Overall not a bad video but this method involves way too much handling of the film .... also if you nip the corners off the film after you cut the leader off, it makes threading it onto the reel easier...
Thankyou sooooo much!! Our teacher taught us how to do it for the AS photography but he just told us the procedure and when we went to the darkroom, we had to clue whatsoever how to do it! This vid has helped!! :D
That is true, what the instructor says do not touch the film or the negative of the same finger, and we could have problems when developing. Now I do not understand well is how to perform this process within the black bag that simulates the photographic darkroom.

In another video here, the instructor says to not touch the film. You got your hands and fingers and thumbs all over it will ruin the film once its developed. Don't touch your film.
Thank you so much for this video. I have to teach this tomorrow with no knowledge of the subject, until I came across your video. It's very clear, informative and interesting. Keep up the good work.
Excellent video! The only thing I would suggest is that it's better to just leave the film on the cartridge spool as you wind it onto the developing reel. That way there's less chance of it getting tangled and scratched. I only cut it off the spool when I have it almost completely on the reel.
Having been considering going into film photography (have only done digital as a hobby) for fun, these videos cleared up alot of questions that I had regarding the process. Very helpful! Thanks!
wait so do u HAVE to cut the leader off before u reel it on? because i never do and the negatives always get stuck halfway through the reeling...

How sensitive is the undeveloped negative to fingerprints and such?

I'm still new to all this but developing 35mm film for motion pictures is exactly the same process, correct?

squiiiid. you cut the end of the film after its been loaded on to the reel... so you dont bend or crease the film.
