  • the best part is "I'm losing my reason to live, the essence of life...I'm losing my pride and my joy, my will to belive"... Jorn's voice is f. amazing

  • The intro vocals remind of the song Mad World so much.

  • The duet on 5:17 is SO POWERFUL, those voices! Amazing!

  • @guilhermevdecastro fucking amen!

  • i luv this song!!!

  • This sounds great! It's so amazing to hear someone singing with so much passion, and the sound is unique

  • fear.............

  • when you see a musician/composer that puts so much powerful and emotional content on an album, unlike other artists that give us meager cd running times, one cannot help but to admire Arjen's integrity.

  • HOLY FUCK! This song was amazing then out of fucking NOWHERE JORN MOTHERFUCKING LANDE starts singing!

EUUUUUUHHHH MY ANUS IS CLENCHED WITH PRIMAL EPICNESS

  • 5:14 Is my favorite part of any song, EVER.

  • Ayreon is Progressive metal with a touch of folk metal, metal opera, symphonic metal, and- most unusual to encounter but made amazingly by Arjen- space rock.

  • 0:00 - 8:12 epic moment and yes ayreon IS space metal.

  • i don't know about you guys, but my favorite album is the human equation. it just seems to "talk" to me more. maybe i'm not getting the message this album is trying to convey, but the melodies don't move me as much as the ones in the human equation, especially with the flute. by the way @claudioanunciacao which album is bruce dickenson in? i need to hear that haha.

  • @KarimBoctorAwad Bruce is on Universal Migrator Part 1 and the song you are looking for is Into The Black Hole

  • this had better be in MW3

  • @polkol4653 lol, what does Ayreon have to do with MW3? (besides the fact I love them both)

  • @SkateOrDie881 This sounds like a good intro for MW3

  • They could make a freaking video game and use their songs as all the background music! Absolutely genius

  • I will actually BUY this album, because iloe it so much!!

  • @Zookind789 i love it

  • is it just me, or are the voices machanically (backshadowed?)

  • Im sorry but you catagorised this wrong it shouldnt be listed under Music it should be listed under EPIC!!!

  • brilliant album, i cant believe i havent heard of this artist sooner

  • this is amazing..........AWESOME SONG

  • [Tom Englund:]

Would you prefer the pain and suffering we had?

Would you prefer to be in peril, even dead?

Would you prefer to live the life we've learned to dread?

Would you prefer to live a mortal life instead?

  • ...Space Metal!

  • @Trippsol too late.

  • This is honestly one of the best metal bands up to date. So different.

  • @Domzdream ayreon isn't rely a band it's more of a guy how writes awesome songs and invites people he likes to sing and play with him a lot of famous musicians have participated in his songs best example of a famous singer a Bruce from iron maiden

btw the guy is Arjen Anthony Lucassen he is dutch i believe

  • @claudioanunciacao

    amazing music.

  • best opening ever

  • I have orgasms when I listen to her voice

    It's amazing!!

  • 01011001 = Y

  • @DannyWGiles and 89 if i am right:)

  • I just sit down, put on my headphones, grab a refreshing cup of green tea and listen to the sounds of the universe, the sounds of the pure, untainted epicness that goes in my soul and makes me one with time and space. The minutes I do this are minutes that I'm proud of spending that way.

Even if everything else in life sucks, this music is a reason enough to keep on living, damn it. So awesome...

  • @N3v3rEndingSt0ry Don't you understand, man? The purpose of this music, of all progressive rock, is to tell you... life may suck, so realize the grander truth of existence and do something about it! Spread the word!

  • @N3v3rEndingSt0ry Agreed man...whatever shit life throws at you... music gives you the strength to pick yourself up and get going.. and this is a good example of it

  • it's beautiful!!!

    c'est magnifique!!!

    sa-mi bag pula!!!

  • 6 people were so amazed by the intro that they accidently clicked the dislike button

  • All songs of this band are on God's iPod *.*

  • @DaveNoPasaran god=synonym for ayreon

  • What to do without ayreon.

  • Arjen Lucassen and Daniel Gildenlöw in the same project. The whole world is going to end.

  • @JeanAlexandre707 2085. It DID end!

  • This album has to have some of the best singers ever. Floor Jansen, Hansi Kursch, Jonas Renkse, Simone Simons, Magali Luyten, JORN FREAKING LANDE. The other singers are great, but these are 6 singers I'd put all right next to each other in a top 10! Insane! Almost like Arjen read my freaking mind.

  • 5:16 - 6:04 is the true definition of EPIC.

  • @dirtrokker4 indeed!

  • Comment removed

  • I LIKE IT!

  • if u r out of the earth is a space. metal yeah ^^

  • Love Magali's voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ayreon(arjen lucassen) makes progressive rock/metal

  • album name "olollool" ? :DD

  • @11multimedia 01011001 is binary, which translates to 89, which is the ASCII code for capital letter 'Y'. Planet Y is sort of a theme with Ayreon's recent series of albums.

  • @zilchonum Ok thanks :)

  • @zilchonum Nice... but how did you find out ??

  • say their sound is unique is an understatement, not enough. They are very balanced: their talent is matched only by their geniality! Absolutly unique and extraordinary!

  • 5:17 = One of the greatest moments in history. The way Jonas sings is great but when Floor starts and ends her two lines it becomes the most epic moment in the history of anything Arjen has done. The entire Ayreon story had been building to that one 47 second section.

  • Im pretty sure Arjen use "Hacks" to write Songs like this one, Epic epicness...

  • 5:18 - Awesomeness of epic dimensions.

  • @Myrum haha, nice

  • AWESOME i cannot say more thn tht

    AWESOME!!!

  • love Ayreon since 1999...

  • ayreon is awesome <33

  • Awesome! I have never heard metal quite like this before!

  • web of leis?

  • i can acctually headbang to this fucking awesome!!!!!

  • Oh my god this song is full of quotes from the human equation or am i going crazy??

  • @SSSavio no, it is one big storyline, the arc including the final experiment, the electric castle, the universal migrator I & II, the human equation and 01011001 :-)

  • Haha, Magali Luyten's voice just dominates that chorus. She's got such excellent power!

  • its simply great...

  • its prog metal

  • well, not quite...its more power metal. one of the elements of prog music is a non conventional measures. this song is in 4/4 measure and totally symetrical.

  • @gulag1979 I don't think, that you have to use a non conventional measure to be progressive. To me progressive Music is just music, that is not conventional and goes into directions that cannot be found elsewhere. So what is progressive if not Ayreon?!

  • @KroxiGore07 I agree. Progressiveness is not limited to structure or measures but - especially today - arrangement solutions. And this song has plenty prog arrangment elements.

  • @gulag1979 I always thought that progressive was a large umbrella-term that meant something like "not by a default order" like every part of the song was totally different. But I don't know, if anyone can tell me i'd be thankful :)

  • @RaiserBand In fact, progressive is "other than usual". But there are main factors that are common to progressive music in general: different measures - not only 4/4, different structure - not only A A B A, length - not between 3:30 and 4:00 mins but between 10:00 and 20:00 minutes and nowadays uncommon arrangements. That`s from my own perspective, if anyone has something to add I`d be glad to read it.

  • @gulag1979 you forgot that i has to blow your fucking mind XD... i think your definition is just perfect

  • @gulag1979 i think progressive means progressive :)

Not just various measures and structures... technically, musicly progressive... the whole build-up is progressive, it's varied, many themes are in it.

    That means it is looong..

  • Progressive Metal Opera! \m/ o0 \m/

  • Great singing by Jonas!!!

  • remaind me David Gilmour Style

  • Sounds like David Arkenstone singing! ~.^

  • man, i have`nt herd a metal song this good and truely this original in fucking age`s.... good shit man!!!

  • incredible album

  • good theme

  • ayreon is SPACE METAL ?

  • nope, Star One is Space Metal

  • Indeed, an out-of-this-world kind of music :-D

  • Ayreon is Progressive metal.

  • @Elnono306 no Ayeron is Progressive EPICNESS!!!!

  • @Larc360

its space viking power ballad progresive metal

  • @Larc360

its EPIC space viking power ballad progresive metal AWESOMENESS

  • @Larc360 The album is, but he collaborates other genres in different albums.

  • @Larc360 sometimes definitions are curious but maybe we should listen and don't think. thoughts about genres subgenres and psychostufflikethat should leave more space to the listening.. because music deserves this

  • @bysnoopy54 You`re absolutely right! No matter what genre it is. The only thing that`s important is what we feel inside listening this.

  • @bysnoopy54 You`re absolutely right! No matter what genre it is. The only thing that`s important is what we feel inside listening this song.

  • @Alexanrio And what you do with what you feel- to whom, and why... don't forget to leap, after you look.

  • @Larc360 Progressive Space Metal ftw :)

  • @Larc360 progressive :)

  • @slamaskin1 also... i don't think you can name this:P it is different from everything, it has EVERY type of metal in it XD though you're right :DDDD

  • @DarkELfBG4ever Progressive IS a bit of everything, that's what Prog is, rock or metal.

  • @Larc360 only way to describe it...or at least this album.

  • @Larc360 What isnt ayreon?

  • @Larc360 This album is.

  • @Larc360 ...I think it's a mix of machanical metal with a twist of Queensryche and David Bowie who ran into Pink Floyds' Wall and hit every brick on the way down...love it !!This music should be used for movie soundtrax...

  • the artwork looks like something dan seagrave would make

  • Arjen write everything I'm sure =D

  • Well, sometimes the guest musicians and singers write bits of their own parts. But essentially, yes :D Arjen writes the vast majority of the music and comes up with the concepts and storylines himself :P

  • Did you see where he let the guy ad-lib? That was incredible. . .

  • I don't know about this CD, but on some of Ayreons CD's he has the main singer write the music. He just gives them hints.

  • @vearheart42 On this one - half of what Jonas / Anneke wrote was from Jonas / Anneke - I think that's probably it.

  • who wrote the lyrics? D:

  • I think Arjen writes everything for Ayreon, but I could be wrong

  • You're right.

  • Gooooodddd song

  • This song is so cool!

  • can you please post mp3 file link.

  • completely ass kicking, arjen is a master

  • The first time I heard this song, I was flying high on opiates. It was really intense.

  • Best track in this album along with comatose

  • Прикольнинько однако поет парнишка =) супер

  • WTF ARE YOU SAYInG

  • thats Jorn Lande, hes one of my favorite singers. you should check out his work. he has done alot of solo albums and did 2 albums with the lead singer of Symphony X Allen Russel

  • That chorus is so freakin' epic... Liquid Eternity courses through our veins.

  • I'm serious this could be better than the Wall!

  • is that jonas renkse singing between 0:54 and 1:13?

  • yes

  • Wow if you look at this album its 1:42:16 long! This isn't a bad song either =)

  • the whole album rocks

  • 5:17 + is just epic... *amazed*

    *shiver and goosebumps*

  • I really like this! A friend on a different site introduced me to them... and I'm glad she did.

  • 5:34 + sends shivers up my spine.

  • Such an awesome song. Ayreon's great! <3

  • ooooh my goood <3

    this song is amazing <3

  • our mastermind has done it again=) I think this album is his best... I never get bored by it^^

  • this song is so great, makes me relaxed, and just makes me more open to my imagination.. :)

  • this band is great for movie soundtracks *wink wink*

  • great song

  • Great song! It contains secret messages of what we are heading on as a humanity....

  • and can someone tell me why bob catley's character is different frm others cause evryone is lamenting but Bob's Forever sings

Once a world of fear and dismay of fleeing and hiding

Now a world that's peaceful and safe, so caring and providing,

    our home...

  • well idk about you, but i think different styles of voices makes a great way to present an album because if it was just one style, it would get boring fast, plus, it is easier figure out who the characters are. my favorite part is the beginning of the song (well it's one of my favorite parts of the song)

  • not the vocal harmonies, i agree with you on that, but why is the lyrics the opposite from the other vocalist? the first 2 guys sings that the world use to be nice and now its bad but Bob's lyrics is the opposite.

  • ooohh i get it sorry! i think the first 2 people say how it used to be, and Bob's forever says how it is now.

  • it cant be cause bob's forever sings Once a world of fear and dismay and now a world so peaceful and safe

  • the forevers live in a way that they are peaceful and safe in a liquid eternity, but they miss life as it is: "to the times when we struggle to survive" they miss the real world they lost, even when they then lived peacefully and safe.

  • but Bob Catley contradict the first 2 vocalist

  • yeah, in fact all the forevers contradict each other in every song. The forevers are alive and they are able lo think and feel, but they lost their world and they miss it. In the other hand for Bob Catley the life they had in the world they lost was really rough and they have to be thankful to be alive, peaceful and sage in their current state.

As well as Jorn and Floor discuss for the same reasons. And Magaly and Tom Englund have the same argument.

  • man, this is why i love Ayreon. thanks for the explanation

  • @german01011001 I've noticed that they also loss their soul to the machines, as if it was Arjen's prediction of what mankind may turn to be like if we don't stop depending so much on them. What do you think?

  • How does he contradict them? Bob is one of the greatest vocalists in the business..he has a different range which wis what makes this song different..he brings the more melodic and softer tones..and ive met the guy before when my friends were his backing band on the legends tour...there are so many vocalists making this album different,,,its what makes the project work

  • I'm talking about the lyrics not the vocal harmonies

  • can anyone tell me is that vocal harmonies at the end at 7:21?

  • Eh, its iffy, sounds more like a keyboard harmony, but with Floor on this album who knows, that girls amazin.

  • i think it could be both

  • Amazing album! I Love it

  • lol there album name is binary numeric and its 89

  • i thought it meant "Y"

  • Which is ASCII for 'Y', the planet of the alien Forever ;-)

  • my favourite sooooong...is too beautiful.

  • lol how can u compare ayreon with him?? lol

  • Great Song! Great Album!

    I love them!

  • bueno esta bueno :)

  • Dimmu

  • where are they from?

  • thought Holland

  • Yes they are from the Netherlands... at least Arjen is but many singers too.

  • The composer is Dutch but the singers/musicians are guest of all parts of the world in each album

  • not to big on the chorus but I really like the melodies on this one
