Look at how many bad calls, missed plays, and missed goals we have had. Now we dont complain if its the first game of the season, But if we are in overtime and some one (Hull you douche) gets a "Goal" that was illegal and we lose the Stanley Cup because of it, were going to complain. Or a goal threw the side of the net. Or a ref NOT calling a penilty on a player who slashs a guy in the head.
i hate these warm weather cities that no one cares about there hockey teams until there in the playoffs you can go to tampabay or carolina and no one will be there the stadiums half empty thats why cities like buffalo should win not these fucking cities that really dnt give a shit about hockey
re: the Sabres are the reason the NHLhas a better replay system - spooninspoon
um shut the fuck upand learn what you are talking about mate. The NHL has had a decent video call system since the mid-nineties, the rule states that if an attacking player takes a shot which rebounds straight to him, it does NOT count as a change in posession it is the attacking players puck for him to do with as he wills regardless of his foot being in the crease as he entered it LEGALLY you lost cuz your SHIT!!!
Brett Hull "you get what you deserve" yeah because you deserved to win the cup over a goal that was considered illegal in the refs manuals that season ... What a douche
hull ur an an arrogant piece of shit. you look pretty brave behind those cameras why dont you come out to Buffalo and start tellin everyone that we got what we deserved. everyone says that Sabres fans are living in the past. but no one says anythin about how hull brags about it. tell him to stop living in the past.
Brett Hull's goal was fine. The Stars were up 3 to 2 in that series, that game would have only tied the series and the Stars would have probably still won the cup. After all who went to the finals the very next year? Wasn't the Sabres it was the Stars. The Sabres were an 8th seed and got swept.
I will say Hull is a douche, and that's coming from a Stars fan. He has a massive ego, but he was a great player which is typical.
But hey, at least the Sabres made the playoffs this year.
Typical Buffalo, pissing and fucking moaning about how they think they're the only city in professional sports that gets fucked over. Just keep beating that dead horse from dust to ressurection because it still isn't going to change a damn thing.
ok I am sorry that Buffalo never gets a break in almost any sport. But you can't be saying good goals aren't goals. Theres no controversey to it, the goal was good
@chewbacca2222 Sorry but that was completely Dallas' year, compare the two rosters. So was the next year but we lost to the Devils. Notice how I'm not complaining?
@selfaccountable your right if that goal happened today it would be a good goal however in 99 the rules were different which definitely should have taken that goal and the cup away from the stars
Bill Clement is a douchebag to try and discredit his peer on the air live.... plus the face that it was a good goal anyways.... what a dick. Clement even said it was a GOOD GOAL right after he and Gary Thorne initially questioned it - and were reminded of the possession rule by league officials who REVIEWED the play.
if everyone saw the replay from a birds eye view, i think we all would agree that it shouldn't have been a goal but thats not hull's fault, what is going to do? he is not going to say that its no goal and stop his team from winning the cup. Im a sabre fan and im pissed that they allowed it but its not hull's fault
@menechella9 he deflected on goal which gave him possesion in the crease..everyone says its no goal becuase his foot was there but he had possesion so it didnt matter.
i never really get why people complain about hull. the NHL said it was a good goal. regardless of if it was a mistake or not he just did his job and scored a goal.
bigred224forever is right. They called it all year long without fail.Every team in the league had goals dis-allowed that year because of the crease rule. Then all of the sudden they give that goal to the stars. That was the worst thing I have ever seen in hockey.Fuck you Brett Hull !!!
@iamstupid32 he was in the crease in 99 and knows it.............the rules said out of the crease and they called it all year without question until that moment!
@wvufanngarner IDK you the knew what the rule was but it stated "A goal shall be disallowed if any part of the opposing players body is in the crease" now go back and look at any video about the "GWG" and you can watch Hull's Skate clearly in the crease.......so if they actually followed the rules for that time period SKATE IN CREASE = NO MOTHER FUCKING GOAL !!!!!
@iamstupid32 I know what the rule was man. Your 100% right it should have been dis-allowed, I agree. I actually was pulling for Buffalo in this series. Fact is, I'm a transplant from up north to NC, I'm STH for the Canes. Never was a Hockey fan 1st like I am now (here anyway). But Buffalo fan in my eyes was always a great vocal fan, pulled hard for their team, do or die. But in 06 in the ECF's. The Sabre fan I got to know was insufferable and that's the way I'll always remember them now.
@iamstupid32 If he has possesion of the puck then its a goal..he cleary deflected the puck on goal which gives him possesion of the puck in the crease. He didnt enter then get the puck..he deflected it becuase it was a shot on goal then scored on it..
@MartyTurco093 it doesnt matter if it was deflected or not (which is wasnt) his foot was in the goal crease and in 1999 the rule is that if any player of the opposing team was in the crease when a puck when in the net the goal should be disallowed...not saying the sabres would have won the cup or even that game but dallas won on BS
@iamstupid32 If you watch the video of the goal explanation..its on Youtube..and its actuall footage of the stanley cup right after it was one and they explained how in the rule book you can be in the crease if you enter with poossesion
@iamstupid32 dude really, read all th rules first, Dallas never lost possession of the puck brett could have tap danced all he wanted to in the crease as long as the puck entered in there possession which it did and stayed in the entire time, deflections dont change it the goalie has to actually obtain possession which he did not.
Not to mention, Yzerman, Shanahan and Lidstrom all took paycuts to bring Hull to Detroit when Dllas made the mistake of not giving him the 2 year deal he wanted. What does that tell you ? He did everything for Detroit. He scored, he brought charisma, he killed penalties, power play, you name it. He rounded his game out with Dallas and proved he can play any style. He's a winner.
if that dallas stars team was so bad and didn't deserve the cup from buffalo, how come the team was able to fight back to west conf. champs the following year?
WOW. i used to have lots a respect for bill clement. i mean i didnt know much about him, but nhl 99 when i was six for nintendo 64 made me think bill clement when i thought hockey. very classless.
Check out Hull's career stats. Over half his points are from assists. In his "golden years," yeah, he was a goal machine, but as he grew older, he rounded out his game a lot, and became a much more complete player. Hell, you NEVER saw #16 out on a penalty kill in his big years, but you sure did later in his career. He was a lot like Yzerman in that respect.
Hull has fat men sit on his face everyday from 4:50pm to 4:50am. One time he even had poop on the tip of his nose when he left the house. He blogs about it all over the net. eh
Anyone who uses the typical Hull insults like he's arrogant, he sucks and couldnt make team Canada so he whined and played for the States, is a moron. That was back in 85, first of all, when he wasnt the Brett Hull yet that we all know. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team by the way. Not to mention, Team Canada wanted Hull for the 91 Canada Cup, when guys like Yzerman,Francis,Sakic, and Oates were cut. But Hull chose LOYALTY and played for the States.
As a Sabres fan I just want that game to be forgotten... You can look at it this way though, the Sabres are the reason the NHL has a better replay system
@spooninspoon lol u no there not, replay was around in the nhl before that game its just more open now, the only thing that that game did was teach ppl the rules better, from the original six up until that year after that goal everything that happenned that night ( or at least the goal) was legal, people on the losing side just like to bend what the rule was to try and sya it wasnt. Im not a fan of winning a crappy way but the rules at the time say it was a good goal.
@NiskyFan1 I'm a stars fan but Hull was an awful GM...loses Hagman to sign Avery...All the guy ever knew how to do was shoot a puck. Without Modano or the Epic Flames feeding him he just wouldn't have been as good.
Anyhow, the goal counted because the puck was still considered in Hull's "Possession" since it was a live rebound that he controlled with his skate. I know it's stupid, but there were many "no goals" for the same reasons.
@fattycheeks lmfao!..wow that is top 5 funniest things i have ever heard in my life..i love it...the only thing to make that better would be for during his funeral..a fire broke out and everyone was trapped inside and died..
@larrylangdon14 Well the guy spent most of his life in the states...and he could have made team Canada are you kidding? He'd made it when Sakic/Yzerman and many of those guys got cut.
I know he was in the States most of his life, but he tried out for Team Canada and they cut him so he whined about it to daddy Bobby and joined the much less talented Team USA.
The only reason Canada lost in Nagano was because they didn't put Wayne Gretzky in the shootout against Dominik Hasek.
Really? Man I'd never cut Hull - I don't like the guy but he's like Heatley...he just scores goals. And you can have a team full of character players, or you can have some character, and some guys who ONLY know how to shoot a puck, and often the latter is better.
Hull is nothing like Heatley, Dany Heatley is a goal scorer AND a playmaker. Brett Hull was a puck hog just like every Russian (except Malkin.) Go look up Hull's career stats, his assists are low for someone who is a "Star Player".
I don't know about one thing, Heatley being a playmaker - Anyone can wrack up assists with Thorton and Marleau going to the net, and Alfredson and Spezza weren't exactly awful ever. I'll admit I do NOT like Hull. But in his prime he was gold. And he wasn't a puck hog - the second he got a pass he'd shoot. But what do I know, I'm a Leafs fan cheering for a failing team, that loses Kubina, Antropov, 2 first round picks, and they have Beauchemin and Komisarek to show for it ughhhh.
Look man, I'm sorry if I sound like an ass. Let's agree to disagree.
However, I 90% agree with you on the Leafs. I am also a major Leafs fan and can't believe everything they have given up and nothing to show for it except for Francois Beauchemin, who I think is very good. I'll love Toronto until I'm dead, but they need to do something soon.
At least we aren't fair-weather fans...It's a pain, because I like Kulemin, Hagman, Grabovski, and Stajan's from my hometown...But to give away Steen, Boyes, Coliacovo, Wellwood, Rask...damn...if Burke is thinking of rebuilding his Ducks he's going to need a Selanne!
@larrylangdon14 Youre right Hull is nothing like Heatley. He's better than Heatley.Check your facts.Heatley also has more goals than assists.I dont know why having more goals is a bad thing anyways.Even Bobby Hull and Bossy can claim that stat.Fact is,Hull could put the puck in the net almost anytime he wanted.Who wouldnt want that ? Go check who he played with in St.L besides Oates for 2 years.Remarkable he put up the numbers he did.And btw Canada asked him to play for them in the 91 Canada Cup.
@larrylangdon14 Team Canada wanted him to play for them in the 1991 Canada Cup but Hull said no. They wanted him over guys like Oates,Francis, and Sakic. Bet you didnt know about that did ya ? Hull never "whined" about not being able to play for Canada that first time. He was just offered a spot by the States and he accepted. He has dual citizenship. He grew up in both countries. He coulda made any Team Canada thoughout his career once he got going.

He coulda made any Team Canada thoughout his career once he got going.

its not that they wouldnt want him, maybe they thought someone else was better qualified, canada is always stacked.
