I have his tape "Synthesized Orchestration Vol 2" by Chris Freeman and John Shaw and nothing to play it on! I heard him play outside the South Melbourne market in the late 80s and that's when I bought his tape from him. He died in December 1992 aged 41 of an asthma attack -- I even kept The Age newspaper clipping about his death. His "Song for a Lost Friend" broke my heart and stopped me in my tracks when I heard him play it which is why I bought the tape.
I just got a copy of the LP shown in the picture from a charity shop for $1 and the sleeve is signed by Chris Freeman. There were to dots on the vinyl and i almost didn't buy it. i am now playing it for the first time - lets see what the dots do.
I saw him play in store at Palings sydney in 1981. He is sensational. Thought I had all his albums until I picked up one called "The Silger". His first I think. Does anyone know. Chris Passed away some years ago. I love his Music
Chris Freeman also played a lunchtime show in 1985 at RMIT cafeteria, i sat hypnotised by his ability,he lost the end of his finger in some kind of an accident earlier in life, but continued to play with a metal thimble, the rare album is available on ebay,i converted it to cd and now play it all the time, what a beautiful thing it is.
Was this the man that played at lunchtime concert at Uni of NSW some 20 years ago. If so, I had one of his cassettes and I was so amazed by his playing.
