyn09 you try doing it you tool

  • Your Gay

  • axis longboards ftw

  • Everybody, every question you need about is drums are on his profile.

His tension is a quarter inch from being full tension.

  • Ive now noticed that alot of people are using Axis pedals with Pearl Eliminator beaters. If I ever get Axis pedals Im deffinetely putting my eliminator beaters on. =]

  • how do you keep both beaters at perfect symmetry? are both pedals perfectly even?

  • i just wanna punch you right in the face your so good...

  • whats your spring tention like man?

  • @XxXMooieXxX Axis xl-2 longboards. heel toe man

  • @pwnzorz2 hes not using the heel-toe method

  • @pwnzorz2 they are al2s

  • @UKrocketeer are you sure? :o

  • @pwnzorz2 yeah, they are the A series

  • this is amazing. enough said.

  • ..Is this the price of beauty? lol.

  • Nick I have a question.

Is your spring tension high oder mid?

    Cheers Kev

  • Vegans who can't form a proper sentence are lame.

  • dude got owned.

  • haha

  • @blastbeatshaman hey man, I've got a question for ya...what spring tension do you have your pedals at? Thanks dudeman!

  • BURNED

  • shutup fag ive got poor quality on here and it looks similar to an eliminator

  • thats just the eliminator beaters duder!

  • @blastbeatshaman why switch the beaters? were they sonic hammers? if they were i understand

  • @blastbeatshaman

Did you change beaters because the Axis one we're too light ? It is better like that ?

  • @xGreen69x That's not an eliminator, that's an axis pedals with eliminator beaters.

  • what pedal is that

  • dont ask dumbs hit man. its obvious its an axis

  • one of my fav drummers :) nice pedals by the way!

  • From about 1:14, does it sound like he's screaming, or am I just messed up?

  • it did sound like he was screaming xD

  • @berko555 nah i think thats just the overtone of the ride

  • 230 is my barrier for now

  • yeah i thought mine was too, but i found out i played about 240-250 bpm ! I was pretty amazed!

  • Comment removed

  • no idea with those **th notes things xD

With like a simple rock rythm and the double bass going on 240-250

  • 64th notes

  • 32nd notes at 200? that's 16ths at 400bpm? im sry, but that fucking bullshit.

  • Well, I wouldn't know because I NEVER use a metronome.

  • then dont say you can play 32nd notes at 200 if you dont know. and believe me, you cant.

  • ya, no u cant

im sure you can play 200 with 16th notes witch is impressive as hell

    that's probably wut u mean

  • Yeah, you're right, I meant that.

I just have never used a metronome before, so I think it's a good idea to start, lol.

  • whenever i use a metronome i just get frustrated cause it shows me exactly how slow i am lol

  • Lol, man that must be humiliating!

  • @pongopanic me 2 man. i've been at 130 for a while and im still stuck haha.

  • axis A longboards

  • Nice drumming man.

I have a question, I have an old Pearl standard double pedal, basically outdated piece of junk. If I were to get a good double pedal for under 400 bucks, what should I get?

Plus will getting a newer double pedal improve my speed overall? I think that the newer ones take less effort for each stroke and have all these customizations, but does it give you a fairly significant improvement?

  • i had a set of axis and they broke quick. i've had pearl eliminator for about 2 years now and they work great. my favorite pedals.

  • my friend has axis, They were too expensive for me personally..so I stuck with iron cobras, had them almost 2 years...no problems, they are a solid pedal.

  • of course, axis i think

  • 0:57 to 1:06 sounded awesome! You`re an awesome drummer!

  • that was sick! really fast but also really musical which is a rare thing now days

  • You should cover the "Metal drum beat - Can you play this? Drum Kit From Hell!" video, because you could probably do it haha.

  • May i ask what bass pedals you use, if theyre easy to play, and anything that could help me get faster with double bass.??

  • They look like Axis. i cant tell if they're the A or X series though

  • they are A series

  • axis al2 longboards with vdl

  • A´s :)

  • I'm guessing he's using the Axis Longboards. If you have about $700 for the double pedal, then be my guest and go for it.

They do help if you're looking to go REALLY fast. I'm talking even faster than this. There are quite a few people who use regular pedals and can go just as fast as he did.

  • Yea, but my pedals are my dads old ones and are all rusted and shit. Haaa. Some regal prowlers or something?? But yea, theyre trash. Thanks btw

  • You can always go with a DIY project and make your own pedals into longboards. I'm going to do it with mine, and post videos on youtube of how to do it. I'm going to use some wood for now, but it will likely break down after a while, so I will probably end up using metal of some sort.

  • 700$????? maybe u should go do a price check buddy

  • Typo, I meant $600, but still, sort of expensive.

There is one of them for $500, but I heard the AL-2 is the best of them.

Also, the Pearl Eliminator Demon Drives are out, but they are $650.

  • yes they are wxpensive but worth every penny as for the demon drives those are way overpriced but then again so are the regular eliminators and they feel almost exactly the same.....sluggish

  • Fucking killer blasts man! Love the sound.

  • 0:58 to 1:06 sounded awesome!

  • dude aazin.. and ur other vids are great.. could u do a foot cam one.. on both feet.. like the behind the scene of double bass view like with the fastest rolls u can do cuz ur amazingly fast itd be cool to see ur technique

  • Always liked foot cam :)

  • its kinda fast haha go 280!

  • its funny how people have videos posted on here saying theyre playing 100 bpms and shit and yours is honestly 230 and your playing faster than all them... thats real good for an improv good job

  • Ive said it before, Nick Pierce is one of the best drummers of all time! up there with Hoglan in my opinion

  • @Esthorm true they are really good but kollias owns them both:)

  • @nigelic Also even though I've already commented, Kollias is certainly very fast and his feet are flawless but he's quite sloppy in fills and blasting.

  • @Steve128967 kollias is never sloppy on blasts and fills, in that area he is perfect

  • @nigelic Yeah he is bro, just listen to As He Creates, So He Destroys. The first damn blast in the song starts off late, audibly tails out in intensity and then he abruptly stops right before the fills, and the individual hits aren't overly consistent and don't particularly stand out in the mix.

  • @Steve128967 dude, no hes not, trust me i watch him more than anybody, he is perfect in his songs

  • @Esthorm Check out George Kollias. He's awesome too.

  • sounds like blackdahliamurder.

  • i wish i had your speed and your pedals =]

  • I wish i had his speed, his pedals, his kick, and generally his drum skills!

  • seriously all in time though

  • AXIS LONGBOARDS!

  • are those axis pedals?

  • yes

  • looks like the axis A longboard double pedal :)

but with other beaters.... seems like pearl beaters...

  • They're the Pearl Eliminator beaters.

  • Comment removed

  • You have to be both clean and accurate to hit those bpm with Axis pedals. I don't understand how people can play heel-up. Just doesn't feel right. YOU'RE JUST THAT GOOD, EH.

  • What do you mean? Playing heel up IS rigth, im not against heel n toe or flat foot, but heel up is like the rigth tecnique

  • I didn't say IT'S right. I said it's weird how people can play heels up. Just doesn't seem right (to me.)

"A book is worth more than a bomb any day."

  • Comment removed

  • funny because i think the same thing about heel down players.

  • nice kicks man but idk about 230 bpm. more like 200 bpm

  • i need my axis : )

  • crakhead u need to c tim yueng of divine heresy its the shit without triggers for real

  • Comment removed

  • they are not a cheat in any way. they are simply to clean up the sound that is muddled by high speeds.

  • Comment removed

  • so please explain to me how that is a "cheat" and not an improvement? thats like saying metal guitarists using pedals to distort their sound is a cheat. you're lame.

  • Comment removed

  • haha and please explain to us all how triggers speed drumming up...

learn stuff before you post shit

  • Triggers are helpful when you play extremely fast and the sound isn't very loud. It amplifies the sound and you can also get a distinct sound out of your kicks if you wanted to.

It isn't cheating in any way. Most drummers that use triggers, can hit the speeds they can with triggers, without them as well.

  • It really annoys me that I know that I will never master the double pedals like you do. That's godlike :)

  • never seen this kinda foot work without triggers before man, your insanely good

  • not being ass or anything just saying triggers dont make you footwork better they just make the sound a lil clearer which i could understand were you get that from though haha

  • can you separate those axis double pedals into two singles?

  • dude you've got talent

  • I do believe those are axis pedals

  • is that really 230bpm?

  • Comment removed

  • you pwn!

  • 0:57 to 1:10 hands down favourite

  • awesome! nice bass bursts during blasting, I never seen that done before

  • me neither...thats cool

  • ive seen it before but never that fast

    props.

  • Great job! I'd like to see faster doublebass for a longer peroid of time though. :)

  • what double pedal do you use?

    it looks like a longboard?

  • axis al2 longboards classic

  • How do you do it so fast! Jeese...

  • vibrate ur foot i guess lol

  • what axis' are those?

    xl-2's or what?

  • yeh al2 classic

  • dude, send me your legs!

  • lol

  • nick... send me a pair of Axis pedals if you decide to get rid of them.. jk

i always tell people foot work is just as important as hand work... this video proves promtoes that point.. nice grooves man

  • i always feel like im at least a decent metal drummer .... till i see vids like this one lol. guess i better go practice.

  • i think thats cool u have no problem sayin that those faceless vids at retro werent perfect haha.

this is an exception for u because i kow u can play with no trigger at all....buuutttttt i hate the idea of e kits...cuz then u dont even have to hit a drum for it to go off....hell u could put a card board box in front of the beater and it would still work..

  • Very true man and you make a valid point. But what you must realize is that with E kits I dont have to muffle my kick to get perfect triggering. Which means my kick drum is naturally louder and feels better to play. The advantages are far superior to other triggers live, in the studio, as well as jamming. I use triggers strictly for metal, and with Ekits I can keep my kick un muffled and comfortably play other styles with more feel and presence. Its a great investment and drumming tool.

  • word dude. those are some good points as well, i have to stuff my kick completely with like 6 pillows.....so that would be a plus.

  • Great stuff man, it's nice to see an already good drummer improve even more. Your getting more and more consistent, and as always, you have some great fills/improvisations.

  • ahh another question: you have one ddrum trigger in your bassdrum right? you have a low drumhead tension or medium?

    thanks for the help

  • I'm using Axis E-Kits actually. Best way to go! With E-kits I can tune my drum low or high and not have to worry about trigger response. I tune my kick I'd say about medium. I use triggers mailnly at band practice, making videos and playing to CD's or a click. I predominately roll with acoustic drum sounds due to the fact I dont practice death metal I just like playing it in bands and such.

  • but you dont have problems with the ekits in a double pedal?

  • If you put E-kits on your axis, do they mess with the spring tensions or anything? because I know you have to put the little bronze hammer on there. Also, is the hammer position adjustable while the whole spring mechanism is on there?

  • just bought the E kits for my two axis single pedals, and nothing is wrong with the tension.

  • ohh thankss, are you using toe risers? it the A longboard or X Longboard?

thanks i have the same beaters

  • your the best drummer ever man!

  • can you tell me your axis settings?

  • Spring tension is about a 1/4" to 3/8" from being maxed out. I'm using pearl eliminator beaters, the beater distance is set back from the head about 8-9 inches give or take. The footboard heighth adjustment is just a fraction beneath dead center.

  • awesome your improvs are cool to listen to

  • very nice work. I agree with TheBubbanaterlolz I'd like to see the footwork from some of those demos you did when you were with The Faceless. I'm hoping to get myself the axis long board double pedal here in a couple weeks. It looks like thats what you're using... Ive heard nothing but good about them.
