only 1:44 minutes, not enough at all and This is a piece of art and reminds me Somalia in 1980s (good day) and the current problems in that country. Also Omar dhuule Ali, a Somali lengend and great oud player....thank you very much for the upload
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
its because the earliest Somali music students received their classical training in Sudan. This is why there are lot of similarities between the two, not to mention the similar cultural and regional nuances
What a load of bullshit Waranle the first oud player in Somalia way before this centruy and the like of Xudeydi the master in Somali Oud music were reer Cadmeed i.e. living in Aden Yemen. If you think the once and twice appearence of a Somali artist playin in Sudan in 80's somehow makes somali classical music to originate from Sudan then you dont know shit about Somali music. PS this song was from the Heelo a track from Somali oud player (RIP) Omar Dhuule
gonna start oud class in mid january, it's gonna be great. You should really check out my version of white summer, it's a song inspired by this kind of music, but on electric guitar, very interesting
That isn't what I meant. What I was asking is if this Oud was an Egyptian style one. There are different variations on how the Oud is made...for example, the Turkish Oud is different than the Egyptian Oud.
I wanted to know if this particular Oud was an Egyptian style one.
Simply Magnificent, The more I listen to this piece, the more I am at ease with life and with all of its challenges for some reason. Simply Awesome! Many thanks to the person who uploaded this clip. Hope you add more of this.
You're right there are strong similarities. Don't know why people gave you thumbs down for saying this. Hamza El Din actually spent time as a professor at a Japanese university revealing similarities between a Japanese lute instrument and the Oud.
I don't understand the thumb either but doesn't matter:) I believe this is original Nubian music, because I also heard some musicsimilar to "eastern style" from Somalia and South Africa. What I guess is those similarities maybe suggest some mystic ancient connections of the people over the earth, Asians also came from Africa.
I'm surprised you'd say that, few so-called Asians would admit to such a thing. Though if you spend timea among the Dinka or Twa in east and central Africa you'll see strong cultural, linguistic, and even physical similarities. And Nubian languages as well as other African languages are tonal, similar to Chinese in that regard.
What Timothas2008 was saying was the "out of africa theory is a fasle lie perpetrated by an atheist dominated system" ie Human did NOT evolve from apes thet were created with Intelligent design>
This video is an example of the beauty of pentatonic scale. Within Africa the pentatonic scale is used in Sudan, Ethiopia, Eriteria and somalia. within the far east the pentatonic scale is used in India, Pakistan, Japan, Mangolia and china.
in Music science, A pentatonic scale is a musical scale with five pitches per octave in contrast to an heptatonic (seven note) scale such as the major scale.
Okay, really....was that necessary??? Why do all you youtubers do this? There is a man playing some beautiful music above and the conversations have completely diverted away from the subject matter. And then you want to revert toracial slurs? Even if you are black, that's still childish for someone that Im sure is otherwise and intelligent person. Shame on you.
the origin may be in babylonia/arabia. but there were other instruments that are to see like the father of the arabian oud, that came from persia and also china.
later the oud made its journey from arabia to the mediterranian countries, middle east, north africa and europe.
yes I am agree with you 100% but I dont think that we used this in china but in JAPAN the arabics and the japanese are the same and also the turkish and the persian, but not the jewish lololol
The oud did not make its way from the far east. It originated around the fertile crescent back in biblical times. Legend has it that it was created by Adam's 6th grandson.
It made its way to China on the silk road and to Europe when treasures were taken during the Crusades.
this video proves that oud is the best instrument in the world.....from greece across to turkey further to persia arabia and africa...just the most emotional expressing instrument that ever have been invented by humans! respect to the somali musician and the songwriter....
The melody is so melancholy but when the children are shown, one feels like, hey "A loaf of bread, a jug of....whatever!" The simple life, right? Love it!!!! Keep playing for the children; they'll remember you with fondness & joy all their lives !! Thank you!!!!
it is the same tuning as the arabic tuning ... it is just the scale that is different ... I think it is called the pentatonic scale. it is similar to Major scale (Ajam maqam) but with some notes skipped (namely F/Fa B/Si)
Hi to all, and many thanks to YOUBOOB83 for posting this.
I just want to shed some light on this song, its a Sudanese song by the famous Abdelkareem Alkabli its called " a'3la mi 3ainaia, drearer than my eyes " composed and sang by him. I don't know who the singer on the video but judging by the surroundings it can be somewhere in South Egypt or Northeren Sudan.
Very good oud techniques and smooth plectrum moves.
Really beautiful music. I hear overtones of Irish and Appalachian melodies in here.
